  1. No kick back on this? Some people on our forum don't seem to mind being made a fool of. I submit: Parking lot found coins being posted as 'errors'? Coins mechanically altered being submitted as rarities and errors? No, it can't be. I must be missing something. Perhaps someone can give me the 'inside' information on this phenomena, eh?
  2. I must disagree. The coin must be graded by NGC or PCGS BEFORE it is sent to CAC. When it is returned, with or without the coveted bean, the grade remains the same. It neither gains nor loses a grade in the process.
  3. The problem with your statement is: CAC has been in business since 2007 and has developed a hobby wide reputation for certifying some of the most appealing coins being offered today. It is not unreasonable to believe a person new to our hobby has done his homework and read the publicity, comments, etc. about this organization while attempting to acquire information on the hobby.. So, to want the finest coin available may not be a matter of the heart but certainly is a matter of the mind. However, there are a few who do try to learn anything about collecting.
  4. Call me a pessimist but I do not believe this is the first time and in past two months. The NGC Forum has had more 'Newbies' show up in the last two months than ATS has had in years. Are we getting popular?
  5. If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything. ... Benjamin Franklin
  6. I would like to present this scenario: Dealer has a beautiful 1884 NGC MS 66 Carson City Morgan Dollar. Dealer sends coin to CAC where it is rejected. In comes Mr. Newbie and falls in love with coin. Mr. Newbie asks Dealer "Has this been to CAC for a look?" What do you think the dealer will say?
  7. Your comment belongs in the Newbie Coin Collecting Questions forum. Thank you very much.
  8. Guaranteed! Just a basement slab job. How much did you pay? Looks like something from 'back in the day' of Photo Certified. Who sold it originally? PS: NOT an NGC Black Retro Holder and that MS++ is a dead give away.
  9. I must have missed something. How is the USPS doing this? I have delays but mainly because I did something wrong (ie: request a signature when going to a PO Box). See below: Tracking Number: Scheduled Delivery by FRIDAY14 MAY2021by 3:00pm Status Delivered May 14, 2021 at 1:46 pm ANCHORAGE, AK 99519 Get Updates Delivered Text & Email Updates Proof of Delivery Tracking History Product Information
  10. Agreed. One package from Sarasota, FL in 48 hours another in 7 days. I don't blame the USPS personnel with everybody under the sun doing mail order. Our little Post Office has had a sign out for close to a year now saying 'Help Wanted - Now Hiring'. Good luck with that one with Unemployment Comp off the scale.
  11. EBay BIN right now: 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS-63 #071 US $69.00
  12. Hope you get what you want and you're welcome to my share. I bought in to that Old San Francisco Mint Morgan Dollar look alike thinking to flip them real easy. Sale price = $39.00 EBay today = $32.00 Be careful what you wish for.
  13. Coin World 2021 Morgan and 2021 Peace silver dollars may become annual series By Paul Gilkes , Coin World Published: May 7, 2021, 7 AM
  14. Nope. I might have been until the Mint decided to turn it into another States Quarters deal. I'm also a collector and not a 'Dealer' so that automatically puts them out of my reach.
  15. A matter of what is more important I would think. The Peace Dollar is larger and more readily recognized I think. Just my opinion; that's all.
  16. There are a lot of monuments and government buildings that substitute the V for our U. Not just in the US but all over Europe too. Don't ask me why; I think it would have been just as easy to make a W. Maybe they ran out of space.
  17. Fiducia is the Latin word for trust. In the Latin language originally there was no letter “u”, only “v”. Or rather, there was no distinction, between those two letters. They didn’t have lowercase letters, either.
  18. What's their offer? Sounds interesting and I 've been threatening to get rid of my Silver. Too heavy and taking up space.
  19. Coin World 2021 Morgan and 2021 Peace silver dollars may become annual series By Paul Gilkes , Coin World Published: May 7, 2021, 7 AM United States Mint officials are giving serious consideration to make the 2021 Morgan and 2021 Peace silver dollars the first coins of an ongoing annual series. Mint Director David J. Ryder raised that possibility during a May 4 Microsoft Teams video conference with numismatic journalists. The enabling legislation, the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act, Public Law 116-286, grants the Mint authority to issue additional Morgan and Peace dollars dated 2022 and beyond as an ongoing series. Ryder said, during the online meeting with numismatic journalists, that he favors the continuation of the series beyond just 2021. Finalization of such a decision will be determined, Ryder said, based on demand for the 2021 releases. Anyone sense a rerun of the State Quarters type program. Every year a new Morgan and a New Peace Dollar.
  20. 62 if you're lucky but I would say 61. That obverse really looks roughed up. Sorry.
  21. I was checking out the forum ATS and it seems people have about gone wild over this 21 Peace and 21 Morgan. I sure hope it doesn't turn out like the Old San Francisco Dollar. And the US Mint no longer enjoys a reputation of getting things right. . 2006-S Proof San Francisco Old Mint Silver Dollar 1 Dollar (San Francisco Old Mint Centennial) - United States – NumistaPre-Issue Price:$35.00Regular Price: $39.00Final Mintage: 160,870 $32.00 or Best Offer on EBay right now.
  22. One time, some years ago on the First of December, I mailed a check to a friend of mine, a miner in Chicken, Alaska 380 miles from Anchorage. After two weeks he started emailing me 'Where is it?" I kept saying "The check's in the mail"! Again and again with the phone calls and emails so I sent another. Well, on Christmas Eve he called to say he got the one mailed 1 December. Only 24 days to go 380 miles! Maybe it went by dog sled, eh? Patience is a virtue. Seldom found in man and never in woman!
