It seems NGC considers the strike character a part and parcel of the grade.

Then I hope the next time you send a magnificent strike, fully weighted, fully rimmed, laser sharp reeded coin over to PCGS I hope you get back a Coin that was used in a Coin Pusher.

And here we go again. Accusations without solid proof. Fact is you have no proof and once again you are ASSUMING , Not good.

I know quite a few people that were scammed out of something Really Big recently, don't lecture me.

NGC is usually on point, PCGS on the other hand is taking your coins home and grading them. It explains why my 1889 Morgan got swapped out with a lesser coin. Sending in something worth 20K or more and the Swap happens. Cost of living in California is Extreme. Desperate times call for Desperate Measures.

Well, they got me again, safe to say it will be the last time, ready to move on to greener pastures. I sent both of these coins out at the same time, after going thru a major fiasco with the US mint's website, and of course they took awhile to get back, which by the way I have absolutely no problem with that. When they did return I see 2 different grades, OUCH. I have stared at these 2 coins with all types of magnification and cannot see any difference at all. Of course there never is any explanation for the grading, just there it is, take it or leave it. I am already paying extra for additional services such as holders, labels, expedited shipping, what's next. At this point might as well charge me extra and supply an explanation of the grading. Anyhow, I'm done venting, and done here.

An old thread -- but same advice: Assume the coin is "raw" and grade it based on what you see not what you want to see. Flea market booths are commonly filled with overpriced coins, so research the FMV of an 1893-CC in Good condition.

There is also a way to reduce the size of a real coin - but I forget the details.
Also, the "novelty type fake" is a counterfeit - size does not matter. "Novelty" does not matter. What is said on the piece matters.

I think it is a mid-grade fake.  That is just my opinion.

Your prime focal areas tell the tale.. You have a pretty severe wheel mark for the 62 And the 66 has crazy frosty luster...
The 66 is a low end 66 but it still a 66

Oh boy!!!  don't get me started on this!!!  ALL of these FDOI, Early Release, First Strikes, Centennial set, anniversary set..etc..  Is a bunch of !  .  These have been invented by some genius salesperson created by television hucksters and the TPGs went along with it.  It is just a bunch of garbage and ruining the hobby for people just starting out thinking that they have something special. Moreover the TPGs are giving them a separate category in their price guides.  WHY!!!  they aren't special they are the same as the regular issue.  Also just because you have s special label that you paid extra for DOES NOT MEAN that that coin is any more valuable....LABELS do not make the price of a coin.  This garbage has gone far enough.   STOP THE INSANITY!! with these labels
