  1. I agree. im a beer man but if im gonna drink whisky its Turkey 101. Makes me gobble.
  2. Im a little bit afraid to go near it with a tooth brush. I did some experimenting on some old junk cents one time and it wasn't pretty. A little bit of brasso and few other harsh chemicals and a toothbrush and it really did some work on em. Lol.
  3. I think the can I have is acetone. Ill make sure tho. If not ill stop by lowes and grab a can. But whenever I soak it how long do I leave it in for. Do I just dip it or soak it a couple hrs. Also when done do I rinse it off with distilled water.
  4. Aint that pretty much paint thinner. I think i got a can of it. Or is there a special kind I need to get.
  5. Thank you all very much. How long do I let it sit in the acetone.
  6. Would i be better off just to leave it alone and hope for the best.
  7. I have decided to start collecting 3 cent silvers. I really like them a whole lot. Probably one of my favorite coins. I recently purchased my first one and it was in a cheap cardboard flip and it was covered in small shavings from the cardboard board. Well I took it out and blowed them off and noticed 3 or 4 tiny spots of green corrosion in a couple spots of the coin. It is hard to see them but they are at the bottom of the star on the left side of it. I looked at it under a microscope and it is definitely something on there. Kinda looks like it has the texture of mold. Anyways how can I get it off the coin without damaging it before it continues to grow. Thank you very much for any help. I really like this little coin and I'd like to save it.
  8. Thats awesome my friend. Glad your living your dream and standing up for your values. You remind me a whole lot of my dad. He was a no nonsense, stand your ground type of person. He didn't care to tell people how it is also. Hope the best for you in Alabama
  9. 😭😭 Don't get the snowflakes to crying VKurtB. 😆😆 Them snowflakes want freedom of speech to just be one sided.
  10. Lol. I noticed that when I went to look em up. I knew I was being messed with then. First thing came up was a bunch of women modeling yoga pants. Lol
  11. Thats bout what I figured it would grade. I figured a 61 or 62. Those scratches hurt it pretty bad. I hit in the ballpark pretty close. Im a learning. I will have to look into those. Never heard of them before. I need to try to buy a few of them. I got several nice coins worthy of preserving, but not worthy of having slabbed. Thank you my friends for giving me some good advice and information.
  12. Im gonna have to disagree with you Moxie 15. The gold infused Ike's were minted at the north pole. If you don't believe me ask Santa Clause. Im not sure if that's the gold infused one or not. I need about 6 or 8 more pictures of it to look at to make a determination.
  13. My wife sure isn't gonna let me live it down. All I heard for 2 days is " I tried to tell your dumb a#@ !" Along with a few other harsh words. She gets mad anyways whenever I go to spend any money on this hobby. She really got tore up when she found out I threw 60 dollars away to slab a contaminated coin.
  14. That big scratch proof slab might not be able to contain it. Lol.
  15. ] Thank you for taking the time to help me. If I ever encounter that again ill know. Sometimes people gotta learn from stupid mistakes.
  16. Ill probably just keep it in slab and have it to look back on. Use it as a learning experience. Do you recon over time it will spread or will it stay that size.
  17. Lol. I had it slabbed not knowing any better. Just a stupid costly mistake I have to learn the hard way from. It is the very first coin I've ever had slabbed in my life. One those nookie mistakes
  18. Thank you all for the input. After seeing your responses I think I will just purchase some air tites and put it in one.
  19. I purchased one of the 2020 s silver eagles when they came out from mint. When it came in it had a blue spot on it like it had got hot or something. You know how when you stick a torch or something very hot to a piece of metal it leaves a blue spot. Thats what it looks like to me. It could be something else. I have never seen anything like that on a coin. Anyways my question is what process at the mint would cause that? Also, is that a common occurrence or what could have happened? Do you reckon it was missed at quality control? Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at it.
  20. Thank you all for weighing in to help me. What my plans were was trying to maybe help add a little value to some of the better coins I have. I figured if I put a little money out of my pocket into grading a few I was hoping maybe a few years down the road my kids may be able to get a little better price out of them if they are graded. I figured it may help a little on the value long term. But that particular Morgan had those scratches on it and I couldn't really tell if those were just bag scratches or if someone tried to very lightly clean it. To me it doesn't look cleaned but I'm still learning. I haven't quite got the eye for it yet. I did however see a couple more I got burned up on that I bought off ebay. They were definitely cleaned. I just had got into the hobby and didn't know what I was doing. I have learned a whole lot from reading the different post off this forum from you all. Still trying to learn. But I gave 60 dollars for the coin above. Did I pay to much. Also what do you think it would grade if I do send it in. I really appreciate the feedback.
