  1. I just got a 1961 Washington in the mail. After I got it and examined it I think I've been had. The coin doesn't look like an ms66 coin or the one that was probably in the slab before. I looked it up on the certification lookup and the pictures have been deleted. I guess I should have done that before I bought it. Also looks like the slab has been tampered with. There is also a crusty spot on the back of the coin. I wanted to post it here and get other people's opinions also. I will probably send it back. What do you all think?
  2. That's a beautiful set. I ended up getting it also a little over a year ago. I bought them already graded cause I really loved it when I saw it. I got a case for them and bought an empty government package just for the C.O.A. and put it in the set with them. Some people will probably call me crazy but I really love it and wanted to go through the trouble of making it special in its own case. The C.O.A. fit perfectly in the top part of the case. It's one of the 2 slab leather cases.
  3. Ever come by here again stop in and give us a holler. I got some good lies saved up. That goes for all of you all on here. More than welcome to stop by anytime. We will fire up the grill or fire pit and eat something.
  4. It's very cool that you started this thread. I just purchased one from the next county over from us. It's kinda like my hometown but not really. I do all my business in this town and work there. I'm there everyday almost. And I didn't own any wooden nickels so I decided to purchase that one. I don't have it in hand yet but here are some pictures of it. Found it on Ebay.
  5. Those were my exact thoughts. Someone had it taped to something at one time or another.
  6. I was thinking the same thing. Just waiting on someone else to say it.
  7. Lol. I agree with this 100% @Quintus Arriusis a good dude when you get to know him. I've never seen him say anything out of the way. He questions some things and some people get aggravated but that actually helps get more information flowing out of everyone. I don't mind it a bit myself. I enjoy reading his post but I have to look up some of the words he uses and see what they mean. It's like being back in school again. I've actually learned about coins and took an English lesson at the same time reading his post. He would make a great author.
  8. Not many people like to stop and see us. Not much here. I figured we would see more world coins than what we do though. Every once in a while a Canadian coin or something will pop up in change. Probably more Canadian cents than anything.
  9. It was a Panama coin. It may be pretty common to find them in places but here where we live we hardly ever see anything like that. They were nothing special but neat finds for the geography
  10. My mom found this one in her change today and gave it to me. I know it's nothing special and not worth anything. I just wanted to share it on here because we live out in the middle of nowhere and don't get coins from other countries in change very often. This is actually the first time I've ever seen one of these. I bet the proof coinage is beautiful. I haven't ventured out into world coins yet. Still have several from the US I want to collect and learn more about before I expand into other areas. I really like the design on this coin. If anyone has any expertise and knows more about this coin and would like to add any kind of information then, you are welcome to share it. I love learning and I'm sure others would love to learn also. Thank you all my friends.
  11. That's awsome. I been looking at those. Would love to get one one of these days. Nice one.
  12. That's awesome. Glad you got you a dandy. That's one to be proud of. Thanks for the encouraging words. One of these days when I do get one I'll remember back on this post.
  13. Very nice. I currently don't own any nice seated coins. I got a couple dimes in Very rough shape. I've really been wanting to add one to my collection. Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to add one as lovely as that one. Very nice my good friend.
  14. I worked in Colorado and traveled through the mountains. Some of the most beautiful country I've seen. Would love to go back someday.
  15. Heres one of mine. Where I live in Ky I've been working on getting a few from my home state. @Just Bob has helped inspire me to venture into the token side of the hobby. There are some very cool ones out there. This one is the same on both sides
  16. There are definitely plenty out there. Very easy to come by in circulated condition at a very cheap price. Like Woods020 said though when you start getting up there in the higher mint state coins the price starts getting high.
  17. Very cool article. Thanks for sharing. That was something I never knew and very happy to have read it.
  18. Very nice coins everyone!!!!!! Love those Jeffersons. I've been doing the same thing @Coinbuf. I been taking pics of the whole slab in case I get robbed or something. Getting pics where I can see the serial numbers on the slabs. I been keeping mine locked up in a fire proof safe. I got it heavily bolted to the floor and wall both in my house. The crooks would have to work to get them. They better bring help to load up that safe. Took me and 4 friends a pretty good while to waller the thing in the house and in place.
  19. I don't see how anyone could do that to a very old piece of history like that. They are bound to be off in the head. Very sad to be greedy enough to ruin a very old and nice coin just to get a few dollars out of it. My opinion they are just as bad as counterfeiters.
  20. In the short time I've been collecting I've over paid for a few. Very happy I got the coins I wanted. It was worth it to me because I really wanted them.
