Greig
I noticed that some Silver Eagles have no mint mark yet the label might say, "minted at the San Francisco mint" or the West Point mint. Are these bullion coins? Thank you, Greig

Lem E
These are your average bullion coins but they came from a monster box with a particular serial # saying which mint they came from.
Hoghead515
Thats the way I see them also. Collectable bullion. Got the collectors value but if times ever get bad may have to count on the silver content.
Lem E
These days in the silver eagle game, you are buying labels. You can buy that same $25 bullion coin slabbed from $35 to $300. Just depends on what the label has on it. Like it or not, that is the reality. Hoghead515

Its still the same coin as the rest of its same grade.
Lem E
Pop an FDOI and a Mercanti signature on that $25 piece and you will pay for it. Hoghead515

Stephen83333
Why would an ASE be bullion, but a Morgan not?
Lem E
Dont know a ton about morgans but I would assume because it was a circulated coin.
bsshog40
Yep, Morgans were circulated dollars that went into the public, just as were peace dollars, seated dollar, Ikes, etc..... Silver eagles were never minted for circulation, only bullion collectible's.

I understand that, it is difficult to think that you spent hundreds on $25 worth of silver, but the reality is you did just that. The good news is that as long as there are collectors willing to pay the premium for a manufactured rarity like the reverse proof it will be worth more than just the bullion value. The ASE program started out as a simple bullion program, the mint through a series of limited productions and gimmicks has turned it into something else. BigGoron1981
I have a 2001 ASE proof that appears to be unique. The coin has a counterpunch. It is punched by the Western Numismatic Reserve Cleavland Has anyone ever come accross one of these? Anyone know about it?

This was a club founded in 1921 by 6 members. I would say by the date, it is an anniversary commemorative for the club. I have seen some decent prices on those stamped coins. There is definitely some numismatic history there. I suggest you google it. Can we see a pic? Popular Post JT2
Oh boy!!! don't get me started on this!!! ALL of these FDOI, Early Release, First Strikes, Centennial set, anniversary set..etc.. Is a bunch of ! . These have been invented by some genius salesperson created by television hucksters and the TPGs went along with it. It is just a bunch of garbage and ruining the hobby for people just starting out thinking that they have something special. Moreover the TPGs are giving them a separate category in their price guides. WHY!!! they aren't special they are the same as the regular issue. Also just because you have s special label that you paid extra for DOES NOT MEAN that that coin is any more valuable....LABELS do not make the price of a coin. This garbage has gone far enough. STOP THE INSANITY!! with these labels MAULEMALL, Coinbuf, Fenntucky Mike and 1 other

I just wonder why a counterstamp from a club that existed in 1921 would end up on a 2001 silver eagle?

Does it have a grade? Been looking. The WRNC also commissioned at least one medal probably more. In my searching I've seen a few other counterstamped pieces from the WRNC, sometimes both sides of the piece are counterstamped, sometimes not. I was wondering if it straight graded or not as well, my guess is yes.
