  1. Yep, American service members. I'm not a dedicated collector of this stuff. It's just a box of random memorabilia and history. The same way we grabbed all the Soviet memorabilia, Hammer and Sickle junk and coins after the wall came down! And let me tell you it was/is JUNK, compared to the German stuff. The Germans made quality swastika's.
  2. @Mohawk When I was stationed in Germany we went to many flohmarkt's. There was a lot of Third Reich memorabilia, military medals, uniforms, coins, flags, etc.. with the swastika's. As you walked around the flohmarkt, you would see various items with little white stickers on them or items completely covered up. Those were the items we headed for and bought. Hiding under those covers and white tags/stickers, were swastika's!.......covered up because they were taboo in the German community. I have Third Reich military medals and pins with swastika's but I'm not sure what they represent, stand for or for what reason they were issued to the troops.
  3. I only have one, it's in my Dansco Type Set. No chop marks. I never had a preference one way or the other about chop marks. Besides, aren't chop marks Post Mint Damage?..................Don't answer that, that's for another thread!
  4. Sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. Looks like your dad knew what he was collecting. Nice family heirloom or keepsakes to keep in your family.
  5. He's probably asking about that little bit of doubling on the right side of the spike.
  6. He started off on the wrong foot with me anyway. What the hell kinda subject line is "Seven"??
  7. Are you asking us or telling us?
  8. I wish it was copper! Unless ANACS mis-graded/attributed it. Yes, I think it's just rust.........the story of my life!!
  9. Because the OP is apparently a newbie and may not know as much as you or @Oldhoopster about this forum and the TPG'ers.
  10. REALLY?? Man, I've been thinking it was a die crack all these years. Maybe others will chime in with their opinions. Thanks!
  11. That one does look like it came out of the ground.
  12. Thanks for that JP! Man, I think I have one of those! I've gotta go dig it up... (no, it's not in the backyard ) I'll have to start a thread and get opinions. Thanks again.
  13. Then you should have said that on this post.
  14. So I guess it's lead. I run it across a piece of paper and it leaves a line. I won't eat it!!
  15. From what I hear, the guys here love seeing pictures. One coin per thread though. You mean German WWII coins with the swastika? No problem posting them here. I have a bunch them.
