  1. Was 1933 the last year they minted the Saint Gaudens? I was looking thru a few issues of the Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine and you could buy a 1931 or 1932 for around 80 bucks. Big price jump over the years. We're the 1931 and 32 pretty common? I also saw where a 1907 sold for around $90. It said in the book the 1907 was very rare. Im looking forward to reading more about these. Sounds like there is alot of history behind the saints.
  2. The first time I sent one in it was very frustrating. After I figured it out it wasn't to bad after that. I did the online submission form though. They usually have it step by step when you fill it out online. Just make sure you read everything carefully.
  3. I thought the same thing. If it just colors and not scratches. No one take my guess seriously because I'm no expert. Just wanna take a stab. I believe what Bsshog40 is saying. It had something to do with annealing. Then when it was run thru the rolling machines it came out like that. Before the planchet was stamped out.
  4. Could it have been improperly annealed and when it was run thru the rollers to flatten it out into planchet size , make those lines in it. Before the planchets were stamped out. Kinda like those old Morgans that were pulled thru a drawbench
  5. Thank you so much. That is a very inspiring and touching post. I can tell you are a very good hearted person. You have a wonderful evening as well.
  6. I wrote that wrong. I meant to say get his book and read it and save up for a saint. They have always been my dream coin. One of these days before the good Lord calls me home I'm gonna own one. Somehow someway. Don't know how I'm gonna pull it off yet but I'm gonna own one.
  7. I may slowly save up for one and read his book. Seems like everytime I try to save up for a coin I end up needing the money. Vehicle breaks down or something. I wish I could find me a steadier job. The weather affects me a whole lot also. Winter months are horrible. I could do good if it didn't rain and snow everyday.
  8. Those saint Gardendale sure are beautiful. I'm hoping one of these days I will be able to get one. I've learned a whole lot reading your thread on them. Great info.
  9. All the stuff I've learned the only thing I ever do is maybe an acetone dunk. No scrubbing or anything. Or rinse with water. If the stuff is still on them after that then it can stay on them. If it's worth getting graded then it can go to NCS cause I don't trust myself to remove it.
  10. Me too. I've learned so much from these guys and gals on here. Met some very good friends also.
  11. I never knew there were so many varieties. Thanks for sharing that Mr. Bill
  12. Glad to hear your still ok in this mess. Hate that everything froze up on ya. Hopefully everything will get back to normal soon. I seen videos and it looks pretty bad.
  13. That's a dandy looking wheat. Got some beautiful color to it. Nice find.
  14. In reality that sounds a whole lot like my life story also 😆 that's why I quit shaving
  15. Lol. Been working on it. Getting prettier everyday. I can't wait to get up and look at myself in the mirror in the mornings.
  16. I only found 1 2020 and it was the Sonoma bat quarter. I found a couple 2019 ones while back. Searched for a year and nothing. Then found 2 in one roll.
  17. The engraver couldn't spell very good could he? 🙂
  18. I've seen some pictures it looks like they took from the other side of the room. Had to read description just to see what they were
  19. The 97 will probably be a little pricey then won't it? Hopefully I will be able to dig one up one of these days. Be a good one to find and pass along to kids and grandkids.
  20. I'm sure glad I got my hind end whipped when I was young. It put the fear in me not to want to do bad things or disrespect people. I thought dad was being mean at the time but got older a realized he done it because he loved me and wanted me to turn out to be a decent person. I really appreciate him doing that for me.
  21. That don't bother me none. That just gives them character. I'd rather have the authors signature on them. Makes the book a whole lot more special. Can show my grandkids one of these days and tell them how I talked to the guy who wrote it and signed it.
  22. You have to look over Ratzie. He post all kinds of common coins and argues they are some kind of rare special struck coin. It gets ridiculous sometimes. He starts name calling if you disagree with him also.
  23. Awsome man. Can't wait to read it. I'll have to hit wizard up for another autographed copy if you are going to sign any. Be happy to read it and add it to the collection.
