  1. Wow such an innocent post things were a little testy on the forum and I hoped to lighten things up.
  2. Congratulations I just finished a short set of a favorite 🤓. It’s a good feeling
  3. Not an expert by a long shot just saying I like it. I would consider the ultimate sin and (if it was mine) I might try and get the glue off and clean it up a little bit and pocket piece it😎
  4. I am certainly getting a crash course unfortunately on you. Your other posts are interesting? I will in the future make sure to ignore your posts
  5. Funny your hypocrisy about newbies. Gee complains about big meanies being hard on a newbie and turn around and puck all over this thread and drag the newbie like you have some right. There ase a number of words to describe your antics but I’m good with hypocrite. Are you gunna beat me up? Tough guy
  6. I m new to this school but try to hang in. There’s so much knowledge
  7. Check current sold prices for slabbed selling price. This will require a pretty good eye for approx grade but there are good references available
  8. Howdy to my classmate slick glad to see you in class. Now to topic. Welcome tridmn.. As a newbie I’ve been practicing with my iPhone 7 and natural light and overhead incandescent. I sit in my office chair and practice holding with one hand and snapping with the other. Gunna build a stand (coat hanger tape pop cycle stick pipe cleaners I’ll find something). Maybe you can return the scope for something else closer to what you need. Free newbie advice talking back to teachers never helped me. There is a wonderful group of people here (some a little grumpier) but have you checked out the cost of one unit of college. I believe we are saving money every time we learn something. Common courtesy and a degree of patience will serve us all well We all go through a break in period still in mine. Again welcome Here’s one of mine I don’t need a scope to see🤓 Planchette with dime struck in about 10percent of the edge
  9. Welcome…I looked into the process and joining a grading service was not for little guy like me but I have found most coin dealers/shops will gladly submit for you but most importantly is the “quick “ “look you can kindly ask for!
  10. Sorry about that. There sure is more than one book. Each as said is covering a specific range of denominations. Check out Leocover.com. For the list and then your favorite source for literature 🤓
  11. Howdy welcome from a newbie. The learning is awesome from so many knowledgeable folks. Picture worth a thousand words. I received similar advice this is $5.00 e book
  12. Wow. Just a lesson I think I’m witnessing but as a newbie sometimes the learning is more about navigating the people who kindly intelligently respond to our questions than the dang coin. Baby steps to some but kind of an awakening to me and note worthy to this collector. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to open up about your personal experiences it adds content that is appreciated
  13. Welcome and get ready for some questions and advice. You are in the right place
  14. I am fairly new but for kinda realistic idea of value is for me to check eBay sold prices. Then for entertainment I compare the price guides in numismatic news, coin world and red book and sometimes laugh or cry but mostly I’m learning that of the 3 take 50percent off and your fairly close? Kinda. The eBay sold working the best so far. This tidbit is changing as I learn more about grading 😂(it’s so hard)
  15. eBay has tons of ngc pcgs anacs slabbed coins all prices (amazing amount available for 10-20$)perhaps saving all those grading fees and just get a variety of slabbed coins in different grades and then you’ll have something to compare with 🤓The errors may be a little more but photo grading books around not sure about errors.
  16. I love this place. I so needed this book and wizard has it. They had a slightly different one same author and same information on sale. So I bought it and next month I’ll look into a copy of cash in your coins
  17. Here comes the newbie with his 2cents. (I’m trying to educate myself and ask questions or make a statement reflecting my learning). At least you have a silver quarter because the 65 on no gots silver🤓
  18. Note my reference to needing armor over there 🤓. NumisMagic hang on we’re about to possibly get a look at DCarr’s effect on the business. I know he designed for the mint and now produces interesting repunchs. And outside the box coin designs and makes them himself. What we possibly might learn is about the man and his interactions with others
  19. Pobjoy is incorrect on the P mint mark. Ase’s from the 90’s like a1996P and Perth mint Aus. Might have a few🙀 Oh boy might have opened the MM versus privy door . Kinda same same to me but this is where the learning begins
