Lot of new folks who need help authenticating their coins. Awful lot.
-
Are these posts some sort of tests?
-
At least it wasn't found in an old safe in a 200 year old store.

I will keep you in mind sir.
-
I hope you stay also. Always enjoyed your posts.

Mr. Feld, I've been in this hobby far too long to ever believe the buyer is going to place the odds strongly in my favor.

"My guess is that a large percentage of potential buyers for your coins won’t have concerns about authenticity or whether the holders are chip imbedded."
What will this large percentage of potential buyers be concerned about?

Have you considered the downside of this little chip? Do you think that this might further depress prices for slabs without the chip much like the unintended consequences that we are seeing from the CAC bean.
I've got to admit this thought crossed my mind. I've never sent a coin in to CAC therefore I don't know if any of mine have been or not but by judging from the generation of slab I'd think they have and didn't make it. So, to me, any NGC or PCGS slab without a sticker is suspect. Now I'll have slabs without the chip and I'll have to worry about their value dropping again. It is just my opinion but this seems like a good time to sell and get out of the hobby. I wonder what will be next?

I understand you get this service, at no extra cost, when you get the Gold Shield slab. I don't think I'll be sending in all my PCGS coins to be re-slabbed. Costly.
-
I sent several gold coins into NCS and then to regrade at NGC. I received notification that two of the Double Eagles did not require conservation. I would send it. Looks to be in good shape to me.

Congratulations and well done. -
Etsy. Buyer beware.

Yes. As if that's not happening now. Try to sell a MS 64 without a 'bean'. Get back what you paid for it?
Any coin today with out a CAC sticker is suspect.
-
I would prefer a CAC Registry that informs the collector of coins that have failed to pass the test. That would save the collector some extra funds.
Of course this wouldn't work. No outfit is going to refuse making money.

CAC, QA, W, etc. etc. There must be a dozen or more outfits that will put a sticker on your slab - for a fee. Never bought any and probably won't ever buy any. IMO it's what we used to call, in the old days, a gimmick.
-
Don't own any coins with CAC stickers and don't plan to buy any. My collection is about 50% NGC & 50% PCGS. A few ANACS.
I think it's a bad idea.

I have no problem at all with this software or on the NGC website; My computer makeup is: Intel 7 - 4790 CPU, 32 GB fast memory, NVidia GeForce GT-730, Win 7 64 bit. I use Internet Explorer. Never had a problem with this site or any other.

"it's real!!!" Are ya sure about that? Better have someone look it over. The 5 is odd as CRAWTOMAIC said.

Welcome to the NGC side; glad you came over.

Nice score B.L.21; hope they work out for you. I am envious; I always wanted to collect some ancients but never knew where to start.

Insane Asylum? Working at the Mint must have been really stressful!
