Well My gut feel on the S mint Proof Silver Eagle would sell out fast.

But I got to say it sold out faster than even than my assumptions. I logged on early at 11:30 made sure my log in and credit card was up to date. All of this prep helped me out because I had my order confirmed within 30 seconds. I feel the mint kind a blew it They release a popular coin, the 2nd lowest mintage of all time for the series and they didn't put a order limit on it.  Why would they do this? It motivated the dealers to scarf them up at a record pace! It also blocked a lot of the collectors from adding one to their personal collections. I own a complete set of Proof silver eagles and knew the hype would explode.

It really was a bit of a secret that the Congratulations Set 2017 would have a Sanfrancisco minted silver eagle,  But you would learn this if you were subscribed to mint blogs or checked coin  world weekly?  So what are the opinions of the collectors, do you feel the mint left most of us high and dry?

It even appears that even NGC was caught by surprise. Because the default trolley label won't be available until April 19th.

I've been curiously watching the population report for the 2015 reverse proof Eisenhower. However 7 weeks since the release and still no results
Ok so we know there are only 17000 coins released and I know that the population report on the grading results for this coin will significantly impact the value of these coins.
Am I alone in watching this one? Does anyone feel the grading results should be updated at least on a monthly basis?

    2014 Kennedy D SP69 Auction hits 2,550.00 on Ebay
I purchased my 5 sets of clad Kennedy's and bought two sets at the ANA Chicago show. I was very lucky to get a 2014 P SP69 and a D SP68 from NGC. I was really surprised to see how low the grades were in the population report.

Acorrding to NGC's population report there are only 18 sp69's with a P mint mark and only 11 sp69's with a D mint mark. I had a tough time finding this population report because they are under the PF sets.

One auction I saw on Ebay went to over 2550.00 for the 2014 Kennedy SP69 D.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/261580758176?roken=cUgayN

I'm baffled why someone would pay this much money for a $5.00 clad Kennedy. The US mint still has a limit of 5 sets per household, but I'm sure they will lift the limit soon. What happens when the limit is lifted and people grade a bunch of these coins looking for a high grade? Am I wrong wondering why someone would pay $2,500 for this coin?

Worse yet ANACS has graded 1,964 sets of the SP69 kennedy's for their first day label. NGC's population must be close to the real percentage of 69's but people are scarfing up The ANACS sets for 300 a set. Scratching my head. Are people just buying coins without doing their research

Am I wrong feeling that once the limit is lifted NGC will get a bunch of these coins graded and the population will increase for the SP69's?

Why would anyone put credence in ANAC's SP69 sets? Really? 1,964 sets for their first day label? I'm sure a cross grade would show different results.

Is ANACS getting more like ICG now?

I am a SAE collector, I knew about the SAE release and I was very patient and got my order in at 12:22. The best news is my order shipped TODAY 11-9-11.
If you were lucky enough to get a set remember don't open the "cardboard box", or you wont be able to get them graded with the special 25th anniversary label.
I hope all these people ordering sets on Ebay realize that an opened set of 5 coins kills off 3 coins of the 5 pc set. WHy buy an opened set on Ebay when NGC or PCGS will not grade them as 25th anniversary. Just go buy coins on APMEX and save you money. An opened set will only justify 2 of the 5 coins.
I have a complete set of PF70 SAE with the exception of the 95 which is a PF69, I will need to add this one to my competitive set. Highly limited and highly desired.

I have always been a HUGE fan of the 24 K gold buffalo and the NGC Early Release label. But look what I just noticed
Weather your a lover or a hater of the Early Release label we all have to admit they all fetch a higher premium when sold.
After a little research I was quite surprised to see that the 2012 70 Gold Buffalo in both proof and Mint state have significantly lowere populations.
    2008 PF70 Early Release Gold Buffalo 1508
    2012 PF70 Early Release Gold Buffalo 1023
    2008 MS70 Early Release Gold Buffalo 7473
    2008 W MS70 Early Release Gold Buffalo 2378
    2012 MS70 Early release Gold Buffalo 1766
All I can say is if your a collector of the gold Buffalo's and the Early Release labels people will soon find out that they are seriously limited. I'm glad I have mine.
I would say it may be a good investment to add one of these coins befre everyone else notices.
Do you think these 2012 gold buffalos with the Early Release label are going to increase in value?

Did anyone notice that the Proof W Silver Eagle on ebay are nonexistent? Higher grading fees, higher Ebay fees and Pay Pal fees are the reason I stopped. NGC discounts to Modern Coin Mart gives the dealer a chance to lower the prices on Ebay and sell them higher on their web site.
Ok it was plain to see that the discounts given to dealers from NGC gives them an ability to to cut everyone else out of the competition. The Silver Eagle PF70 was 99.00 each on ebay and 109 on their web site.
The silver quarters example. The coin set cost 42.00 plus 5.00 shipping then add 20.00 each to grade them at NGC plus 8% handling equals 108.00 don't forget shipping and shipping and insurance both ways to NGC, lets say 20.00 For a total cost of 175.00. Can you believe I bought a set of PF70's silver quarters for $137.00 on Ebay? Then I saw them selling for even less
Now understand the only guys making money was NGC and Ebay and Paypal. If I would have graded my own sets I wonder how coins I would have had to grade to get a complete set of 5 silver 70's?, Now they are selling for about 116.00 dollars each? That's 8.00 over the cost from NGC to me for grading fees, then I need to pay for shipping them??? Dont forget the 42.00 charge from the mint.
I am betting that NGC is going to raise prices even more because there are less coins being graded because dealers quit grading the modern sets.
The silver eagles are higher about 99.00 from MCM on ebay was still a good deal. I didn't loose 100.00's of dollars to NGC and ebay selling them, I quit.
My cost to grade would have been 60.00 + 5.00 shipping. 30.00 (early bird) grading fee + 8.% handling. Primarily because of the 5 coin minimum for Modern special. plus let's say 15.00 shipping and insurance. For 113.00 total cost So I saved 14.00
Bottom line NGC and Ebay and Pay Pal have a huge reduction of people buying grading and selling coins so they must raise prices again
If I would have bought 1 set of 5

The 2011 1 OZ Mint State W gold Eagle did you get one?
Two weeks ago (Jan 10th 2012) you could have bought the 2011 W Gold Eagle Mint State for only $1828.00 dollars. Then the US mint notified everyone that they sold out of the 1 OZ Gold Eagle. THey then announced to the Public that the mintage was only 8,810.00 1 oz coins.
Did you know the 2008 Gold 1 OZ Buffalo that today sells for $4000.00 was 18,863 1 Oz coins.
Did you get your 2011 MS W eagle? Right now that coin is fetching $2500.00 in a MS70 on Ebay. Do you think it will be sought after?

Why buy a graded 2012 (W) or (S) silver eagle, the real mint mark will be released later this year.
Ok so we know that there is an amount of hype we endure when collecting coins, but I have to remind everyone that if the montages are high on a coin that your adding to your collection then be patient and purchase it later in the year.
The 2012 un-circulated Silver Eagle is being minted in both San Francisco and West Point. If you can send a sealed green monster box to NGC they will slab it with (w) or an (S) depending on where you got it from.
If your patient you can get the real deal with the actual mint mark on the coin. I guess Im asking you this. Would you want a 2011 MS70 (S) (from the green monster box) or the actual coin with the mint mark on it& reverse.
The difference in price would be about $100.00 for the (S) for $380.00 for the actual S mint mark on the reverse graded MS70.
Take a breath theres plenty of silver eagles with a (W) or (S), but buy one from the US Mint with the actual mint mark on it, when its released.

What we need in the collecting world
I pray and hope for fairness for all collectors. May the grading company realize that all collectors are treated equal, regardless of the label on their coins.
I believe that if a grading company records and publicizes their grading results, and if each grading company promotes the elimination of fake coins in our markets then they should be compared equally on all registry sets. For the good of all collectors, regardless of the color of their label.
True equality will be realized when all good grading companys unite and build a more perfect environment, for the good of all collectors regardless of the color of their label.
  10. LJRambo111
When collecting your sets remember to watch out for the following
Keep in mind you will never have all of the labels
Keep in mind you might not be able to afford to add coins to your sets in the future.
Don't reference the big dealers that NGC deals with.
Dont talk about preferential treatment for labels.
Dont talk about special turn around times for special dealers.
Dont mention to keep the collecting community in mind
    Dont poke the Bear.
The true equality will be realized when all good grading company's unite and to build a more perfect environment for the good of all collectors regardless of the color of their label.

Ok if there is ads running at the bottom of the window, close them because there are subtitles that change the foreign Languages to English. Read the subtitles.
Ok I get it everyone is upset they missed out some were lucky but most ended up frustrated like the following video. If there is any ads running at the bottom close them and read the definitions.

No sour grapes here, I did the math I knew that 100,000 sets divided by 5 sets per household was only 20,000 purchasers. Dont say your boycotting the 25th SAE set You might as well say your boycotting the 10th Anniversary Set. Here what I did to get my sets.
In my opinion we as collectors need to be smart and persistent, I have an order from the mint and I know the "web site" never crashed. We cant make the coin company's in Florida act responsible, it's greed. But I have to say they were smart to attain as many of these sets as possible, I was.
I didn't give up, I was persistent and got my 5 sets. I did the math, 5 sets per household divided by 100,000 offered is only 20,000. customers. I figured they would be out by the end of the day. Everyone in my family circle received their orders and got their sets. Some with newer computers had less problems, If they changed the browser they used they had different and sometimes better results. One thing I know is the US Mint's web site never crashed.
I have to admit I saw the e-mails from MCM, BMC, CFC, that they would buy my sets at a small token profit, while they gouge the public for 10 times the cost for a pf70 set. All it did was reinforce my earlier suspicions I had to be creative and persistent if I was to get my sets.
This is America, you have the right to boycott the 25th Anniversary set, but the longer you do it, the more out of reach they will become. It's like saying I'm boycotting the 10th anniversary Eagles because I can't afford it. I say the sooner you buy them the cheaper they will be for you.
I was so certain of the shortage I decided to buy a set of five additional sets of the 25th anniversary eagles on Ebay the very same day they went on sale.
So on Oct, 27th at 4:10 EST. or 1:30 PST. for only $2,200.00. I purchased an additional 5 sets, a real bargain at today's prices.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/160672776485?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_512wt_1396

Oh for the record, I'm boycotting the PF70 1995 W Silver American Eagle because I can't afford it. The 1995 W PF70 SAE is the only perfect eagle missing from my set. Mine is a PF69, the rest are seventy's. Would anyone be willing to trade?

The SAE S mint mark Silver American Eagle will have a total mintage of roughly 100,000 coins, But one of the coins in the set has a population of only 8% with a grade of 70. It's mot the W mint mark.
Ok so we know that two of the coins are very special in the 25th anniversary eagle set. THe Reverse proof and the Mint State with the S mint mark.
Has anyone realized that the regular silver eagle (bullion version) has a population of only 7% to 9%? Well lets also consider the fact that with every opened set we see on the secondary market it reduces the total amount of probable 70's. Remember the secondary market price is based on rarity.
So if the bullion version has only 65,000 available for grading because the original mint cardboard box was opened will mean that only 500 to 550 coins graded as perfect MS70.
I guess what I'm trying to convey to everyone is we don't know what coin is really valuable, until all the facts present themselves and then we chase the real rare one. How many people will kick themselves if they wake up one morning and realize that they gave a real rare coin away for nothing.
Some coins will always be worth a good price in this set, but collect the set for it's beauty and don't be surprised if the bullion version of this set in the NGC Special 25th anniversary Label to worth the highest price.
The true value will could be due to the total population of the 3 coins not getting the coveted 25th anniversary label because we cant prove that they came out of the 5 pc Silver Eagle Set, because the sets were opened. This fact combined with the total average of perfect coins may become a surprise for all coin collectors.
I for one will not let one of my coins ever leave my hands until all the smoke clears. Which is why I own the rarest label on the 20th SAE.

I believe the 2010 platinum coins sold out because the mint is starving the public with the lack of minting decent collectable coins. Why should we buy a 2010 Platinum coin which has a total population of 10,000.00? You can buy the 2006, 2007 or 2008 Platinums with a much lower population.
The 2006 through 2008 platinum coins have a total mintage of less than 25% in comparison to the 2010 proof edition.
Is the public following hype or basicly not doing their homework?
The total population for the burnished edition is as follows.

    Date 1 oz. 1/2 oz. 1/4 oz. 1/10 oz.
    2006 3,068 2,577 2,676 3,544
    2007 4,177 3,635 3,690 5,556
    2008 2,876 2,253 2,481 3,706
When I check the NGC cences for MS70 I found the lower population.
    2006 1 oz - 674 1/2 oz - 675 1/4 oz - 695 1/10 oz - 1110
    2007 1 oz - 735 1/2 oz - 731 1/4 oz - 793 1/10 oz - 1243
    2008 1 oz - 835 1/2 oz - 576 1/4 oz - 625 1/10 oz - 905
If your looking for a rare gem I suggest you look for the complete set 2006 through 2008.
It's a shame that the US mint cannot release coins that really tempt the puyblic to collect. I guess the investor is running the show. Because the US mint will not mint the Silver or gold proof or burnised coins.
So the us mint will have turn lower profits again because they will continue to mint the bullion edition

Check your back dated silver proof sets if you buy them from EBay. Someone put clad coins in my Red 1999 Silver proof set.
I have a set of PF 70 silver state quarters which is missing the dreaded Delaware Pf70. So I?ve been buying 1999 silver proof sets for grading.
I have purchased 5 or 6 silver proof sets from EBay. I try to be cautious and buy them from people who have good feedback. Sometimes I try to buy them from sellers who don?t have a lot of coins sales in their feedback.
I got in the habit of sending in the complete lens to NGC for grading. But then it occurred to me that if I was buying and grading bulk packaging, perhaps I should inspect them closer and send them to NGC in flips. After all, if I didn?t inspect them, how would I know who sold them to me if I had a problem with the submission that I sent into NGC for grading?
Well as I was packaging them for grading I opened the silver proof lens and to my disbelief all of the coins that were supposed to be silver were clad, including the Kennedy. How many people buy these silver proof sets and never open them up? I thought I could tell the difference just by looking at the coins. Some collectors (friends) of mine thought I was crazy for opening the lens.
Well adding insult to injury I had already given this seller a positive feedback rating. I checked the completed auctons and this same seller had sold another four sets of 1999 silver proof sets. The only way I knew it was the same seller was because I list the feedback number of sellers in all of my search results.
I called EBay and got nowhere. I tied to get the feedback reversed but customer service told me it was too late. I mentioned to them that I saw the seller also had sold four other sets. And someone needs to warn the purchasers that the coins might be clad. As far as I know customer service perceived me as the problem. The seller reimbursed me for the sale he even offered a replacement, which I declined immediately.
I told the customer service rep that the 1999 Clad Proof set sells for about $30.00 The 1999 Silver Proof set sells for about $200.00. Now I know why people buy these empty lenses! I see a number of empty lens for sale on EBay. Don't get me wrong I have sold empty OGP packaging before, but it was for gold or platinum. EBay won?t eliminate the sale of the conflicting lens, so the best I could do was warn people on forums like this.
Anyways inspect your coins and wish me luck on my grading results, they should be received today. Please check all of your silver proof coins if you purchase them on the secondary market. The lense is not proof enough.
Now the worst of my problems will be selling of some of my extra 1999 Silver PF69 and PF70 quarters.

Yesterday?s coin is a rarer coin and today?s best value; do you want to know what it is? In my opinion, it?s mostly forgotten and a better looking coin.
The Buffalo fury is on. I have seen an EBay auction sell a 2008 W Mint mark PF70 Buffalo sell for $3,999.95, what?s behind the fever? Is it the current price of gold or is it the Rarity of the 2008 Buffalo? It can?t be the mintage number. Because the MS 70 W mint mark on the Buffalo uncirculated version is half the mintage of the proof version.
I think it?s the chase. Everyone is learning and desiring the 2008 W proof buffalo. Do you remember the fever associated with the 20th anniversary Reverse proof? They were selling for $5,000.00 for the individual coin. I researched that coin too and found a 2006 Reverse PF70 sell for $2883.99.
There were only 10,000 Reverse proof gold eagles minted.
There were 19,571 W Proof 1 oz Gold buffalos in 2008 minted.
There were 9,699 W Uncirculated Gold Buffalos in 2008 minted,
Today?s deal of the day is the 2006 Reverse PF70 Gold Eagle. It?s under the radar.
Finding a deal in raw coins is difficult; I believe we are being priced out of the market. Last night the spot price for gold was at 1207.00 per oz. if this trend continues the 1 oz gold buffalo will be 1510.00 on Thursday. The media is continuing to fuel the fire regarding the purchase price of gold. I keep wondering why they don?t mention the price of silver. Silver has out performed gold in the last year I remember in November 2008 it was only $8.90 per oz now it?s $19.17 per oz.
I guess we better be glad for what we have in gold because I don?t know how many people will be able to continue buying it. All I know is if I was buying a 2009 gold Buffalo I would buy it from EBay. The 2009 are selling for $1620.00 for pf70. The mint is going to charge $1510.00.
I guess if we knew what was behind the driving force of coin collectors we would all be rich. Hope you get all the coins you?re searching for.

If we only buy coins based on the coin and we don?t consider the label then we shouldn?t embrace the 2006 UC Proof Gold Eagles slabbed 20th Anniversary. I love it, because it?s one of my rarest!
In my opinion the guidelines NGC set up for slabbing all coins with their proper pedigree are one of the best in the industry. If we look at the rules and guidelines that were set up for the 20th anniversary coins it shows a well thought out process. In fact I believe it was one of the best.
Did you know that there are only 1,630 1oz 20th anniversary PF70 ultra cameo labeled coins? The US Mint released a total of 47,096 1oz coins in 2006. NGC realized the potential for misrepresentation and took steps to ensure that the regular 1oz coins would not get the 20th anniversary pedigree. This adds credibility that the label is in fact, a portion of the information that many collectors use to determine which coins they are going to collect. It also gives everybody who purchases coins on secondary market the best description possible.
Nobody could switch those coins. Let?s just try to agree that some people who peddle coins on the secondary market try to misrepresent a coin as an Early Release, First Strike or a 20th anniversary coin. The grading company's main goal is to describe the coin the best it can.
Since NGC's guidelines give me the insurance and piece of mind as to the coins pedigree then I support and embrace it. Lets agree to let everyone collect what they enjoy collecting. This is why educated collectors only collect NGC and PCGS coins. If a coin collector enjoys what represented on the slab. Why pass judgment on them? The coins label that we purchase on the secondary market gives us the purchaser, the best description possible.
The market demand will dictate how people grade their coins, not individuals passing judgment on someone?s passion.
I'm almost sorry I brought up the delimit I had regarding getting my buffalos to NGC on time to get the Early Release label. The one thing I noticed is that some coin collectors are very persistent regarding any description on a NGC labeled coin. A properly labeled coin describes the and when a coin is and purchased.
I?m not saying I agree on all of NGC?s policies, but who could. I just accept the good with the bad and realize nobody?s perfect. Do people feel that the Lincoln formative year error was actually an error? People need to judge a coin on what it is not what they think it is.
Thanks for the interesting points of view. All of us are smarter, than any one of us!
Have fun, collect what you enjoy.

Many of the responses to my earlier journals state that NGC?s Early Release label is a farce. But I say market conditions prove otherwise.
I posted a journal a couple of days ago regarding the anguish of getting and shipping 5 proof buffalo coins to NGC for grading. The dilemma is that we need 5 coins in our shipment to meet the guidelines to submit coins for grading. 5 Gold Buffalos at current market prices is $7300.00. The US post office only lets you insure packages up to $5,000.00 for priority or express mail. With the Dec 5th deadline hovering over our heads registered mail would subject me to missing the Early Release deadline.
Some of the responses I got were more in line of explaining to me that the Early Release Label is a fictitious ploy set up by the grading company?s. They also added that the regular label gold buffalo is just as desirable as my Early Release label. Based on these responses I will try to explain my desire to have Early Release labels.
I agree with Jeffries concept about the First Strikes label, as a matter of fact (for example) if you take a look at the production dates for Silver American Eagle program. Year after year the US mint starts striking these coins in September for the next years up coming release. The first coins struck are stored and production continues day after day, month after month. Shipping moves pallets around and probably buries the coins that were the actual first coins struck. Then to compound the problem it gets even worse. We buy rolls of Silver American Eagles from distributors. We don't know which green monster box our rolls of SAE came from. As a matter of fact some of the First SAE coins struck may never get an Early Release label because they are buried by the pallets of coins in front of them.
I am very experienced with manufacturing and production. I know for a fact that even with the best shipping guidelines the employees in shipping don't always rotate stock. There is a high probability that the coins that get the early release label are not the coins that are first struck, they are the last coins struck. Statistics prove that many of the coins that are first struck are still buried by the pallets of production stacked in front of them.
I guess that?s why I feel that NGC Early Release label is more correct than the PCGS First Strike label. Based on the probability that we can't prove the coins are First Strikes, they are actually the coins that were first released, Therefore they are Early Releases.
You and I cannot control the perception of the secondary market; however we all want our coins to be the most desirable coins in any collection. Therefore, if the secondary market desires to put a higher value on the Early Release Label and they become the most desirable coins to have, then why wouldn't I want them?
The market puts a higher value on Early Release labels. We can't change the market, it is a fact the majority of collector?s desire to rate the Early Release labels as the more desirable. We can't change popular opinion, and if we don't acknowledge the fact that the Early Release label is more desirable we will miss the boat.
I have modified my goals to have the most desirable coins. We can even say that NGC has the most correct label because they we know they are Early Releases, we don't know if they are actually First Strikes.
Keep in mind, there will probably be more Early Release Proof Gold Buffalos in 2009 than there were total coins minted in 2008. This proves that they are not First Strikes, they are Early Release. It also adds more credibility to the Early Release Label because even under the best or strictest guidelines a label doesn't guarantee that a coin is a First Strike, but it does guarantee that a coin was an Early Release.
I for one don't think that NGC eliminated the First Strike label and decided to use the term Early Release by mistake. Is NGC merely setting this up to make more money, or are they reacting to pubic demand? I believe that public demand has set put a higher value on the special labels, which is why I consider them the most desirable coins to collect. I submit my opinion to all collectors that if it was a law suit that made NGC change to the new Early Release concept, it's more credible. It's certainly a more expensive collectable.
I know that the meetings surrounding these issues must of been interesting, I only wish I could have been part of those discussions. One lesson I take from this is that whatever your opinion was regarding this label, most collectors are steadfast to their opinion. I will tell you that my research show the special labels demand a higher price.

Submissions sent to NGC are at high risk because of the increase in gold prices and NGC guidelines.
I find myself in interesting situation. NGC states that you need to have a minimum of 5 coins graded per submission. This is fine if you?re in the neighborhood. If I send 5 coins through registered mail it takes 5 to 7 business days to reach them.
If I send 5 gold buffalos to NGC for grading the total value of my shipment is $7,300.00 in raw gold costs. The US mail insurance limit is $5,000.00 for Priority or express mail. If my need to beat the Early Release cut off date, I have to under-insure my package by $2,300.00.
What would you do, loose the early release label? Would you risk loosing $2300.00? Just my excitement alone to get my coins back wants me to push my packages through the grading process and ship them there express mail.
Maybe we can get NGC to modify the grading guidelines for the Gold Rush tier to 3 coins per submission?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Silver and gold are on the rise the proof buffalos from the US mint for 2009 opened at $1360.00 priced at $1410.00 today Thursday they will probable be $1460.00.
Currently the 2009 Proof 70 Buffalos are selling for the low price of 1,600.00 on EBay. Last years PF 70 Buffalo runs for $3,300.00. What a deal 1600.00 for a 2009 Proof Buffalo. If gold opens above 1,150.00 for three days this week the mint will raise the price of the 2009 raw coin to 1460.00. Now doesn't it sound like the buffalo is a great investment strategy?
Last year in July people were buying up the PF70 Buffalos for as low as $1,100.00. What an investment! Who doesn?t want a 300% return?
Currently every country is pushing their citizens to invest in silver and gold. I saw the ad when I was in China. Is that whats pushing up the price? It could be that compiled with the fall of the US dollar. At any rate the world is stocking up on these rare commodities. China made it available for their citizens to invest in silver and gold in 2008 they even advertise it on TV. What do they know? Silver and gold is a safe hedge on inflation. Why would I keep money in the bank, if I could get a graded gold buffalo coin? If the spot of gold dropped to 800.00 today The 2008 Buffalos wouldn?t budge in price. Now that?s a hedge against inflation.
Graded Silver and gold coins are a better hedge against inflation than the raw stock. So I continue growing my sets. The only lesson I take from this is I started early, I only wish it could have been earlier. I guess I?m going to hoard more of the Proof buffalos, It?s better than buying a lottery ticket.
I surf the web and have forecasts for Silver to be as much as 50.00 an ounce within a year! Most people talk about gold, I say keep an open mind because silver seems undervalued.
But at any rate I will keep hoarding the 2009 Buffalos coins. I only wish I had more of them. Feel free to check out my complete set of Buffalos called Perfect Stampede, it?s a set of every coin in perfect grade

Hurry get yours corralled before they get away. They may be sold out, just like last year!
    The Herd is corralled
I received my 2009 PF 70 Buffalo today
I didn?t chase the 2008 Buffalos I collected them, because I cherish their beauty. I don?t how many buffalos will be minted in 2009 and I don?t care. I purchase all of mine at the cheapest price and graded them myself.
After I had my coins the Mint sold out and announced the total mintage. Can you believe it was fewer than 20,000?

Well the public started to panic. The mint was sold out, now everyone wanted one. The 2008 buffalo is now selling for as much as $6785.00 for the four piece set all PF70 and graded by NGC. One year ago today they were selling for $2100.00. I?m so glad I bought Mine back in July 2008.
Normally the mint doesn?t produce a lot of coins when they release them so late in the year. But since they didn?t make the proof eagles in gold or silver it could be a high number. Don?t gamble! If you don?t get one, they will be very limited. If you do get one, they will be produced in high quantities. Just make sure you don't regret not purchasing one.
I collect the coins because I think they are gorgeous. I am a collector, I own them all. Many people didn?t get one last year and now their chasing them. It's hard to get a Buffalo once thry all get released.
Are you a collector or a chaser? Gold is so expensive; I hope I can continue my set. Maybe I will have to sell all my other coins to keep my Buffalo set complete. Do you think that the raw coin for next year will be under 2000.00 dollars?
I writing this to remind all the collectors to be collectors and not chasers. These coins are too much money if you don't get them at the beginning of their release. Get yours soon, while their still cheap. Ok I admit it, their not cheap.
But I?ll bet you their cheaper now than they will be next year!
If we purchase our coins for their beauty, we don't chase the market. We get them at retail cost. We never care that we own a valuable coin or what the mintages are. Were just are glad we have our prize possession's.
We buy them because we are avid collectors. We wanted the coin for its beauty. The avid collector bought it when it is unnoticed by most of the world.
The avid collector will cherish that they own the coin for their collection, and will never sell it. The avid collector doesn't chase the market. Therefore I glad I have my 2009 Buffalos all corralled and safe.
Feel free to check out the pictures on my complete set called Perfect Stampede under the name L J Rambo.

Are you a Buffalo collector or a chaser? Do you, or will you have your 2009 Buffalos at the start of the release or will you chase them later. Once released Buffalos are hard to catch.
The avid collector wins every time. We research when our favorite coins will be released. We buy the coins because we are committed to the coin or type set.
Now look at the history of the 2008 Buffalo sets. Nobody was buying them. But if you were committed to collecting the coin because you have a passion or desire to own them you buy them. We buy them because we are collectors and desire to own one of each of them, not because of greed or monetary gain, we collect them because of the beauty we see in the coin and we want a complete set.
Time does pass and the US Mint publishes their population report and their future intentions. When the US mint sold out of the 2008 Buffalos and put out a press release stating that they sold out of the 2008 Gold Buffalos, They also stated that the mintages were low. They also stated thaat there will not be any further fractional coins in the future. We also learned that the mintage for the 1 OZ Proof was under 20,000.
Now the greed sets in, it drives the market crazy, and now everyone wants them. The collector just sits back holding his prize possion. He watches the chasers drive the price up, Now everyone is running out of coins people are trying to hoard.
Lesson learned, if we purchase a coin for the desire and the beauty of the striking we don't chase the market. We get it at retail cost. We never care that we own a valuable coin or what the mintages are. Were just are glad we have our prize possession.
We buy them because we are avid collectors. We wanted the coin for its beauty. The avid collector bought it when it went unnoticed by most of the world.
The avid collector will cherish that they own the coin for their collection, and will never sell it. The avid collector doesn't chase the market. Therefore I believe I'll buy the 2009 Buffalos when thier released.
Maybe it will do good. Maybe it wil be average But it will be mine. Besides I will never part from it anyway.
I also believe we just witnessed the birth of the 2008 Buffalos becoming more sought after than perhaps the prized 1995 W PF70 SILVER EAGLE.
I hope everyone hope everyone who was collecting them, got one. If you did I hope it's in a safe place.
Now lets watch the 2009 stampede.

Us Mints decision to not offer the 2009 Proof Silver Eagle is the biggest self destructive attack to the SAE program, and coin collecting programs in the US market.
You see the US Mint had very little passion following their market in the early 80?s. Then someone in their marketing programs came up with great ideas. They decided to promote the sales of gold and silver when they initiated the sales of Gold American Eagle and Silver American Eagles, thank you Ronald Reagan. Then they decided to offer the greatest idea ever, the state quarter program. It put the desire back into colleting that they will probably never match.
The US Mint had their greatest year ever (2006) they managed to produce the State quarters, Platinum was offer in a 4 piece set in both proof and Mint State as well as the burnished edition. Gold was offered in 4 piece versions in Proof, MS, as well as the burnished edition and the best, the 20th anniversary reverse proof in silver and gold. We had the Silver Eagle program too. Mint State, Proof and the burnished edition not to mention the most beautiful 20th anniversary SAE. The interest in coin collecting was at its peak. But if given a chance, Would it get better? Or will it get worse?
I don?t know who?s running the US Mint currently, however if I was running a business like that, I would worry for my job. You see this year (2009) the Mint can?t even produce the proof SAE in the long running proof version. This decision is the single most self destructive concept anyone could have made that killed the interest in coin collecting. We don?t have the fractional in gold American eagle?s proof version, Platinum?s are gone with the exception of the 1 Oz proof. We didn?t even make the silver eagle in the proof or burnished version. Perhaps collectors will now move on to other areas, I will.
Doesn?t management know that they could have made bigger profit margins with the offer of the proof version, and kept the entire collector base happy? DOnt the Mint officals feel that they owe a debt of gratitude to the public for keeping probaly the most successful goverment business profitable? Take 500K of the 20 M bullion versions. If the US Mint had offered either of those versions, collectors would have been satisfied.
Now we can say goodbye to the proof and burnished version of the SAE. Hope you got your 08 SAE tucked away!
The US mint released over 20,000,000.00 Mint state SAE. Heck that decision ruined the both the proof and burnished series. The proof was a 23 year series! But fear not, at least we have the Braille. MELT THEM! I'm sorry John Mercanti Your SAE eagle program has been broken.
The greatest days for the US. Mint is over. US collectors will have to look elsewhere. Look for more information on foriegn coins, maybe coin world will revamp their mag? Whoever is deciding the future business plan at the US mint should be fired, terminated!
Maybe we can hire the Chinese government to produce our coins? They produce the materials for our houses and our cars, why not our coins? These decisions are a disgrace not only to the coin collectors, but to our country. The world was getting interested in our coins. The United States used to have a can do attitude, I?m sorry to say it?s a sad day for the US manufacturing; and it's a sad year for US coin collectors. We can?t even strike a proof silver American eagle coin anymore. You can't but a SAE from the mint in 2009 you have to buy a bullion verse from a distributor? Mint officals state it shouldn't matter coin collectors will be ok. By law we had to make the bullion. SO did they screw up last year in 2008 when the bullion edition wasnt available for months? I must have missed the news when they got arrested for not following the law in 2008.
Bottom line, they didn't mint the coins that I feel they were committed to mint. Keep your excuses to yourself, just say you didnt want to do your job. You wasted tax payers money and destroyed the dies you had manufactured to produce the coins. If I did that at my job I would have been fired. Maybe we should just lay them off. They only minted a fraction of the coins that they did in 2006.
