I wanted to make sure that the coin matched the label and that it was a 20 Kr and not a 10 Kr, because I've gotten excited in the past thinking I've found a coin at a nice price only to realize that the coin is a smaller denomination (but from the same era with a very similar design) than the one I wanted and therefore the price is less attractive than I first thought. lol

Yep, been there. I've almost been burned before because of that, but not yet. :wishluck:

I like the SGDE, more for the eagle than for the Obverse. I think it's a pretty eagle.

Definitely the more attractive of the two sides IMO.

That said, I'll take a coin with that SGDE design over a Ukrainian coin. :sick:lol

HA! Ouch! :roflmao: No argument there in regards to standard circulating coinage, but the truth still hurts. lol Probably why there isn't a single, standard, Ukrainian circulating coinage set in the registry.

I've toyed with the idea of a U.S. coin birthyear set/s but.... Maybe one day when I circle back to U.S. coins.

  2. Very nice pickup! :golfclap:

That copper spot wouldn't bother me in the slightest, I actually hadn't noticed it at first until I read the journal. That's right, I skipped right to the coin. lol

Like toning, a copper spot appearing in just the right place can make the coin more attractive. I'm NOT a SGDE fan but one coin had a copper spot on Liberty's torch, just the flame, and that just looked really cool.

  3. The $1 increase is not too bad but having missed the increase is even better. (thumbsu On a larger submission, like yours, it would have added up to the cost of an additional coin, plus some. :(

I was thinking of sending in some coins this month but I'm a little leery of doing so, as some are silver NCLT, and I'm not sure if sitting around for several months is taking too much of a risk with milk spot development. It didn't go well for me last time in that regard, I may only send in some gold and/or different metal compositions this time around. hm

Nope! That's why i was thinking maybe rubber bands over the columns once folded up hm

Meh, maybe. Definitely gonna want to do something so the flips have zero chance of falling out of the pocket. It looks like everything fits nice and tight so you'd probably be ok. That being said my packaging for my coins has been nowhere near as nice as that and  they've all made it safe and sound. I'd love to see the look on the person's face who had to open my stuff and read my chicken scratch. xD

(shrug)  Ok, 525-5258876_speaking-head-emoji-clipart-speaking-man-silhouette-png.png.02436e6a30b775da594c5b14f6093a6e.png I told you so! lol

Congrats again my friend, it's really amazing that you were able to elevate both Zim coins and notes to these heights. A major award for the same county (none U.S.) at both PMG and NGC is really something to brag about and enjoy. And just to get this on the record now, I expect big things with the 500L set and probably another major award. ;)

  6. Glad I could help in some small way my friend! I'm looking forward to the grading results, when you get them in the spring.

For coins like these breaking up sets is probably the best way to go, other than in person buying, but you do eventually hit a wall when doing this. Where it's just not worth going any further and you've plateaued with the quality of coin/grade. You're left with a VERY nice array of coins in high grade, say 67, but are there better our their? Yep. You'll just have to find those on an individual basis or wait for them to show up. (shrug) Odds are that these will never be matched. At least not until 2040. lol

  7. I see this pedigree fairly often and KN was a mint that produced coinage for the RM on contract, I believe they were eventually bought out by the Birmingham Mint, those coins would have been specimens produced at the mint and kept as examples. I'm not sure if KN/BM ended up producing the Z-coins or if the RM did in the end, but one of those would be a very cool piece for your collection.

  8. Congrats on the wins! :golfclap:

Not including the 90 & 91 coins in the set would be a let down, I think, they would definitely add something special/personal.

If the coins flop in grading you could hedge your bet and submit duplicates or pick up a higher grade later, then leave Shandy's coins in the set for 364 days and pull the ol' switcheroo on the day of the deadline. lol Imagine all the enemies you'll make.  Nah, that's not very sporting. Don't listen to me, I'm nutty. :insane:

So... I've given this some thought this morning and I need to take you to task on this. All those journals on Ukrainian banknotes in the PMG journal and not a peep here on coins. What is up with that? :taptaptap::baiting:

Yeah I've thought about keeping a journal over here and the main reason I haven't is time. Not sure how you find the time to maintain two journals. (thumbsu I might start inflicting my level of crazy over here in 2022, I definitely have coin stuff to talk about, and now that I've completed all my Zim sets (other than p105) I'll have more time to focus on coins.

I might start with my latest submission results once they arrive in 2022. lol 49 business days since received, current turnaround 88 days, I'm officially over half way there. :golfclap:Hopefully turnarounds start to decrease a little, but with the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars getting in peoples hands now I'm pretty sure that ain't gonna happen. :wishluck:

I wouldn't be opposed to it, I think its made of Nickel Silver but it doesn't have any silver content listed so it really doesn't belong there.

Cool, I'll ask about it. I have that coin in MS69 as well, just haven't stuck it in the registry yet because I was waiting to see if NGC will move the slot. (thumbsu

  11. Hey, what do you think about the mechanical (label) error on the 2016 5 hryvnia "Ukraine Starts With You" coin? NGC has it as silver but it's not. I was thinking of requesting that they move that slot out of the 5H Silver MS & PF set and stick it in the 5H 35mm 1998 - Date set where it belongs.
