    What a blast!!
    Friends,
It took a year to get the grading funds up. I finally got the chance to send in all the nice quarters I saved for the state quarter set. With 86 MS quarters and 19 SMS quarters I am down to only 14 coins missing from my set "Rick's Keepers" to complete it. I was also pleased to help another set (P.C.) with additions to get very close to the NGC top rank.
One more submission later on should achieve the goals for both sets, his and mine. Also helping (V.P.) as his set grows full of MS67's.
Next will be a blast of 2009 and parks S mint quarters I found in rolls. I hope to get these sent off in early April. It's great fun when I get the chance to help others build their sets!!
    Happy Coin Collecting

Far more than I even imagined!!!
    Friends,
It has been a while since my last submission. A few years ago I decided to build a modern set of State Quarters. Grabbing a large group of rolls I started the simple search to find MS67 coins in fresh mint rolls. I had been watching RollingCoins come up with so many whoppers for sale that I thought why not give it a try.
My first submission was a tough lesson on the series with MS64 to MS66 grades with a couple MS67's. Good study on overall strike and luster headed the second submission in a better grouping. My largest mistake was submitting coins I needed for empty slots instead of MS67 or better. The second submission had more MS67's than the first but now I was pulling PL's for grading. That was in 2014 and I was very happy to add the submission when it arrived home. In 2015 I spent my extra cash on sets that were already graded in the Lincoln series. I also purchased more state quarter rolls at the time to search for more additions to add in my grading box.
Finally in February I decided to get my membership updated so I could submit the stash of state quarters I had spent days on end searching for. I would say that overall I have searched 10 rolls for each mint mark in the set. Some date and mint mark have yet to even show a promise of MS66 or better. I sent in 86 quarters for this submission and will still have 8 coins needed after looking at over 50,000 different fresh minted coins in rolls.
I never knew how much was involved in finding the perfect coins that some of these type guys send in. I commend them all for the time they spend finding the great additions they offer us to add to our sets. The submission I sent in should be completed early next week and will be the grand finally ending of a larger than I imagined search.
    Happy Coin Collecting,
    Rick

    golden memories rekindled
    Friends,
As I had some extra time today to enjoy the coins in my sets I noticed many missing pics. Catching up on Lincolns, Jeffersons, Washingtons, Roosevelts, and Ikes pictures brought back some memories as to when I found them. I had to stop when I got to the Ike in the pic below as I never entered pics after I had it graded and forgot just how beautiful toned it was.
Still some pics to add today if I feel up to it but here is todays special. My Golden 1976 Ike.
    Enjoy,
    Rick

Do I have something clicked wrong here on my page?
    NGC,
I have looked up a few registration numbers the past week and the listing is in Chinese. Is it your platform, me, or my computer?

    Free download
Reading Jeremy's post I decided to check out his pics. He is getting some good pics entered. Getting the auto focus to pass the slab and get to the coin inside is a challenge for sure. I wanted to give those that have no editing download a fun cropping download that I have been using the past year.

    Getting ready for 2016
    Friends,
As for the usual every Jan. 1'st I do a order from Wizard Coin Supply to get more coin flips for submissions that are on the back burner. With each January poly-flip order I usually get a Intercept Shield coin album. This order today was 500 flips and a Franklin album. I probably have a dozen or so ungraded Franklins here and figured it would be a fun album to fill. Was looking for a Modern Commemorative album but they weren't available in Intercept Shield yet. Dansco had them but I want my raw library albums to match up.
Hopefully I will have the funds this new year to submit many sets. I usually run across enough great sales that the submission funds are depleted.
Well have a great 2016 everyone and if you have a couple nice raw Frankies ----- Let Me Know!!
I will be glad to get 150+ dimes finally into NGC for submission next month. Almost 7 years of searching and saving.
    Happy Coin Collecting

    CANDY-TIME!!
    Friends,
This week I was talking to David Sachs about modern toned coins that are available. He is working on a very nice toned 20th Century type set. Even though he already has his Roosevelt dimes I told him I had some great candy dimes for a later submission. Of course by yesterday he was curious to see them. Not worrying on focus I took a dozen or so pics this morning and sent them to him.
I did a small collage treat for your viewing as well this weekend.
Have a great weekend and ENJOY!!

It's a task just keeping up
    Friends,
I added 50 new Lincolns to the set this week. Purchasing the complete set of Lincolns from vumc409 left me with plenty of extras. All pics were added and it seems I am missing other pics in other sets. I will take the time this weekend to get those pics caught up as well. I like to have pics for everything on the registry page but sometimes lack the time it takes to follow up.
    Enjoy the Lincoln slide show,
    Rick

I have been building them for 7 years or so.
    Friends,
Just a thought as I plunder through my recent purchases. I wondered if others had the same complications finding the greatest coins available out there. I know we all look in different areas trying to do our best at obtaining the greatest coin we can find for sale --- of course at a SWEET price.
I had no problems with the nickels and dimes as I may have been HOOKED up. On the other end I found it hard on Lincolns and dollars. Seems when they are collected and the collector gets tired of collecting they just disappear. Stored up for future inheritance.
    What do you think

Well how about almost a --- COMPLTE SET!!
    Friends,
I had finally got caught up on everything even in this heat we are getting this summer. I saw that vumc409 was selling his 1909 to date Lincoln proof set. Checked out the set and saw around 25 or so I would like to get for additions to my set.
When I asked him for prices on them he told me that he would not break up the set. Well after a day or two of really thinking hard on the set pieces I wanted and the 38 or so coins that will be doubles to trade and sell off I decided to jump in and grab the set. His set is still listed at rank #14 and will be removed in a week or so.
    Thanks Michael!!

Trying to get a few pics for Cody
    Friends,
I had a group of Ikes that sold a year or more ago. I held onto a couple as I thought they might be a little different. Although I don't remember the extent of knowledge at the time I had on those as varieties. May have been type 1 reverse and I didn't even know.
Well this is a type 2 rev with no islands cropped and you can't tell which it is. I was trying to get the double die pic but this seems more like a quad die than a double.
    Enjoy

Always looking for mint package trades!!
    Friends,
As I help many collectors locally add to their government issue mint and proof set collections I run out quickly. There are many locals here that do not collect 3rd party slabs but like to build collections in mint packaging.
I am always looking to trade my graded slabs for any mint packaged material available. If I have a few coins you like and you have some raw stuff in a box ---- Give me a shout!!
Here is one of my February additions.

Christmas is near and I would like to help others that are building these sets.
    Friends,
As I have sent a few large submissions in to build my state quarter set I have very many extras. I would like to give some away as gifts this year to help others with their set. No matter if you are building the state quarter set or just need 1 for a type set.
If you would like a few free NGC graded state quarters to add to your set just send me a message and I will wrap up a package and send it your way.
    Merry Christmas All!!

Not interested in buying another safe!!
    Friends,

Well I am getting the ball rolling again and will need room for around 400 new coins. I decided to send a box full to Heritage for Orlando Fun but first ran an add in Money Market @ 50% off listed FMV. The sales may be loss of invested but will generate the cash needed for all the new picks I have saved for submission to NGC.

    Another BLINDING task
    Friends,

I recently acquired around $2500 in mint rolls of coins from Jackson. Quite a few rolls and plenty of searching. The great point in this search is the dates were mostly 2005 to 2010.

With the Sacs, Presidents, Kennedy halves, and State Quarters completed I am down to Nickels and Lincolns. There will be some nice business strikes added to my sets this winter for sure!! With the coins I acquired over the past 2 years added to the new lot I should have most dates covered to complete 1999 to 2012.

Many coins are just beaming with luster, great strikes and no contact marks. Some of these rolls are a killer on the eyes and I need a break after searching a roll or two with deep mirrors facing the 80 watt incandescent bulb for 10 or 15 minutes strait.

It will be a hard choice as to which type of coins to submit first. I have saved many nice picks from mint sets 1965 to date and many rolls so the submission box has a large load of everything business strike as well as SMS 2005 to 2010 pieces.

Winter is close at hand and that means some really great coin shows!!

    ENJOY COLLECTING ---- Rick

Why??? I don't really know but that will be the next venture on my list!!
    Friends,

I have enjoyed so many new coins added to each set this year but with the new submission thoughts I have decided to run with the dollar pieces of the 21'st century. My Sac set is seeming to need the most interest in ranks so I am going to try for a few nice holders. I have also ordered a group of rolls for my State Quarter set that will get that set closer to completion.

Looks like a fun and interesting winter ahead for my sets!!

    Happy Coin Collecting!!

    You snooze ---- You loose!!
    Friends,

I have been adding some great TOP POP coins to my MODERN sets lately. I don't really make the income to afford these jewels but have been working overtime to get them paid for . It is GREAT to have such friends here that will accept the I.O.U's I needed lately to pull the purchases off and get them loaded.

My computer died this month which I guess -- 8 years is a good life span Working on my wife's laptop --- SUCKS!!! Work is looking like a time bomb fixing to explode!! I CAN'T KEEP UP!!!

I hope everyone is finding the coins they are looking for!!

Seems like now is the BEST TIME ----FOR A GREAT DEAL!!!

Free gift if you realize over $ on your submission
    Friends,

I had the funniest e-mail from Stack's today. Seems if you consign and sell over a certain point price wise --- they will give you a free coin!! HaHa

Now don't get me wrong --- FREE coins are GREAT --- BUT if I am selling ----

WHY??? in the world would I want a free coin for selling above their price tier??

Seems a break in costs would be more effective!!

    Trade SILVER for Copper
    Friends,

This weekend was a different switch as of the regular. Thursday I went to a local coin shop to trade Silver coins for Coppers. He had mentioned before that he was wanting to rid of all his copper stash.

As he had a nice group of Indians and large cent pieces I figured it would be a fun task. I ended up getting 2 books of wheats, 1 book 1909 to date, 70 rolls of memorials, 50 rolls of wheats, 70 large cents, 50 indians, and a few hundred wheats and memorials in 2X2's. I went through the wheats in the 2X2's and found around 30 DDO coins and a clipped 1930's coin. Don't know what I am going to do with the rolls and extra books yet but I don't need them. I already have almost a complete raw red set in my collection and I don't do RPM's on the Lincoln's. HINT!!

Here is a pick of one of the book pages.
