  1. Mike, what did that 1920 SLQ grade out at? FH?

I'm guessing MS65ish, and if it isn't FH, it's awfully dang close!

    Great looking piece!

Sorry I didn't mean to ignor your question.

    It's a MS 65 ( no mention of a Head anywhere on the slab ... :o )

I really wanted to stay within my preset parameters of 63 - 64+ but,

    I just couldn't resist this lovely lady's charms !!

  2.

    Thanks, guys.

A friend thought it might have come from JOM's collection.

It was bought on line last evening on eBay via PuffyDaddy.

I paid for that toning, believe me, I can hardly wait to slip it

in its rightful place in my collection.

I'll have the deposed 1920-P in PCGS 63FH with me in Phila

for sale ... In case there is any interest.

Next Two - From a company I did business with years ago - strange thing is,

the 1915-P in PCGS 58 - actually was my coin out of the Dansco Album -

and was immediately accepted by our Hosts [ NGC ] as one of my coins. lol

From the Gals at JJ Teaparty !!! :applause:

  4. I left off at a new group I repurchased after a few years in a friend's collection.

He decided to upgrade coins from my 2nd set - and can't blame him, 99% were purchased raw - and when I first started getting back into coins after a

    20 year break.

Mistakes were made - "one man's 58 is another man's 45 as they say."

Here are a few "old" new coins for my 3rd set !!

    EDIT: To add coins images.

It seems like yesterday [ well, not quite ] that these were first issued

and I remember liking them immediately. Now, the new Shield Reverse

    has taken over the design.

Were you aware of the Shield Cent designed by Charles E. Barber in 1896 ?

    ... Bob, that's a great looking coin. Congrats !!

Here's another newp for the 1861 Date set...

  6. While at the ANA in Colorado Springs co-teaching the course " The Coinage of Charles Barber " - a very good friend of mine from the southern Denver suburbs invited me for the weekend to look over his massive Barber collection.

We did some horse trading - sometimes swapping coins grade for grade and date for date because I felt some coins looked better in his collection and some looked better in mine. We were both very pleased with our decisions and then he decided to show me the duplicates he was stuck with for his Dime collection. Considering that I had provided him with over 90% of the Dimes in his collection, I decided to buy back what he was "stuck" with. lol.

I now have a good handle on another collection - but this time - the set will consist of XF's as well as AU's.

Fast forward to this past weekend and the Summer FUN auction run by Heritage, I decided to pick up a few of the Key Dates [ I was bagged on the 1895-P in AU 50 however ]. Well, another 6 dates - plus the eleven from my friend - has now gotten to me - the bug is definitely bitten me again !!

Tonight, I landed this coin - its a tad too "nice" for the newer set - but old habits are hard to break....

I promise to get the newps up on this Thread soon.... I hate to see the Thread slip so far down.

Last I looked it had over 92,000 hits. ...
