I bought the holder not the coin.  Well, sort of....Okay, so the last thing that I needed was another 1945 S Walker, as I already have a beautifully toned NGC 66 that is very well struck up and another white and very sharp for the issue PCGS 66.

I bought this 65 because it is my favorite NGC holder--the fabled green-labeled, gold-foiled, no-line fatty!  The coin is a gem and has decent yellow-gold, original color, too, so it's not too shabby--just maybe a little soft but that is typical for the issue.  Oh yeah, and it has the little green CAC sticker, too, so all is well and now it must be a grand slam LOL!

I paid double sheet for it but I'm okay with that, at this point in the game.  Thank you for looking and enjoy.  Any and all comments are welcome.

But do Spinks or Marsh publish catalogs that cover the entire world for a 500 year span?  Any specialized catalog that covers a single country can do a more indepth job, but to cover the whole world that way you would need about 350 books.  And then how often would you have to buy another set?  The Standard Catalog served a needed purpose.  I certainly hope someone that has the money to put into it and do it right purchases it.  I know Whitman toyed with the idea of a world catalog along those lines but never did anything with it.  This would be a good opportunity for them rather than having to create the data base and gather the images from scratch.

Just think about the confusion there will be when Say...mintage of African countries Gold coins are documented at wrong numbers from several sources or worst, copy cat companies spring up and rush this vital resource...Chester had the Sources...him and that other person...wonder if the family was involved in any silver speculation???

So bought an 1822 50c local coin shop they graded it XF but when i sent to ngc for grading

and encapsulated came back VF details cleaning. Did notice hairlines under the dark toned coin. I normally don’t go out on a limb with raw coins and i know why.. inexperience.

I can remember getting 2 out of 5 as not cleaned...don't feel bad...that certainly is a tougher issue for no problem grading these days....my favorite years are 1814 & 1827, I like the common dates also, I'm into the Overton also...on like every one...I have to believe the rarity scale also in my opinion....peace

  4. In previous posts I laid out some possibilities for the circulating rarity that the mint was tight lipped on....

One of our assumptions turned out correct!!!

On Feb. 15th in the "Circ. Rarity U.S. Mint Release" Topic I started I suggested that a West Point Mint marked quarter Rarity could be what the mint was hinting at....

FORUM MEMBER "CONDOR 101" ALSO SUGGESTED THE LOW CIRCULATING MINTAGE FOR THE QUARTER ALSO WITH AN "S" OR "W" MINTMARK...HIS ESTIMATE OF 10 MILLION FOR THE MINTS RARITY NUMBER IS CORRECT!!!

The information and conversations that NGC Chat Forums Inspire is AMAZING!!! There are knowledgeable persons contributing here and just like in Grading...our Forum & Posts are TOP TIER....Thanks NGC!!!

This just scratches the surface of the possibilities that lie ahead in Modern Numismatics, the opportunities afforded to us by the U.S. Mint will surely help get more people to enter into Our Hobby!!! Possibly our Hosts will develop a Special Holder for these coins also???

U.S. Mint News, and all the major Coin News Publications are covering this announcement now.

    https://www.usmint.gov/news/inside-the-mint/mint-releases-first-ever-w-quarters-into-circulation?fbclid=IwAR3UPadASnZSj0xKrUHxzoHHwkwXYvZRkr1RgCBcHbgcYqq-ihman7eVNzA

I know many feel the U.S. Mint sometimes is behind on progressively enforcing new Artistic Designs and Program Implementations but this is a major step in the Right Direction!!!....peace

Which probably means the fakes are getting safely tucked away into long term collections and will come back to haunt us years from now.)

Exactly, by that time I wonder if it will be like it is now? Or will the new owners have smarter phones which scan coins and tell them if it's fake or will people seek knowledge and determine on their own?

The one thing I can not get over and it's been for so many years, is, why would anyone buy a coin, then wonder if it's real, fake, what it's worth or spend any Money without learning what they are doing? And I guess people are burdened with collections so I understand that part I guess...but I guess if I inherited a stamp or beenie baby collection I'd be the same way? Or not cuz I can still read......peace
