  1. It can and does happen, usually its a by product of improper storage. Some people very much like toned coins and some do not, deep cameo refers to when a coin looks black and white. The fields will look black and the portrait/letters look white (copper in the case of cents). I don't have a photo of one of my DCAM Lincolns so I pulled this obv from the NGC explorer.
  2. Sorry but just Pareidolia, a fancy way to say that the mind sees what it wants to. That is not even close to the size or shape of the mint mark used for nickels.
  3. Looks to be just MD (mechanical doubling) or die erosion not a true double die. This type of doubling is very common and very often mistaken by new collectors, MD is not valuable or collectable. I've attached a photo to help demonstrate the difference.
  4. Welcome to the boards, you are more likely to get replies by starting your own thread instead of piggybacking on another one. Also most of the replies to questions in this section are answered by fellow collectors (like myself) and/or dealers not by employees of NGC. The way to tell the difference is that employees will have a light blue background surrounding their name everyone else is dark gray. As to your question die cracks and die chips are interesting but do not; in most cases; add any value so there is no reason for folks to pay (grading plus the extra fees for variety/error service) to send them in. Submitters of modern coins are mostly interested in ultra high grades, only an extreme die crack or large retained rim cud would be worth the money to send in. So while NGC graders may have seen many 2020 dimes, I doubt that any have been submitted for the reasons you ask about.
  5. If you had a redbook you would have the info you need.
  6. I was talking to a representative for Ship and Insure about reactivating my account there. She said she thought there was a discount for NGC members when shipping to NGC (and perhaps to CAC?) through FedEx. Is there any information you can provide on any shipping discounts available to NGC members. Regards
  7. Read the thread on the marketplace section and your questions will be answered, keep in mind there are not a lot of active participants on this forum so you will not be getting tons of eyeballs seeing what your selling. Also this is not ebay and bidding threads are not allowed, its bad form and there are not enough buyers here for that to be useful anyway. Just my personal opinion you will have a much better chance to sell your items on ebay then here, and you can use the marketplace to advertise your auctions from places like ebay. Just be polite and don't spam the marketplace forum, threads shouldn't be bumped until they fall off the first page.
  8. The green spot in the middle of the milk spot looks active, best up close photo I have seen of a milk spot.
  9. I am sure it will happen but there was never a firm timeframe only that the first awards are scheduled for Aug 2021. As that is still over a year away I am guessing a launch sometime the first qtr of 2021, but that is just my uninformed guess.
  10. Welcome to the boards, for us to give you any info we need clear cropped (non angled) photos of both the obv and rev of the coin.
  11. I will preface my remarks by saying that I don't collect moderns so I haven't seen enough examples of these to have a strong idea of what the mint quality was or the pops for each of these. So with that in mind, in order: 1) 2009 Northern Mariana Islands - very clean and hit free but the photos don't show any discernable luster. If the luster is strong I would consider this one as a possible submission candidate 2) 2009 Virgin Islands - same as above not seeing any luster in the pics. 3) 2019 Guam - Very nice and seems to have good luster, almost prooflike from the photo. I probably wouldn't submit this one due to the reeding marks on the obv portrait. 4) 2019 Guam - This is the one I like the least, the obv has a long gash across the cheek and hit on the neck area. The rev has what looks like some haze on the left side, this might come off with acetone. This one does have what looks like an interesting clash mark on the top of George's head. All four are great album coins and the two 2009 coins might be good for submission depending on what the pops and luster in hand are like. If there are already a lot of high grade examples of these two in the pop reports then it might not make financial sense to bother with them even if the luster is great.
  12. I too am hoping that the op will update with pics of the edge, from what I know most coins struck out of collar will show damage along the rim on the obv and/or rev. Perhaps if this was struck out of collar by just a smidge the edge should show some signs of scraping or damage
  13. I don't know where you got this info but not everyone is rounding up, I know I have not been.
  14. You are not correct this is from "The Lincoln Cent Resource" The top of the 1 in the Small Date is level with the top of the 9. In the Large Date the top of the 1 is below the top of the 9 The coin you have in your op photos the 1 is below the top of the 9, you have a lg date and that's all it is. But if your convinced please send it in, its your money and your education.
  15. I an wondering if this coronavirus scare and the recent stock market devaluation that is in part tied to this issue will have any effect on auctions and coin buying in general. Often when something like this happens the "non-essential" spending is put on hold, do you think this will have a short/long term effect on the spending habits of collectors?
  16. Does anyone have an example of what the photo vision looks like that they are willing to share? I have a couple of coins I'd like to submit and am wondering if the $8 is worth the price. In the past I have mostly used Mark Goodman for pictures, and while I consider him the very best if NGC does a good job I might opt for that on these to save the extra shipping costs.
