  1. Roger & Goldfinger: In all my years, off and on, on this forum this Post ranks in the top five for being historical and interesting. You have done well guys and you both deserve an 'Attaboy'. Now, if there may be 640 bags of gold coins, era unknown, then Mister Bayerle will make out good. At today's prices for gold, and possibly some silver, 10,000 pounds is a good find; yes?
  2. That may be it. A fellow would have the duty of proving to the 'Backers' that there was treasure and it's worth the cost of recovery. You make some very interesting points.
  3. @Hoghead515 I'm sure it will be a great looking set when you finish. I can't wait to see your end result.
  4. I read that but......that can't be all that's holding up the show.
  5. That 78 S is a dandy. San Fran minted some good looking coins 1878 to 1890. Hey Hog - IMO that 54 Half should have got more than 65. Very nice toning.
  6. As I said I like NGC. They did a whopping good job on my Carson City gold coins with Conservation and regrade. I sent in 3 $20.00 CC DEs three years ago and two went up 1 grade. What I guess I like most about NGC is their specialty labels.
  7. That is scary. I just recently sent my Carson City collection to PCGS and had them all looked over for authenticity and the reholdered in the Gold Shield NFC anti-counterfeiting holders. But this makes me nervous about future buying.
  8. I had to do some research but you are right. Samples of those really shocked me. Here's one......... Added to say: The person who bought that 5 figure coin must have been heart broken.
  9. May his soul, and all the souls of the departed, rest in peace on Coin Talk.
  10. Let me muddy the waters if I may. I do not think PCGS or NGC has much of a 'premium' on them if the slab does not have a Green or Gold CAC bean on it. Just my opinion; that's all.
  11. Yes and I think some people who are members of both TPGs believe that. I use PCGS for all my Carson City Coins 'except' my Carson City gold. I have a long time personal rule: Silver to PCGS and Gold to NGC. Don't ask me why; I just seem to like they way they do it. Now I do have a small Buffalo Nickel collection in NGC Holders and NGC Buffalo Labels. I like that. PS: Great comment of yours.
  12. In searching the Web I cannot find if any of the loot was yet recovered.
  13. My regrets that NGC doesn't give Life Sentences.
  14. Never happen! 'SickCoins' is predominantly a You Tube numismatician. Oh lookie; I made a new word!
  15. That 1934 Half is beyond words. Stunning doesn't begin to accurately describe it. The 37 too.
  16. You'll never convince this one of that. It must be one of us that's the problem.
  17. That's part of my reasoning. When one of these so called 'Newbies' goes on Etsy or Alibaba and buys one of those 18th Century 'gold' (LOL) coins then comes here making the statements about their 'wonderful' find. Then, when a few of us describe it as fake the argument of how unlearned we are begins. And it will never end. How many posts by knowledgeable people, or people who truly come to learn, get over ridden when the troll keeps his post going.
  18. YOU did NOT give us YOUR opinions. YOU told us that very famous and well known people in the field of Numismatics were communicating to YOU that you had these fantastic errors. Go back and reread YOUR comments.
  19. Oh, we have. These good people on this forum, who have decades of knowledge in coin collecting, have been patient with your one after another Walmart parking lot finds. Only a troll keeps posting junk coin pictures by the dozen, and then attempts to con people and continually argue with people into believing well known experts validate his pathetic creations. I do not know if you are just a lonely person needing attention or a fool trying to disrupt this forum. Yes, we have seen your 'story'.
