  1. I happened through Meridian Mississippi today on my way back from a work trip, and looked to see there was a small coin shop there. No expectations. I ended up with these three. The guy was very nice and reasonable. I’m not a big Franklin guy, but he has very nice franklins galore. A few top pops I saw. I have a hard time passing up anything with a star that is justified. The seated dime is in a really old and cracked ANACS slab graded MS 64, and I paid 64 money. The toning is beautiful and I and going to get it reslabbed and feel like it has a 50/50 shot or better getting an upgrade. We shall see. But the eye appeal sold me.
  2. I know you said you had it tested and came back silver, but just for arguments sake have you simply tried to see if a magnet is attracted to it? A strong magnet preferably.
  3. That $€!+ eating grin on Charles’ face should be telling compared to an original.
  4. You have some nice coins. Nothing to the extent of a nice 1916-D merc. Nonetheless I doubt seriously if anyone is going to make you much of an offer on any of it via pictures. They need to be pro level photos for anyone to even consider it. Like Kurt asked if you want to share where you live generally someone may be close to give you a proper appraisal of the coins in hand. These suggestions on here are general guidance and anyone willing to shell out top dollar for coins will want to hold them or they be slabbed.
  5. Can you slow down? Post one coin front and back per post? It’s the only way anyone can keep the coin straight with the correct obverse and reverse
  6. You got something mixed up. Two 3 cent nickel reverse and a bust half reverse.
  7. I saw my first sign on a convenience store door since being back in Alabama today saying they were short of change and only taking credit card. I immediately thought about this thread JP.
  8. I’m still curious where you happened upon an unknown 1916-D that someone thinks would go higher than MS 66? There were 264k total minted period, and not many in mint state survived. I believe only 7 known higher than MS66 in full bands. Those don’t get found every day. It should have bought you one heck of a new car. That coin will probably be my biggest purchase of a coin in my lifetime when I bite the bullet and complete my merc set. And I dream to be able to have an MS 64/65 FB. That is my white wale.
  9. The 28 D looks high AU (almost uncirculated). The spot I have circled is a concern but I can’t tell much about it. If it’s a scratch it is an issue. Assuming, and this is a big if based on what we can see, it is an AU58 you are looking at roughly $125 give or take. Graded it may be $145, raw it may bring $120. But again I worry about this I have circled. And it may be lower AU
  10. The cropping is much better but as you can see they are not focused. They will appear to us just as blurry as they do on your end. With coins pictures are hard enough but image quality is essential for anyone to give you anything meaningful information wise I do see a black spot now atleast haha.
  11. If it helps I’m 38 and can’t see much in these pictures half the time. I’m going to have to get a big screen with senior citizen type font size soon I think! 😂
  12. I went to a local coin show, the Alabama Numismatic Society, show today. It’s not really a numismatic society but a yearly show. Anyway I bought I think 8 or 9 things. A few Mercs I needed, a Franklin for an album, etc but this was my favorite. This is one I think the true view pictures don’t do justice. The toning is lighter in hand and it’s really an appealing coin graded MS 66+. I left if a couple times negotiating and the third time I went back to the table I had to have it. It will fit nicely into my slowly accumulating type set.
  13. That is some great photography! Nice coin but the pictures are impressive
  14. I considered that one also. I think it had some slight doubling in the 1 and 7 which is a diagnostic. But it was missing something I thought. I can’t remember what it was I didn’t see. But that’s why pics are so hard. It’s minute details you are looking for let the eyes rest and pick it back up in a day or two. You will figure it out. That’s the fun!
  15. Dusty, I see you have gotten a lot of good responses and I agree with them. Based on the pictures provided, you have the following: Circulated/low mint state quarters. Unless there is a known variety roughly $5 in silver value and not much if any collector premium. Half Dollars pre-1965 (walking Liberty, Franklin, Kennedy) - other than a couple Kennedy’s they appear to be circulated. If you want to give us dates we can tell if they may be a better date. Those are worth silver value of roughly $11-$12 The Kennedy halves some appear to be uncirculated but they are very common. You might get a small premium for a nice one Peace Dollar - Unless it’s 1921, 1928 or 1934 D it’s more than likely a $30 coin. Silver value is about $22-$24 but they get a small premium right now. Bicentenial Eisenhower dollar - what mint? If it is S (San francisco) it is 40% silver. Other than that not worth more than a few bucks unless it’s type 1. We would need to see clear pics of the reverse to tell you. Regardless not a real valuable coin. SBA dollars - a couple bucks a piece more than likely. An exception or two might make them $10 coins but not worth a ton. I know less than nothing about notes, but I think $2 bills are extremely common and not worth much. And it was folded. Someone can give better info. Long story short these are nice to start collecting with and a great gift from your grandfather. None of them are worth a whole lot financially, but the value is in the memories and the gift he left. He thought enough of you to keep them for you. You can learn a lot about this hobby from those coins if you want. I hope you enjoy!
  16. Can you post closer pictures? Cropped just to the edge of the coin. It looks like some haze in that area but I can’t tell for sure
  17. It’s very hard to match some of the VAMs via picture sometimes. You are at the right place on VAM World. It may take some time. Look at 1C and 1J. If it doesn’t match there are several for that date.
  18. Yeah it’s definitely got heavy clashing. I just can’t seem to match it to a VAM. It’s always missing some of the markers. 1C and 1J were the first guesses, but it doesn’t seem to match it all
