  1. Merry Christmas to all forum members and NGC staff! I hope that you are virus free and will have a chance to enjoy 2021 - coin shows and all. If you have a Christmas pudding - I hope the coin is one for your collection. Enjoy!
  2. I had the option a while back and declined managed payments. While I haven't listed anything in a while, I still have items listed and recently sold one without issue.
  3. Between eBay and PayPal - they both are making things more difficult in my opinion. I've heard Instagram might be an alternative, but haven't really looked into it.
  4. 1) do you strive to have the highest quality collection possible, or do you try to fill all of the holes with acceptable but not necessarily the best coins in order to complete your collection? 2) if a coin drops in the ... 3) would rather have a coin that tells an interesting story or one that has a high market value? 4) are you more of an investor or a collector? 5) if you could only buy/have one coin - what would it be and why? (Not looking for uber high value coins - but artistic design or one that has a significant story).
  5. Good for you not wanting to sell. lots of people that inherit coins just want to sell them immediately with no regard to their parents or grandparents who left them the coins. It's nice to remember them through coins (or any other inherited item).
  6. Thanks Lisa, That puts my mind at ease as you received my submission on 11/30.
  7. When you submit a mechanical error to be corrected with a submission form as advised, is the submission tracked similar to regular submissions for grading or is the tracking not available through your online database? Are you advised of the shipping tracking number when the correction has been made? Just wondering - thanks
  8. Not unexpected, but a shame none the less.
  9. I like how the English does portraits of their monarchs. Especially Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II. (Of course that would not work here) Multiple portraits as they age. I also like the idea of having our founding fathers on coins. To a much lesser extent - I like the presidential dollar series as it is a good teaching tool for kids. I do not like the garbage (most) that the mint is producing these days. I do like the classic designs from the past. Privy marks are fine when they represent something special (significant) - not national doughnut day or the like. More comments later One of my favorite designs is the flying eagle cent. I also like the Mercury dime, Buffalo nickel, all of the Indian head designs, and the capped bust coins to name a few. what will the mint produce next??? Scary!
  10. Lots of questions. 1) the NGC address is on top of their forms 2) double check your submission to ensure there are no mistakes. NGC will adjust your submissions, however if there is an error. 3) I do not purchase the scratch resistant holders as I am very careful with mine. I may purchase them on the more valuable coins in the future, however. 4) to holder a COA - I'd call NGC for the cost or look it up on their website. 5) storage cases range from very elaborate and expensive to the standard NGC boxes - which I use and am very satisfied with -they also fit nicely in a safe deposit box. As far as mint cases - I cannot comment. 6) some people will pay a bit extra for early or first releases thinking that the strike is better or they just like the notation. Personally - I do not place much stock in them and would not pay extra. 7) there is an option (check box) on the submission forms to combine different submissions for shipment back to you. Shipping charges would be based on the entire shipment (# of coins and value). good luck.
  11. If you truly enjoyed collecting - it will find its way back to you. It's been quite a year and keeping busy is a good way to go considering. When the time is right - it will be nice to have you back on a regular basis. What new businesses?
  12. Yum -- Haggis. I just opened a Macallan 12 year old for Thanksgiving. Had to sample it before enjoying it in front of the fire later tonight.
  13. That would be an interesting read as well as the current top 100s. Just eye candy in the end with a bit of their history mixed in - but still fun. With your photo skills - maybe that's an area you could explore. Just thing of the coins you'd have a chance to photograph.
  14. So when is the auction? Be interested in hearing your results. As for Scotch - I've been working (sipping) through a couple of my reference books and am enjoying most of them. I should be well versed in them by the time I'm able to visit Scotland.
  15. Zebo

    I'm eligible!!

Good for you. Adds a little excitement come January. Good Luck and keep building.
  16. Interesting proposal. My main focus would not be covered (world). So not much interest there. I do have a broad range of interests and have the need to scratch the itch on many series (US). So my use would be sporadic (intensive) and I see the site being very useful. I'm not sure there would be enough interest to maintain and update the site (effort), however. Would you include Modern issues? There seems to be interest in Moderns, but I'm not sure their collectors will want to pay for the information. Bottom line:
  17. Why not - be nice to go with my other Carson City books.
  18. Welcome -- don't worry, everyone is weird in their own way!
