  1. It could have been in a roll of quarters that may have been in a fire there may be a impression of E Pluribus Unum behind Georges wig ? or the eagle tail feathers it may just be a shadow . It is kinda crispy looking But I don't think their is a error PMD I would guess.
  2. That's ok I do it all the time.. it was kind of a joke there are so many variety's and columns in this hobby you can cross-reference all day long LoL.......... No error on your part Idhall
  3. Well I am in trouble then if the price guide only goes up to MS63 .............. I just got this two weeks ago 1884-O MS64....... I think the guide goes up to MS70 but there are none to be found............ Yet
  4. So is Hoghead in danger of messing up the hologram by leaving the GC sticker on there ?? maybe he should move it to a different part of the slab to be safe ?
  5. I got my plane old BS ASE T2 for $40 that is all I need for now. It is not a proof but it is at least a MS 68,69 or 70 in my opinion.
  6. I wonder . a loyalist from Mass maybe.. Edward Winslow
  7. I think the pandemic was different down south my daughter in TN said it was not as strict. Up north where I am it was a ( paranoia pandemic ) everything closed in April 2020 only emergency workers were allowed out in public for a while. A lot of stores were closed for a long time the food stores had special hours for us old people to shop it was a pain in the you know what. So up here only cards were being used and still are mostly.
  8. I have a feeling it is not going to get better very fast. With a credit card world no money is needed, heck you can use your phone you don't even need to pull out a card any more. I think the mint is more concerned with making there high end coins and meeting that demand then the regular coins that cost money to make. I am not sure where that leaves us collectors maybe out to pasture or maybe on a mountain top it could go either way.
  9. they count the notches from the point to the 1 I think ....1 1/2 notch is a close date???
  10. I did find a little green spot on the edge but it looks to dark for PVC damage. The slab case is 20 years old it has been there from day one I would think. Is it anything to worry about or is it time to get the hammer out LoL
  11. I don't think sending it in would change the $ value much Alex, it is the same from G2 to AU 55 . Perhaps a attribution would factor a change, But that would be a question for one of our more knowledgeable member's or DW Lange maybe ?
  12. It does have a die break on the date and at 9 o'clock not sure where to look up that info, It is a 1851 no MM or Philadelphia
  13. It is not in a holder just a card but the weight is correct and I got it from a very reputable dealer
  14. We also picked up this old PCGS 1902 it is nothing extra special MS 64 it should be a 65 but we all think that way. LoL anyway it is the year my wife's Grandmother was born and the year my Grandfather came to the USA and Ellis Island
  15. We went shopping and we got this girl, 1851 2.5 is one of the most common. She is a bit worn out and got a lot of dings and lots of scratches but I don't think it has been cleaned. But in170 years anything can happen . It also has some die cracks . I looked it up and even at G4 it is worth $500 I paid $340 .............Did I do ok today ? or did I lose today ?
  16. Well we went shopping and got some stuff. I found a new ASE type 2 Which is Ok I am not sure I like it as much as the type 1
  17. It looks like a bad paint job with all those wrinkles in the metal near the mint mark.
  18. So what are we are looking for Mike? This is a 1980 Proof set SBA, This is as close as I can get with the scope most mint marks on proofs look bad anyway and this is still keeping with the thread I have 79,80 and 81 as a mini collection because of the different mint marks for all 3 years
  19. I am still amazed when I find a silver coin in a role. Very circulated lots of fine scratches It is not worth much more than $4.65 melt but still to find it in 2021 is my Idea of cherry picking fun.
  20. It could be a crack some of the metal that is missing makes it hard to tell
