I subscribed to your Trickle Down theory but I took it a bit further...

and was lucky to pick up the 05-S.

I picked up a few Quarters over the weekend as well as an old Dime of mine:

PCGS 58 - ex: Tom Casey & ex: Elbesaar - 2011

One of my more recent graded acquisitions; a 1913 S NGC 53:

This was a nice upgrade from my PCGS XF 40.

Jeff,

I am looking for the Phila issue if it looks like this. I have a VF 35 that I'd like to upgrade.

A solid 45 - 53 would be my preference !

Mark... Reread... I need a 1913.... Not 1893....

BTW, a 1913 in 45 for $500 is a steal !! An 1893

in XF 45 is not a steal, it's the high end of the asking

prices for a certified coin. $400-425 is a better price, IMHO.

Still, I have paid premiums for the right coin... What does

the 1893 look like ?

Next time in Baltimore, Mark, make plans on going to

a BCCS Meeting.

Spotted this on JJ Teaparty - and grabbed it before

someone else saw what a bargain it was...

Here one of my latest set additions- a 1894 in a PCGS AU 58 holder:

I purchased it in a SEGS MS 61 holder and cracked it out. This seems to be a tough coin in a 58!

Jeff,

The 1894 in 58 is really stunning and for the Neophytes of this series,

this is a date to recond with. Much more difficult that the average collector

realizes.

The 1901-S is undergraded, IMHO, in AU 50. I think a 53 is closer to its actual

grade. Nice coin. I have a 53 in my most recent set and I think it's closer to a 55.

The 1914 looks like a lock in 50. Tough coin, as all know. Good luck; who are you

going to send it to ?

Thanks for posting. I hope to get a large group of Quarters out to Messydesk next week

as I just have a bunch getting returned from CAC. Once imaged I will get them posted ASAP .

Mike-

The 1914 will be heading off to PCGS. I don't drink the Kool Aid, but I'm learning what Barber people want. As I already have a '14 PCGS AU 58 this one will be up for sale.

I only wish it would have been a 13 or 15- I need an AU in both!

I'll likely resubmit the '01 S, but I suspect I'll need to crack it to get an upgrade.

A few weeks ago I posted pictures of a raw AU 1914 Barber Half I purchased off eBay at a "Buy it Now" auction at a "too good to be true" price. Here are the images again:

1914%20REV%20Small.jpg

I sent the coin to PCGS for grading; I was hoping for a 55. The results posted last night; the coin came in at an AU 58! Needless to say I'm very pleased with the results, but now I'm the proud owner of two '14 PCGS AU 58's (I already had one). What are the odds of that happening? I've been searching years for a nice '13 or '15 and I stumble across two AU 58 '14's in less than a year.

I'm open to trade offers on one of these; I'm not sure which one I'll keep. The one pictured has a great story, but my first one is a nicer coin (pictured in my NGC set with a green bean). I'm in need of a nice '96 O, '97 O, '01 O, '04 O, '04 S, '09 O, '13, and '15.
