  1. I agree the marks and blemishes could be concern. But as mentioned until you have in hand you won't really know if on slab or not, so no reason to worry at this point. And I am surprised how fast your turn around was. Congrats on that.
  2. "Too much agreement kills a chat." - Eldridge Cleaver (very appropriate for a chat forum)

  3. “Any person capable of angering you becomes your master;
    he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him.”
    ― Epictetus

  4. The full context could be interesting. However, I doubt that will be forthcoming. Bigger picture, those type names being directed at anyone (even if in a joking manner) will typically elicit a reaction and get reported. Even if the person the comments were directed at is not really all that offended. Easy ammo for someone to use against the person posting those type comments. So better safe than sorry just don't use those words if directing them at someone.
  5. Welcome and agree the close ups are good. Also, when posting pics include a photo of both obverse (front) and reverse (back) of the full coin.
  6. Agree. Stifling a vigorous discussion is not good. Clear violations are much different (the KKK issue that came up recently) than disagreeing in a strong manner. So as long as the mods do not hinder passionate discussions, address "reporters" targeting individuals, and do not get suckered into some sensitive sally's victim mentality regarding a disagreement, I think all will be good. Now for those not liking disagreement or someone's style of posting there is always the ignore option. I do think the boards can be very self moderating if everyone puts their grown up hats on.
  7. If you like tax tokens I suggest finding a copy of "United States Tax Tokens And Stamps: A History and Catalog" by Merlin k. Malehorn and Tim Davenport. Has a lot of information and then a chapter on each state and the associated tax tokens and other items of interest. In regards to your tax token - est 60,000,000 mintage and there are 7 major die varieties - the SE in the word "purchase" is the easiest way to tell which variety. It appears yours is S1B as best I can tell from you picture. Washington also has paper tax scrip (est 7,000,000 printed). Varieties here include front/back right side up as related to each other and front/back upside down as related to each other.
  8. Fixed typo and man story of my life. From hero to zero in one fell swoop
  9. I agree. I still say some of those of the rules are not as black and white as they appear on paper. And from what I have seen in my short time here on the forums, we also have members with seemingly personal issues with others and will in my opinion try to use the report feature to bring unnecessary trouble to those they do not like.
  10. OP have you submitted this coin? You have numerous people telling you it is cleaned. You are faithfully clinging to your assertion it is polished. In a nutshell: submit or get off the pot.
  11. And I suppose we have to wait until Thursday to hear about it
  12. Yes please simply state what you mean in this case - or do we need to wait until Thursday as you say in another post.
  13. I suppose from NGC perspective the rules are black and white - from forum members (as well as admins) the rules could be highly subjective in my opinion since it is humans making the final decision. But that being said, report away as it has to be reviewed before being removed or further action take. I would also say to the admins @dena- a member that reports regularly and frequently others posts (whether it be posts from various members or more specifically posts of the same member) may need looked at and action taken just as the person whose posts are being reports. This will help prevent a targeted campaign from occurring via the reporting tool.
  14. Interesting as I am not sure how horribly you could been treated (yet). Because people do not agree with you is that your version of horrible? Time to join the real world my friend. There are very few times in an online forum you will post something that someone can not find to pick at. Advice or info you came here for - I will give both. ADVICE: don't be a whiner as you paint a bullseye on yourself for people to pick at your posts. Disagree if you want, but no need to play the pity poor me card. INFO: ALLOT is actually "a lot". Now please let me get back to the discussion between Kurt and Mark.
  15. Perhaps show some other of your nickels and then tell us what you think is different about them.
  16. You and several others from what I have read. Keeps things interesting as you just never know what replies a comment is going to receive.
