Nice collection.
My suggestion would be to purchase these coins already graded from a trusted dealer. Most of my modern coins have been acquired by bargain hunting on auction sites.
Maybe you just want to experience the submission process. That is part of the learning but you'll soon find it a costly endeavor. The money you save buying pre-graded can be used to purchase more coins.

After attending Pittsburgh last year which was the most enjoyable show I've ever been to, I put Chicago on my calendar.
I've decided to pass. Way to much going on in the Chicago area that I choose not to experience. I'll show patience and wait for 2026.

Toning on silver coins doesn't seem to affect grading in a negative way anymore than blast white affects it positively. Eye appeal is just personal preference. Some call it toning, I call it tarnish. I only buy blast white even if it's a lower grade because the coin is more pleasing to me. It also seems that certain series are held to a higher standard than others as far as marks in the field etc And yes, milk spots are a deal breaker for me. A blast white, FBL, high grade Franklin Half collection is a very tough accomplishment.

I can see the value in that, Teddy. Do what you CAN do and enjoy it rather than the drudgery of work.
All kinds of shows...small ones, big national ones ?
It would be all about enjoying the hobby rather than making a living. Don't get me wrong, I would still want to be in the black but zero pressure for a lifestyle supporting bottom line would be great.

My area of interest would stay the same but the grades would dramatically improve and I would add gold to my 20th Century Type Set.
I would consider becoming a Coin Dealer. Shows only, no brick and mortar. The focus would be on meeting and talking to collectors rather than profit.

Look up each item at the Sold Auctions section on Ebay. That will give you a good idea of the going prices.
A dealer will only pay roughly 60 or 70 percent of those prices but they will usually buy all the coins at once (easiest way). If you have some common modern coins, most dealers will not even want those unless they are very high grades.

It is already happening. There are store that won't take cash now. Most people are paying with credit cards. I rarely use cash or coins.
I'm not thrilled about it because I question that having all of my economic transactions recorded is a good thing.
So...you don't like it but you submit to it. It only happens if we let it happen.
I use cash whenever possible and avoid CC only businesses.
I find it ironic that the snack bar at Central States last year was CC only. Probably necessary since it's difficult to hire and when you do, most cannot count.
To the OP, I'm not sure if we will or not but I don't think it would be good for getting new/young collectors into the hobby.

"Want" coins are visible to others that look at your custom set including pictures and comments. It can be used as a way to show coins that you have but have not sent in for certification (especially if you have a rare or scarce coin that you know would not get a straight grade)..
Thank you! Great info to enhance a custom set.

You obviously have not spent most of the last twenty years in the United States. If you had, you would surely understand how that could happen. Stupidity and ignorance are these bottomless wells of gullible brain death in our national culture, and that there is no such thing as a scam so ridiculous no one would fall for it. In a developed and educated country, perhaps, that might apply; nowadays, ours is neither. Not only will people fall for it, but they will walk, crawl, or dive into any scam.
Any.
Sad but true.

Again ..if you would like to have your coins graded you may do so by submitting them to NGC. We cannot "pre grade" any coin for you. You have the option of either mastering coin evaluation and grading or submit your coins blindly which will not be financially beneficial. If you never learn how to grade a coin you will always be at the mercy of others to do it for you. This hobby or field requires education and restraint. There are many books and other information as well as online classes that will teach you all you need to know about grading. This takes time, education and experience looking at coins. It will not happen overnight. Please take the time to educate and invest in yourself before you invest in coins.
What do you mean by "we"? Unless you are a Moderator, you don't speak for me. If you didn't want to answer the OP's question, you should have kept scrolling.

I've had great luck buying on ebay. Being a long time seller, great pictures, and feedback go a long way in my decision of whom to purchase from.
I have seen some listings that are so ridiculous I don't understand how someone would fall for it.

My local dealer pays .03 each for junk wheaties. Go through them, then contact a local dealer and see if they're buying.

Hello,
Is there a way to organize reports by denomination from lowest to highest?
To expand on my question, is there a tutorial on reports?
Thank you!

I downloaded the pic from @EagleRJO's post. It is oriented properly in my downloads but when I post it, it is rotated 90 degrees the other way.
Thanks to all for the help. I'll play around and see what I come up with and try a smaller file like @powermad5000 suggested.

I don't think the op is referring to how it appears on his phone or the camera app setting. The rotation would happen to some pics I had which I didn't take or view on my phone, which I think has something to do with how the forum handles attachment pics. I wasn't able to find any related forum settings.
Also, I think the portrait/landscape description by the op is simply their way of describing that the forum occasionally rotates a pic 90 degrees when it is posted. I have seen numerous posts where it looks like this rotation has occurred when uploading and posting a pic.
The first paragraph is correct.
Portrait is tall or the correct way you would display a pic of a slab. Landscape is wide or rotating the slab 90 degrees. This is what I get.

I take my pictures in portrait. When I download in choose files, they are in portrait. When I post, they are in landscape and I can't figure out how to turn them??? What am I doing wrong?
Nobody wants to see a sideways coin. Thanks for any help

Hey guys, great news! Just saw a news article stating that O'hare is now home to 400+ Illegal Immigrants. Wonder what that number will be by August of 24? That should make everyone comfortable carrying their backpacks/briefcases to and from the show.

It’s a case of horrendous overexposure. Too much already. PLUS, while it’s a great place to fly INTO, very convenient, it’s a pain in the backside to fly OUT OF. And if you’re too close to fly, and you have to approach it from the south, it’s a bloody nightmare. Also, world mints have made it abundantly clear they’re not interested even a tiny bit in Rosemont.
Yep, driving and approaching it from the south. Like I said, bummer.

The ANA has a formal policy regarding sales taxes on coins that effectively eliminates New York from consideration for an ANA convention until legislative changes in Albany occur.
And we all know that'll never happen.

I attended the World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh last week. After a disappointing Central States experience earlier this year, I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a better selection of inventory and the displays and competitive sets were very interesting. There was the 20 or so empty tables like Central States but I was there on Tuesday so some dealers may not have arrived yet. There may have also been a VKurtB sighting.
I was able to purchase two coins for my collection, both nice for the grade.
I was also looking for a 1914-D VF/XF or a 1931-S 63/64 Lincoln Cent. There was plenty of inventory to choose from but my previous purchases exhausted my budget.
Already making plans to attend next year and I'll definitely plan on two days. The only bummer is I'll have to drive through Chicago.
