ldhair reacted to gmarguli in In Honor of NevadaS&G: Your Most Head Bashing TPG Result
Yes, we do know how much money. You mentioned it was around $500. While every dollar is valuable, it's not exactly life altering money. My TPG bill this past last year is around $50,000. And if you want to talk about an unhappy TPG experience. Earlier this year I had a TPG refuse to holder several esoteric coins for me. Why? Because the TPG's outside authenticator told them not to. The outside authenticator is the exact same person I purchased the coins from. Yes, the person I bought the coins from told the TPG not to holder them.
You spent money at PCGS trying to upgrade the coins. You gambled. The coins were in NGC slabs, but you wanted higher grades. PCGS has a lot of faults, but this one is totally on you.

Have you ridden this without a helmet and fallen off and hit your head? I'm just asking because that would explain a lot.

That might be best. You need to provide proof to win people over to your way of thinking.

You are right Mark. And tomorrow I am going to rewrite ALL my maintenance contracts so that there ISN'T a $250.00 min charge for me to get on the roofs .. I'm just going to give all the fuel and insurance and time loading up tools and whatever supplies I bring (now free of charge) And setup time and humping my fat arse up a 40 ft ladder and looking for hours ... Oh and let me pay my help for them too..
Just so I can say sorry you need a new roof..

Don’t be so harsh. Obviously, the tax preparer should have known before spending any time doing any work, that the fees would be greater than the tax bill. Likewise, a grading company should know before grading the coins, that the value doesn’t merit the cost of grading. The tax documents, coins and payments should have simply been returned to the customers before any work was done. 😉

One of the reasons I blocked this guy not long after he joined. He likes to type a lot of words that in the end don't amount to anything!

PCGS and NGC are two of the most trusted of all the services out there.
They take care of problems when they mess up. They won't if the problem was not on their end. That's fair.
I can't see either of these two services messing up the grade of all ten coins in a submission.

Yes. List it all with PCGS grade and cert numbers. A list of what the OP thinks they grade would also be cool. I'll bet that the PCGS and NGC grades are really close.
Five pages of nothing is a bit over the top.

Cut the BS. Give us a list of the coins you submitted to PCGS along with their (should be) sequential cert numbers so we can look up their grades. Give us the NGC invoice number so we can look up the grades when done. After this, we can discuss whether of not you were screwed.

How do you know the reverse die was rotated and not the obverse die?

If your secret for crossing coins results in you losing 2-4 grade points, please keep that secret to yourself.
The odds of a coin downgrading 2-4 points between PCGS/NGC is extremely slim. They grade too similarly for that to happen. You have to be buying garbage TPG slabs. And, as hard as it may be for you to accept, you're probably just not that good at grading. Too few collectors will admit that they are at best, just average at grading and they can't split the hairs between most grades.
