  1. Sulfur will change the color of lots of things. I had a house on a sulfur marsh full of brown carpet that turned green. There could have been something on the surface of the coin and that is what toned not the presence of silver. Sorry not a good test in my book. I will trust my eyes on this one and say this coin is not even MS Clad.
  2. Ok slick, ,,This has been fun but the fact remains it is a 1971 D. A nice strike as would be expected in a Denver coin. We still have not seen the reverse which is also used to determine the grade and should have been in the first shots. Or you can post the reverse in a day or so and drag this thread out a little longer. If you send it in for grading it may come back a 65 and you will still have a coin no one wants to pay top dollar for. Everyone who posted was more than willing to give you good advice but you insist this coin is something special.................. It is NOT............... I hope you do not try to sell it that way.
  3. Well I hope the Kennedy it is a winner. Now the big question is ? Why are people targeting you. No one here knows you?
  4. Ya it is not as easy to get the deals I use to but sometimes you get lucky. I am also looking for those last 5 Morgan's deals and on those and CC they are just hard to come by. The 51 was a nice find. The other two were still at my 33% so all in all it was a good week for cheap pickups
  5. I got some more good price coins for the set. Two nice MS66 a 1940 S and a 1968 S . I have to say on the last one I got a amazingly good deal at $41 for a toned MS67 1951 D in a old NGC holder. That's the sleeper I look for when shopping.
  6. I know . But those are the kind of deals I look for when buying coins. I guess I will have to find a graded one.
  7. I agree with RWB. There are many of the state and park quarters with chips and cuds and only a hand full are worth more than 25 cents
  8. Close enough , I'll give ya $20 for it.
  9. I have some that I picked up in antique stores still in the mint case but the coins all have a ring from moisture getting to them. They were cheap and I like them so no harm .But they were never worth much and never will be.
  10. I found one last year. Not sure it is worth anything but the fun in finding it. Maybe if it was in a holder with the identification of a DDO-001 it may be if someone wanted it There are some markers to look for the 2 and 0 odd shape. Funny looking eye. Die crack on the forehead and a die gouge above the N in cent on the reverse. Here are some shots of my cent. You may want to compare at Variety Vista for yours. http://varietyvista.com/01e LC Doubled Dies Vol 5/2019PDDO001.htm
  11. Yes Bill I do. Thanks for thinking of me.
  12. That is good looking coin and holder a very gracious offer thank you but I will decline. Please hold on to it and give it to one of the younger members of your family it may spark a interest to add to it. If I start collecting buffalos before I finish the Jefferson's it will break my stride. LoL
  13. Hi Rummy, I would pick a nice coin or coins that you like gold, silver, nickel or copper. Something you can build a set on if you want to. Or just take it out and look at it and say wow that is a cool looking coin. I think shopping for the coin is 50% of the fun. Please buy from someone you can trust. Why do I get the feeling the posts the last few weeks from new members seam like computer generated answers ?
  14. Now you will have to work on the 1935 to 1955 proof sets Bill
  15. Nice collection Bill. That was quite a lot in just one year.
  16. Yes the 1939S 64FS was one of those right price at the right time I think it was around $50. Sometimes you find a sleeper just waiting to go home with you.
  17. You can test metal with your phone. That sounds a little more like tricorder to me.
  18. Your pictures are to far away to tell anything about the coin. Sorry
  19. Thanks for the offer Liam. I do have some nice raw coins but nowadays I look for graded coins when building a set. That way it will be easier for my clan of 4 girls ,10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to get rid of the stuff they don't want to keep.
  20. Thanks, It is a nice set I have found some hard to find coins. I still have a lot more to go. Lem's set is a quite bit nicer his coins are 67 and up I think he is in the top 10.
  21. I was at a coin shop 5miles south of Charlotte last spring . They had about a half dozen Charlotte Mint AU and MS coins to drool over. Big Bucks . Not that they were better coins it's just you don't see them very often.
