Nice collection.

My suggestion would be to purchase these coins already graded from a trusted dealer. Most of my modern coins have been acquired by bargain hunting on auction sites.

Maybe you just want to experience the submission process. That is part of the learning but you'll soon find it a costly endeavor. The money you save buying pre-graded can be used to purchase more coins.

After attending Pittsburgh last year which was the most enjoyable show I've ever been to, I put Chicago on my calendar.

I've decided to pass. Way to much going on in the Chicago area that I choose not to experience. I'll show patience and wait for 2026.

It would be all about enjoying the hobby rather than making a living. Don't get me wrong, I would still want to be in the black but zero pressure for a lifestyle supporting bottom line would be great.

My area of interest would stay the same but the grades would dramatically improve and I would add gold to my 20th Century Type Set. 

I would consider becoming a Coin Dealer. Shows only, no brick and mortar. The focus would be on meeting and talking to collectors rather than profit.

Look up each item at the Sold Auctions section on Ebay. That will give you a good idea of the going prices.

A dealer will only pay roughly 60 or 70 percent of those prices but they will usually buy all the coins at once (easiest way). If you have some common modern coins, most dealers will not even want those unless they are very high grades.

So...you don't like it but you submit to it. It only happens if we let it happen.

I use cash whenever possible and avoid CC only businesses.

I find it ironic that the snack bar at Central States last year was CC only. Probably necessary since it's difficult to hire and when you do, most cannot count.

To the OP, I'm not sure if we will or not but I don't think it would be good for getting new/young collectors into the hobby.

I've had great luck buying on ebay. Being a long time seller, great pictures, and feedback go a long way in my decision of whom to purchase from. 

I have seen some listings that are so ridiculous I don't understand how someone would fall for it.

My local dealer pays .03 each for junk wheaties. Go through them, then contact a local dealer and see if they're buying.

I downloaded the pic from @EagleRJO's post. It is oriented properly in my downloads but when I post it, it is rotated 90 degrees the other way.

Thanks to all for the help. I'll play around and see what I come up with and try a smaller file like @powermad5000 suggested.

The first paragraph is correct.

Portrait is tall or the correct way you would display a pic of a slab. Landscape is wide or rotating the slab 90 degrees. This is what I get. 

I take my pictures in portrait. When I download in choose files, they are in portrait. When I post, they are in landscape and I can't figure out how to turn them??? What am I doing wrong?

Nobody wants to see a sideways coin. Thanks for any help

Hey guys, great news! Just saw a news article stating that O'hare is now home to 400+ Illegal Immigrants. Wonder what that number will be by August of 24? That should make everyone comfortable carrying their backpacks/briefcases to and from the show.

I attended the World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh last week. After a disappointing Central States experience earlier this year, I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a better selection of inventory and the displays and competitive sets were very interesting. There was the 20 or so empty tables like Central States but I was there on Tuesday so some dealers may not have arrived yet. There may have also been a VKurtB sighting.

I was able to purchase two coins for my collection, both nice for the grade.

I was also looking for a 1914-D VF/XF or a 1931-S 63/64 Lincoln Cent. There was plenty of inventory to choose from but my previous purchases exhausted my budget.

Already making plans to attend next year and I'll definitely plan on two days. The only bummer is I'll have to drive through Chicago.

I've been doing some research on moderns and have come across a few eye openers in the census.

I guess there is a thing called lowball sets for whatever reason???
