  1. More than likely it is just strike doubling. I looked under Variety plus and they don't list any ddo for this date. It could even be the way the light is shining on it also giving it that appearance I am seeing when I zoom in the picture.
  2. I see some kind of doubling on the 9 in the date. The picture is to fuzzy to tell what it is. It could be true doubling or it could be strike doubling. Some better pictures are needed to determine which kind it is.
  3. I agree. Badly damaged after leaving the mint. Post Mint Damage.
  4. That's a very nice coin. I love it. I got a soft spot for those 2 cent pieces. One of these days I'd like to add a beauty like that to the collection. It's got some character. Die cracks, wood grain looking toning, and other lovely characteristics.
  5. Yea. Wish it would have done good. Still happy to have it tho. I'll win on the next one maybe. I'm still learning how to tell if coins have been cleaned. I've got the fresh cleanings figured out. That one must have been a really old cleaning. I couldn't tell by abrasive marks but now that I look at it , it does seem to have that off color to it. Ill use it to look at and try to learn from it.
  6. Got the results on the 2 cent piece. It's been finalized. It got the dreaded Details grade. It's been cleaned at one time.
  7. That's what I was a thinking. There's probably a small number of collectors who look for things like that. It's definitely interesting.
  8. I'll probably just leave it as it is. I'll probably never sell it or anything. I'll keep it in my collection as a mis labeled coin.
  9. Thank you my friend. I enjoy reading on things like this. I will definitely just keep it in this holder. And definitely excited to learn more about them
  10. I ended up getting this copper in and noticed the slab says 1786 and the coin says 1787. Is this a mistake that is made often. It's not a great example of a coin but I'm very happy to own something that old that is historical. They have a wonderful story behind them. Sorry I didn't get a very good picture. They keep turning out blurry.
  11. I like those. Those are collectable to alot of people. They have several different animals on them. Check out the one with the funnel weaver spider on it. It's a very cool piece of silver.
  12. NGC got a couple of my coins finalized today. I was very surprised to see the results on the Morgan I submitted. The reason I had it graded was because of the marks on it made from a drawbench. I wanted to add one of those to the collection because of that reason. I read in @RWB book about it. When I received the coin it was a bit nicer than I thought it was so I sent it in to have it graded and preserved in a slab. I figured on it getting an MS 63 or so. It got an ms65. I was pretty happy about it. It has some beautiful toning to it. Looking at it in hand it is a beautiful coin. The pictures just don't catch the colors of it. Or my novice pictures don't anyways. Sorry about the glare on the picture. It was the only one I could find that I took of it.
  13. Those are some dandys @Sharann. My favorite is the 1920. I love the color of it. You did great my friend.
  14. Very cool token. Glad you found one my friend. That's awesome.
  15. Thank you my friend. My aunt done some research and found out that he was part of the China,Burma, India Campaign. Not sure what he was tasked with but they helped out on it. I sure wish I could have met him. I did get to join the American Legion under his name. I'm in the son's. My papaw was a member also before he passed on. He used to go down there and drink beer alot. I love to listen to the stories of those old vets telling about the history of our town and war stories. And everything else.
  16. Looking at that picture of papaw he sure has some white teeth. I must have got mine from the other side of the family. What ones I have left look like candy corn.
  17. Here's a couple I got from my home state. I've been wanting to get a few from KY when I can.
  18. Very cool stuff. I love looking at the old historical buildings in pictures. I've seen old ones of my hometown with dirt streets and horses. The same old buildings are still there. Just blacktop now. Well most of the buildings. A couple has been torn down. And some meth heads burned down a couple when their meth lab blowed up.
  19. Here's my papaw in his Navy uniform when he was 18 years old. My aunt had some old pictures colorized. This was one of them. He retired from the brickyard on the above token.
  20. Hard telling how the seller ever acquired a handful of tokens from these parts but they come from 3 or 4 states away. When I first looked I thought it may have been someone local. Look at how many years they survived and made it that far away and now making they're way back home. Very cool history behind these old tokens and coins floating around out there. If they could only talk.
  21. Thank you my friend. I am very excited. I never knew any such tokens existed. I was looking under the search Ky tokens and they appeared. Bout blew my mind.
  22. I have a cheap one. I've found some cool stuff with it though. I may check it out some time. May be some old coins dropped around it.
  23. I'm im super excited. I ended up winning some tokens from my home town. I couldn't be happier. They are worn but worth every penny due to my family history. My papaw on my dad's side worked at the Olive Hill brickyard. And my papaw on my mom's side owned the store from Grahn. My uncle still has the old vintage cash register that even has the tag on it. That says made for Grahn Mercantile on it. The store is falling in but still stands in front of my uncles house. I see it all the time. It blew my mind to see these old tokens on Ebay. I knew I had to have them no matter the cost. The same seller also had another token from my hometown but I didn't want to be greedy so I let the other bidder take it. These are screen shots I took.
