I don't know if the Barber Collectors who follow auctions realize this,
but, Barber Collector extraordinaire, John Hugon (who passed away
in 2010 ) had not one but two great Half Dollar collections.
His 2nd collection is featured in Heritge's Central States sale next week.
Some great stuff being offered - it's well worth your while to check out this sale.
Good luck and please report back what you added to your collection !!
You know I will .... (thumbs u

Two newps - upgrades: PCGS 45

I thought the coin was on the edge of the next grade -
and it seems as though that CAC thought the same thing...

Jim:
I don't know what to tell you about the 1915 Half with the spots.
I'd send it back to PCGS for review - they might have a remedy.
DO NOT crack it out !!

The point of this Thread is to show images...
why would we be bored looking at images of
Barbers ?
Welcome, LogPotato !!

Jom,
I was on the fence about that Dime myself.
I had my eyes on a Barber Half - and had to
make sure I had enough funds to pay for it - so,
my bids were few and far apart.
Nice coin... very nice really.

I was updating my Registry set - adding info to my newps.
I found this image on the PCGS web site - listed for my newp:

I finally got my two Barber Errors imaged....
The 1895-O Dime - aside from being the only collectable Key Date of the
entire Barber Dime series, is unique to the date as a Die Cap.
The 1898 Quarter is unique for the entire Barber Quarter series as a
Die Cap, Full Brockage Reverse.
Images by Todd Pollock at the Baltimore Convention this past weekend.
Many thanks Todd.

Picked this 1900-Phila up at Holsonbake Numismatics today.
Although its a duplicate to the one I have in my set, you can't
go wrong with a pretty Barber.

My good friend, Manorcourtman, [ Chris ] mentioned that he
was on the fence on these two coins - and decided not to bid.
Both raw and on eBay - and I think that there was an excellent chance
that at least the 97-S Half would have graded. Its 99.999% of an AU 58.
Without the coin in hand, its hard to tell from these images if the coin
is completely original - or not. The 95-S is very nice as well, but Chris
thought there were hairlines.
{ I need new glasses - as I don't see any hairlines }.
Any opinions ?

Spare of the moment purchase... Just thought it was a neat quarter.

Jim,
Glad to see you found your Half for the raw type set .
Knowing your price basis for it, I'd say you did very well.

A friend of mine, LogPotato, mentioned that this raw coin might
be of interest...
..... all I can say is that is an interest... and I hope it gets into a 40 holder !

The last image seems to have been up for awhile -
and although I like the coin a great deal - it's time for
a change...

This is on its way to me from the gals at JJ Teaparty.
I have not seen it in hand, as yet.
Looks pretty nice to me thru the images, though.
