  1. One thing I was wondering about on the die making is how Philadelphia made all the dies. Did they also put the mint mark on the dies destined to the other mints? The answer may be further in the book but I wanted to stop reading for a few and make conversation here. Also if they do add the mint marks has there ever been any known mix-ups in the shipments and a die accidentally used where it shouldn't have been?
  2. It does. When I bought that set it was like a mystery box. It had never been opened. I had to tear the envelope to get it open. I fell in love with that blue nickle soon as I saw it. The Franklin has a real light pink color covering most of it. It is very light. Ill probably go in the hole on them but I'm probably gonna have them slabbed. Ill never sell them myself. My kids may one of these days. I figured even if I take a loss my kids will still have nothing in them and they will bring them a dollar or two if they need to sell. And will be protected also. The Rosie looks really nice also. No toning but very nice shape. The quarter and cent not so much. They got ugly looking spots on them that look more like milkspots on the quarter. The cent just an ugly look to it.
  3. I lied to you. Its a "62" Its hard to get a good picture of it in the package. Cant find no good lighting no where in the house. Also the light glares off the cello. I had to take one those angle pics everyone loves so much. Its hard to tell the bluing from the pic but it is a beautiful light blue covering the whole coin. I wish you could see it in person. Ill post it in next post cause it says its to large. Im still trying to figure out how to crop photos and things like that. Sorry to hijack your thread Lemmy
  4. I need to work on my pictures also. Im going to try that app see how it works
  5. I agree. I never had any intention of buying it. I was just looking at a few and comparing them to the ones on NGC counterfeit common section. And that one caught my attention. I didn't like the looks of it. Its way out of my price range also. I wanted to get other opinions on it for a learning session. Im trying to learn how to spot counterfeits.
  6. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1914-D-Lincoln-Cent-Wheat-Penny-GEM-BU-Details-K611-/313361965376?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
  7. Soon as I get off work ill take a picture and show show it to u. I usually get home around 6 or 7 in the evenings. I looked through my phone. I thought I had a pic on it but I guess not.
  8. I found this 1914 D Lincoln cent on Ebay for around 2300 dollars. It looks like its got an added D to it. I compared it to other ones I was looking at. But my thoughts on it is its weaker than the rest of the details on the coin. It doesn't seem like the right look to me and it seems to high. I want to see what others think before I post the link because I could be wrong. But its off from other ones I've looked at.
  9. I like them alot also. Ive been on a quarter kick here lately but I've had my eye on a couple nickles im thinking about buying. I also got one in a 63 proof set that has turned a real pretty blue color im thinking about sending in to slab. It is flawless. I think it will score a nice grade.
  10. Thats a very nice Jefferson. Love to have one like that in my collection. Congrats on getting the honor to add it to yours.
  11. There's really nothing no one can gain by seeing the cert number. Unless they try to counterfeit one and use it to counterfeit a slab label. They can't use it in no way to get none of your personal info or nothing
  12. That is a sweet looking medal. Congrats on the 66.
  13. You aint one of those Las Vegas Elvis impersonators are ya KING ? Lol
  14. Thank you. I love those old historical photographs and the stories behind them. A person can almost put himself there. Wearing one those old hats and the old mustaches with the curls on the ends. I always was a history person.
  15. Im excited that my boys are starting to get into it. Especially my oldest son. My younger one is starting to come around a little more than he was. Hopefully I will be able to take them to a coin show sometime and it will be a great experience for us all together. They would definitely get into it more then to see all the interesting things and lots of people around explaining things to them better than I can.
  16. Thank you Mr Lange. I will probably purchase the Kindle. Ill keep my eye out and if I ever see someone selling a used copy ill try my best to nab it. Looking forward to reading it.
  17. That was a question I was thinking as well. Maybe some saftey or security reason perhaps?
  18. Beautiful coin. I love how they used the Morgan dollar reverse. I might have to try and find one of those.
  19. Be great to find something like that to put in the collection wouldn't it. Im wanting one also.
  20. Birthday set. Happy birthday set. Congratulations sets. Lol. The list goes on dont it. My goodness. Then look on Ebay trying to find a certain coin and the only one you can find of it says happy birthday set or whatever on it. Lol. Drives me crazy. I think your right. A used car salesman got a job at the mint or something
