  1. Ya Lem I may have to look again. The price drops off so fast a MS 65 is $30 not worth grading a 65 or less a MS66 is $130 it is hard to judge with all the bag contact marks it may be tough to find a 67 but I will pick the ones that I think will grade 66 or 67 and post it and see what you guys think
  2. Ya Kurt They all look like they were swept up off the floor and put in a bag . and Full steps are so hard to find in the older Nickels here is my MS 66 and it is not quite there
  3. Thanks Lem I had a feeling they were UNC after looking again and your MS coins look the same as the ones I have been looking at in my roll. I did find some with Die chips in the date ? looks kinda cool. I did some searching but have not found any to compare them to yet.
  4. Now that I have been hanging around here for a while now I have learned many things about coins from many well scholared members. I think the first is don't be to quick to judge, weather it be a new coin or a new member Last winter I purchased what was labeled as a roll of uncirculated 1960-D nickels when I got home I found that they were quite beat up and looked cleaned. I put them aside saying well( live and learn ) sometimes people are not so honest at what they sell. I decided to take another look to see if I missed something and do some comparisons to some graded MS 65 and 66 nickels I now have. It seams I may have been a little premature in my evaluation. I looked at the coins and saw a bad Monticello and a worn out Jefferson thinking that the coins were well circulated not uncirculated but now I think it is more of a worn Die. and the coins have a week strike and die scratches not cleaning scratches , In comparison they look similar to the MS65 samples I have and some mint set nickels I have. Take a look and see if you think they are just a worn die and a weak strike. The war nickel is the MS65
  5. Wow ........Crooked ....... Man people are unscrupulous with no conscience .. I still have this roll of nice shiny Uncirculated nickels as a reminder of how some people care not what they sell. They must be worth $1000 each on the Crooked coin seller site?
  6. I forgot to mention the book was published in 1968 for the price of $15 My daughter paid $2
  7. Well it is not a reading book it is more like a Redbook with countries of origin , photos of coins with prices of different coin dates. A time in history when you needed a book to keep track of coin values. LoL
  8. Yes everything looks as it should. I had a good feeling about this coin when I saw Nathaniel's photo, A very good find
  9. Wonderful looking coin looks better than a 61 and a good deal
  10. My daughter found this for me today, She thought I would like it
  11. It's that crazy reflection the lights make it look like monster doubled letters. If you tip the coin on a angle the doubling goes away or if you turn the lights lower it goes away almost every time.
  12. Oh ya you got the USB scope covered we never would have found all the marks on the Morgan without it. I have a tendency to not say enough in my wording on comments. Its that fast pace geterdon New England mindset. It gets me in trouble a lot. I am saying I am no photographer and I can get buy with the USB . Now if you took that shot of that new Quarter with your iPhone I would say that you are doing way better than me and my phone could ever do it looks sweet to me.
  13. Oldhoopster and Greenstang have been at this coin collecting a lot longer than me but I have seen something like the ( in god we trust ) as a variety at vista. You may want to look at this . I'm not saying it is the same one but it looks close enough to check it out .Most errors are not worth a lot of money there are so many in Pennies. http://www.varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1955PDDO002.htm
  14. This is kind of cool. I found that my coin was sold On Heritage Auction not long ago for more than I paid for it. That makes it even more special well to me anyway.
  15. I have a stack of new pennies that have a chip on the E of CENT. At first I thought it was crappy zinc bubble but after finding 15 there was no doubt in my mind it was a chip. But my mind is not as chipper as it used to be either.
  16. Sometimes a piece of a coin gets chipped out and displaced and jammed into another spot. Copper is a soft metal.
  17. Here are some close up's of a rim cud and some die scratches White background 99% of the time sometimes red works. Lighting and a bit of a angle so the color will be correct. I am no photographer but I can get a pretty good shot with the USB scope a lot of times.
  18. Fill what you can and wait for that VDB it will show up soon enough.
  19. A guy I buy a lot of my Morgan's from asked me yesterday if I was into world silver coins yet and said he had some Reales he was willing to part with if I wanted. I said no not yet I would not know what to look for, I did not want to say there are many counterfeit ones out there. Not that he would sell me a bad coin but if you don't know what to look for even a experienced dealer can get fooled I am told.
  20. Thanks Haskel ... I am no fan of E-Bay or ESTY I like to look at there prices for a reference purpose and for a good laugh a sometimes I will only buy from a few on-line dealers I have some local coin and antique dealers in my area that I check out all the time and some dealers in TN and SC.
  21. LoL it better be I like the online version it is updated daily and makes my coin look like it is worth more ...up to $150 today and that is without the VAM 37A it has I think the fat rattler slab is worth more.
  22. I look for the old ANACS and fat rattlers all the time around here they are hard to find. I think they got found out a long time ago and are mostly re-graded in my neck of the woods
  23. I don't see to much other than a lot of corrosion on these cent's . Sorry to say they are not worth a lot more than what you see
