  1. Awsome find my friend. Congratulations on the W quarter. Its very exciting to look down and see that big w.
  2. I agree with you. As much talk and everything around here no one has ever found any evidence. It's all just stories. He said and she said. And most of them have different spins on them. I know a man, really well, who bought a farm on Kinnonick because he was sure the silver was stashed on it. He even hired my neighbors to bring their equipment over and escavate places on it and came up with nothing. It seems that everyone around here knows someone who has seen the famous dollars but no one has any. I always thought in the back of my mind there wasn't much to it but, several around here are convinced its true and keep looking.
  3. That is the same county I live in is where he made them. I think they call them sprinkle dollars. I may be wrong but its very interesting if anyone wants to look it up. I got a few neighbors thats been trying to find his stash.
  4. I heard a story while back. I can't say if its true or not. But several people talked about it around my area. Back in the 20s a man around here in Eastern Kentucky had a cache of silver and was making his own silver dollars. The law supposedly tried to shut him down but when he went to court they never convicted him because his dollars were the same specs and weight of silver as the mints. They even had a write up about it in our local newspaper. Everyone has been trying to find his stash of silver and they say also his dollars are very valuable now because of the low numbers. Now this isn't me rambling on. This is second hand news. I do not know for sure but I have however looked up the article on it. Its an interesting read. Its in lewis county ky.
  5. Thank you gentlemen. I really appreciate it. Thanks for the equation also condor. That really helps in my learning. Being a newbie i really look up to you all. It helps me a whole lot to debate things like this probably more than just reading about it. I wish there was a way I could pay you all back for the help and information.
  6. Thats a nice looking coin Ratzie. I currently don't own any of those yet. I finally got the opportunity to get a 1802 draped bust large cent but its not very good quality and it looks like its been cleaned. But it still interesting to get to hold something in your hand with that much history behind it. Wonder who alls had it and what its purchased back in those days. I love the history behind it these old coins.
  7. I have done a little more research and to my findings I dont believe this quarter is missing its clad layer. I believe it spent some time in the dirt and its nickle layer corroded giving it the coppery appearance. It is also to heavy I believe. It should be in the ballpark somewhere around four and a half grams or so. It is also to well struck. These are some of the findings that outweigh my first theory that it was missing its clad layer. Any opinions would be welcomed. If this sounds more logical, or am I wrong all together, or am I losing my mind ? Thank you my friends.
  8. Thank you my friend for taking the time to look at it anyways. I really appreciate it
  9. Now you talking. Love them pickled eggs. Pickled pork hocks to
  10. Yes sir. I should have in the first place. Soon as I get back home ill post it on here
  11. How can you tell if a quarter is missing a clad layer? I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but, im still new and learning. I found this dark brown quarter and it has little hairline scratches on it. Everywhere it has a scratch it has a copper look to it. I weighed it and its weight is 5.580. Thank you for taking time to read this and help me. Ill post some straight on pics to but this first picture if you look at the scratch by his pony tail you can see the copper looking color.
  12. I never thought about collecting them till I got to reading alot of the threads on here. Then got to looking at a few and got to liking them.
  13. Three more payments and she's mine!!!!!!!! Lol. Just joking around with you all. I currently don't have no tokens but, I'm going to start expanding my collection and start trying to buy some. I've been looking at several the last few days and fell in love with alot of the designs. Especially the old civil war tokens. I believe that's where I'm gonna start my collection. You all have posted some really nice ones. I love it!!
  14. I've found several modern quarters like that too. Here's one I dug up and cleaned off and putting back into circulation.
  15. I've dug modern dimes up metal detecting before that had turned black. Could be environmental damage.
  16. They have a great big four wheeler ride where I live around Thanksgiving day every year. Thousands of people go. Luckily I didn't go this year. A girl from another state came down and was hanging around all my friends and several other people. She started having symptoms the next day and took a quick test and showed positive. A few of my friends put themselves in quarantine and a couple of them are now showing symptoms. It only takes one infected to spread to many. I agree with you.
  17. I done that about 3 weeks ago. Had it for a week. My nose run like a sugar tree also. My test came back negative as well.
  18. I looked at some of those the other day on the internet. They are mean looking hogs. Big sharp tusk sticking up. Cool looking coins.
  19. Id like to see what it looks like in a few years. If it tones on out or anything. Or gets different colors to it.
  20. Thats my biggest problem. Trying to convince my wife. Lol. She said she already getting fed up. She don't understand that I need some of them coins.
