Woods020 got a reaction from The Neophyte Numismatist in Post your most recent acquisition: US
I have been trying to stock up on FS Jefferson nickels. It’s harder than I imagined to find 6FS coins. This is a beauty for sure.

If someone is telling you these things don’t buy it! Have some common sense
Here is the real question. Can you explain how during the minting process a one and an ear ring can be placed on the coin? If you can not the rest doesn’t matter. And to answer my own question it isn’t possible. It’s damage mixed with pareidolia
Do not ever believe extraordinary claims, particularly from someone selling a coin, without extraordinary evidence.

A tradition I hope many of us keep alive.

Woods020 got a reaction from GoldFinger1969 in Why would a Brilliant Uncirculated not me MS
They both get to the same thing. Both are just catch all phrases used to mean uncirculated. MS is also used to denote a circulation strike from proof.
What I think your question is, is why is it not numerically graded MS-xxx. TPGs do offer this type of grading to simply denote uncirculated. Some large dealers do it to save money on grading while still getting it in a holder.

I finally got my Sigma Metalytics tester back and sure enough, this coin tested dead center for a Pre-1900 silver coin.

Woods020 got a reaction from Hoghead515 in What effects will Putin’s War have on the price of gold?
Did you see that some Ukrainians captured some of the Russian tanks and listed them on eBay? Funny enough the government took notice and said they would wave sales tax. The one I saw was 50k euros. The only catch is it must be picked up on Ukraine…..

Agree with Woods020
That story the seller is telling you both is fictitious and impossible to happen.

It sure looks good but I dont want to say for sure. It will help to also look at the feedback and see if it is a reputable seller. I always check out the sellers on everything I buy on there anymore.

I remember when I was a very young kid I would look thru dads coins all the time. He wasnt a collector or nothing. He had a cup that had a few wheaties and buffalos. Bout all culls but I thought they were really something when I was a very young age, around 6 or so. I loved those things. I think thats alot of the reason I collect now. Started with that cup of junk coins. They are still priceless to me now even in the rough shape. He eventually gave them to me and I still have them today.

Geez. I need to try and get mine a grade bump. I have a Proof 68 for this one, and it’s the most flawless coin I think I have seen. This one hurts your eyes to look at it. I love this coin, but I guess I could be persuaded to part with it for a steal at say $50k 😂. It’s currently at CAC, but I can easily ship it to you as soon as it gets back.

Not that it is enough to impact prices, but I was at a fairly large coin show this weekend. The majority of the crowd was looking for hard assets. Junk silver, silver rounds, ASEs, and gold both raw and graded carried the show. Some numismatic interest but largely bullion seekers. Now this was in Chattanooga TN, where there tend to be more bullion stackers but it was still up. Contrasted with a show in Memphis last week, interest is largely up with inflation soaring and the uncertainty of the war. People are looking for hard assets.

As a kid back in the 60s my dad use to set all the kids down and have us go though coins with him. It is a fond memory I have of spending time with him. I know most of them are not worth much money but they are priceless in the memory department. I thought I would stat shearing some of them.

I’m at a show in Chattanooga TN this weekend, and picked up this beauty today. Nicest 09-S VDB I have ever owned for sure. Pay no attention to my quick cell phone snaps.
@Coinbuf I thought of you when I was walking away with it
