Just saw several Zim coins dropped on ebay last night, one would be an upgrade for you. Maybe your competition dumping their duplicates? 

...they will eventually, but very low priority n very little interest in that "collection"...seriously doubt if the catalog would ever be reprinted....

It sounds like a great idea to buy a 1924 $20 double eagle in memory of your grandma.  I have a 1925 $2.5 gold piece that my grandparents received as a gift for their wedding in 1925. It graded AU58, so the person who gave them the coin must have got it from a bank.  It must have been sentimental to them because they kept it their whole lives. After my grandparents both passed away, my dad purchased the coin from their estate.  Likewise, when my father passed away, I purchased the coin.  I plan to pass it on to my son after I am gone.  I think it's a great way to remember someone you love.

I like small pans / small sets and projects but I definitely don't necessarily need more except as I declare some more or less finished - like I've now more or less declared an end to the work on the 500L, the Zimbabwe set, the half penny and penny Rhodesian sets.
I'm happy to go for the type coin for the 2L for the 1986 set but I'm not going to mess with a date set. I'm not even fully committed to a full date set on the 5L and 10L. Mostly dabbling for a bit of fun.

Thanks! "A Bale of Turtles" is the name I gave my turtle note set on the PMG side and it'll probably be the name given to this coin set if I ever formalize it into a registry signature set.
No clue on the queen though. The coin is a 2017 issue. If it was from the mid or late 1990s I'd blame the kids. Lol

I understand your frustration at loosing 1st place. I have a set that I have gone back and forth with 2 other collectors taking turns at 1st place. It's a set that no one is really close to getting to 100%. The pieces that are lacking just don't come up for sale much and when they do the condition can be less than appealing. Fortunately my set has a significant lead for now but that could change in a heartbeat as you know. Here is the set if interested:

I like Ben's paint job better, looks like his has seen some action and stomped on some other mechs. 

Some 16 years into this journey I find that I do far far better with type sets and mint/year sets where-in every coin is different than with date sets where every coin is more or less the same. Where I have had success with date sets it is with series with short runs - 15 years seems to be about my limit.
My Zimbawe and Venezuelan sets - my main claims to fame this decade - are both type sets. These Rhodesian sets are manageable for me at only 5-7 issues.

If you do not count the NICU stay when he was born, we're up to 5 hospitalizations in 3.7 years. 2 Shunt revisions. 2 bouts of pneumonia / possible meningitis in this case. it just seems massively, massively unfair to a child where, every time everyone meets him, they talk about how sweet and loving he is.

...kiddos into numismatics, no problem...having had 6 kiddos im a pro...they all started out liking shiny things, but as they entered their teen years their preference was for the kind u buy things with, this quickly escalated...(currency seemed to prevail over coins?)....now its mostly bars n ingots from the monarchy of Bullionia....easy peasy...

most likely they will...urs may end up being the variety "discovery" coin...u may have to convince them its a major or significant variety or in this case a "mintage error" coin... i have had some success in getting variety status attributed to a few of my coins....

My experience is that NGC typically beats there turnaround times, but you wouldn't get that impression if you read the posts in the ASK NGC section.  I agree, don't get your hopes up but I think they'll ship back ahead of schedule. 

...u may be in for a surprise...i submitted 14 submissions in various tiers, received on 1/29/22...3 of which i have received back, 7 of which r currently in quality control, 1 which is in encapsulation, 1 in imaging...n 2 scheduled for grading.....
