  1. Here's a 1926 I bought slabbed for $27.00. It is a ms62. They bout got to be in mint state to be worth much unless they are one of the key dates or an error coin. I probably paid to much for this one. I just wanted it pretty bad. Its one of the lower mint states.
  2. My wife is a nurse in Morehead KY. She got hers also. I went to drop her off at work the other morning and elderly people were lined up around the block. They only had 700 and when they got down to the last few people were fighting over them.
  3. Nice find!!!! Be a good one to stick in a coin flip and preserve it.
  4. Sounds like a good idea. I got all kinds of stuff to build something like that. Got acetylene torches, welder, grinders, drills, etc. Ill cobble something up.
  5. It really bothers me to see it. Once its done its ruined. No going back. I wouldn't have the heart to do that. Supposed to be preserving them. Not altering them. Some people don't care about nothing but greed. Don't care if there be any good ones left for our future generations to enjoy. Sorry to carry on like this. It just frustrates me to see people deface something like that over 100 years old just to make a dollar.
  6. That is the cable cutter I was talking about. Kinda use a design something like that to hold the top die while you hit it.
  7. Thank you for the info. Ill give it a try this summer and let everyone know how the project turns out. Be a good learning experience for the kids and I both. Ill take a 14 pound sledge hammer to them. I can make a thing kinda like a cable cutter to hold the dies. Make the lower die stationary and the top die where it will raise up and down. Then give it a big whack. Ill study up the rest of the winter and get more knowledge on metal compositions. Thank you for the info Roger.
  8. It does have a real pretty color to it. It was hard to capture in my photography. I couldn't get the right light angles. It has a really nice cartwheel effect to it when you turn it in the light.
  9. I believe the coin looks just a tiny bit over graded. Thats why I used to for an example to guess at on here. Comparing it to that 34 side by side it looks a whole lot weaker.
  10. If noone guesses by time I get in this evening ill post a picture of the whole slab
  11. After reading about die making id like to try and make a working set of dies sometime. It won't be nothing like what they make at the mints but I'd like to try and make them and just strike 1 or 2 tokens with it. It would be a fun project. My son and I are in the process of building a forge to make some knives. Could probably harden in it. Find the proper metal to do it with. May try to this summer. May work out and it may not but it be fun to try. And also spend time with my kids. I got a friend with a lathe if I can just figure out what to use to strike them in. Got some hydraulics but they don't have the speed. Ill have to try and figure something out.
  12. Yep. The reverse is what done it in wasn't it. I noticed that when I got in and looked at it. I didn't notice that as much last night. Its was hard to tell till I took the picture then cropped it up. Then I could really see it.
  13. I looked at some on Ebay and there is this one guy on there that all his stuff looks way to good for some reason. No flaws on any of them. And he hasn't sold very many neither as you would think someone that has been dealing in them a long time. Looking at some I know is real that are reputable dealers, their coins have certain little flaws here and there. All his are to perfect.
  14. I agree. It is very weak. And that big thing on his neck looks like he's got in some of those ear bud deals my kids wear all the time.
  15. Its very surprising. I dont think it looks near as good as the 34 in my personal opinion
  16. PS: I don't know what that line on his neck is. Kinda looks like a struck thru thread or something holding the coin in hand. Cant tell by pics but it runs up into his hair. Maybe an eye lash or something , cobweb, or maybe my lying eyes playing tricks on me.
