  1. Cleaned coins are hard to predict prices, here is a link to an AU details (cleaned) coin also graded by NGC that was sold thru Heritage Auctions. 1921-D NGC graded cleaned AU The coin I have linked sold for $600 dollars just back in Sep of 2021. Using that as a guideline I think that @Woods020 price range is correct
  2. Very nice, congrats. Did you also send in the 1921? Edit, nevermind I see you have a separate thread on the 21
  3. Welcome to the forum, it depends on what you are slabbing and why. If you are doing so for the sole purpose of reselling on auction sites then for some coin types using PCGS may result in higher hammer prices. If you are doing so just for your own personal use then it really does not matter and I would suggest that you review some of the coins from both services that are similar to what you plan to submit and see if one service grades a bit more like you would. For future reference this section of the forum is used for selling or buying coins, you will get more looks and interaction if you post general questions in the newbie or US coin sections of this forum.
  4. Yes those new photos tell the story, you would be wasting your money to send this coin to any TPG for any type of service. That does not mean that you cannot still enjoy the coin just that it will not benefit from conservation and has an almost 0% chance to straight grade. Get a Kointane type of holder and just enjoy it for what it is
  5. That will be interesting to watch, I expect that you are correct between the provenance and the CAC approval it will fetch a strong price. I put it on my watchlist just to see where it ends up, this MS66+ PCGS CAC is one that I am also watching; already over what I paid with 9 days left. And at the same time there is another PCGS 66+ but without the bean also on GC and under $300, this coin could be quite a bargain. 40-S in 66+ with CAC 40-S 66+ without CAC
  6. A lot, just under 2K, but I look at it this way. At 2K I'm getting almost (perhaps equal) the same quality of coin at 1/4th the price of a non CAC MS67, I was willing to accept and pay the price knowing that. And as I said paying 8 or 9K for an MS67 is just not something that I feel comfortable doing, that is a lot of money tied up in a single coin given the rate of gradeflation that has been happening over the past five years. If 9K was just pocket money for me then it would not matter, but spending that much only to see the MS67 pops double at some time in the future and the value plummet is not a risk that I am comfortable taking. This MS66+ coin provided an acceptable risk/reward calculation for what I think is a very appealing coin, and the CAC bean should help keep any downward price movement to a minimum. I have not looked at the numbers but I do think you are correct that this change will put my set into the #1 slot for overall and NGC only scores for now, that was not a goal or desire for my set but this NGC coin is just so nice that I could not resist what I saw as a way to improve my set with the best coin.
  7. Welcome to the forum, the 1921 Morgan looks to be in AU condition and is not a good candidate for grading/slabbing as the value in a slab vs raw is not that wide. I have no idea what date/mm that modern quarter is because the photo is cut off, it could be worth it if it is one of the quarters minted in West Point in 2019/2020 depending on the condition of the coin. Please read the post at the top of this section, it contains some really great and helpful information that will help you get up to speed on what and how to post. One thing that you need to know is that for us to answer your questions we need to see both sides of the coin not just one.
  8. Welcome to the forum, that is a very pleasing coin to look at, congrats.
  9. Nice frankie there @Hoghead515 has the eye appeal of a higher grade.
  10. The photos do not seem to indicate a gem level coin, maybe with better photos the opinions would be different. I would not be shocked if it came back details ex-jewelry, the obv rim looks pretty chewed up from 4 to 6 o'clock. Also what do you see that you think needs conserving? The TPG's only use the conservation process when there is something on the coin like active PVC or haze on a proof, I do not see anything in your photos to suggest any foreign substances on the surfaces.
  11. I would be very suspect of any information from this "coin guy" perhaps the coin looks different in hand than it does in these photos but there is no doubling of any kind showing in your photos. The coin does seem to have some hairlines that indicate it may have been wiped or cleaned at some time in the past, perhaps prior to your grandmother receiving it. Photos, as I said the best photos are those that are sharp, in focus, and look like the coin when you are holding the coin in your hand. Please know that when you ask for help and opinions providing good photos will result in the best answers, if we cannot see what you see we cannot be of much help.
  12. I have no idea on who or how others have advised on your photos, the best photo is one that looks like the coin when you are holding it. As to this coin, can you explain what you are seeing that makes you think it is a DDR? I do not see any signs of any type of doubling in your photos.
  13. This photo was posted by another member not the op.
  14. @Legionary1 we have discussed the 1940-S half and the difficulty/cost to purchase one in the MS67 grade. I am happy to say that I found the next best thing, in last months Stack auction I bid and won an MS66+ CAC example of this date. This will be as close as I will ever get to that MS67.
  15. I understand perfectly what you are saying, it is my opinion that you are wrong plain and simple.
  16. Same as before, just an ordinary New Orleans coin that has taken a hit on the mintmark.
  17. Glad that the procedure went well and wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  18. It could be, if there was a link.
  19. I have no idea, not really a big issue for me as I do very few submissions and I actually store my coins in Intercept Shield boxes. The few plastic bins I do have are just for holding a few coins when I have brought them home from the SDB.
  20. Glad you got it figured out, that function is one of the more misunderstood and underused functions in the registry.
  21. I had a seller send me the wrong coin last year, I was lucky as he had just swapped it and still had the correct coin. I hope you are successful in getting the coin you were expecting.
  22. Worse etsy types are now showing up in droves on the coin forums like here and ats. Ebay I can deal with as I spend very little of my time there and only look at a few select sellers or items, but infecting the forums is really starting to lessen my enjoyment of them.
