    I would like to match!!
    Friends,
    I have my new subscription and plan on knocking down this pile of modern era coins for NGC grading. I would like to hook up with a few that are doing the same. Surely the dates would be different --- being different mint sets and trades would be a great time!! If you are doing a 1970 to date submission this summer give me a shout and we will work a few trades out.

    My collecting motor has been down for a while now.
    Friends,
    Well I am soon to renew my NGC membership and start sending in more of those great coins I have been hoarding. It has been a rough winter cash wise but my work schedule is flowing once again. I did manage to do a few sales and trades with promissory notes while I was low on cash but have overcome the debts and now ready to start spending a little cash on new coin ventures. I hope to complete my sets 1965 to date and start back collecting in the silver years soon.
    It will be fun to send these coins in that I have saved over the past few years and start filling the raw hoard box up once again with new specialties. I have a few candy dimes to get graded as well as the coins I need for the modern sets. The pre 65 silver dimes should be a fun submission. Here is a pic of one.
    Enjoy,
    Rick

    Of the group that I have. I like the look of this one!!
    Friends,
    I don't have the full set of first spouse gold coins. Of the ones I do have I like the look of the Mint State coins more than the Proof coins. This Jefferson pic here with the wavy hair and the soft texture flow seems to look the best out of the group I have even though it is not the rarest.
    Enjoy---Rick

    Just what collectors were they intended for
    Friends,
    I have purchased and sold very many Modern Commemorative half dollars but never bought any mint wrapper sets. There are many sets built by us that are from already graded coins and I was surprised to get the mint package ones that came this weekend. For the collectors that build these sets I thought a pic of mint packaged sets would be interesting. Below is a pic of 4 Modern Commemorative half dollar coins in a mint wrapper that were intended to gain interest in our children and grandchildren. They just didn't realize that there is a kid in all of us as well. Looks like a McDonalds toy package. The measurements are 6"X6" or so with a story inside and the coin in the center. I just wanted to share these as I had never seen anything but slabs before. Trading for over 100 coins usually has something new involved that kinda sparks the fun up a bit!!
    ENJOY!! ---- Rick

    Where to get your values for bidding.
    Friends,
    Many dealers subscribe to grey sheet price lists for their monthly values on raw coins and sets. A great magazine that my wife got for me yesterday is great and will help to keep up with monthly values of most raw coins I purchase and sell. It is impossible to keep up with today's value using the red book which is actually outdated when it is released for publishing. March to April values on MS65 coins -- +.11, VF graded coins -- -.49. The Magazine I got has some great readings in it and is rather short in pages -- 70. The best and most important to me is the centerfold -- U.S. Coin Price Guide.
    The magazine -- COINage (April/2014 Near Perfect Counterfeits) can be purchased at most book stores and also on line -- www.CoinageMag.com
    Just another great way to keep track of our fun hobby!!

    I found more than I needed for sure!!
    Friends,
    I was interested in getting a few hard to find Modern Commemorative Silver Dollars. Well the box came open and the full load was surprisingly beautiful. Mint package after mint package full of sets that were Silver and Gold from the first set in 1983 to 2010. I grabbed a few Silver sets that I wanted just a little over melt and I can get some gold if someone is interested in grabbing a few. There was also a few Double Eagles graded MS61 in the box as well but I don't collect gold coins so they headed back to his house with him as he left. He left me his number in case I decided to get some more!! With today's melt values the prices were pretty good.

    I finally have a showcase in a store!!
    Friends,
    As I have been selling coins for quite some time I have had a hard time getting in the door to sell at coin shops. Finally a new store opened up locally and they needed someone familiar with coins so I jumped at the chance. Here is a pic of the showcase with a large selection of NGC slabs and other stuff. It was nice to be able to fill a case in the store and talk coins to customers that were interested.

    A sales piece on the run!!
    Friends,
    I have a beauty that I am sure there will be no other of this date and design run through here for a while. This is a 1907 $10 gold Indian. For the 1907 year there were many made and kept as well. The rarity to this one piece is - No Motto. There have only been 50 total graded by NGC and I was glad to have the chance to check this piece out while it was in route to a new ownership.
    Just thought I would share a pic with you.
    ENJOY --- Rick

    Found in a batch for sale!!
    Friends,
    Last week a member here sent me a very large group of raw morgans to sell for him. These are nice Morgans for a dansco or whitman album set. He has decided to go all in on high graded coins and decided to sell these.
    Anyway --- As I did pics and pricing I kept eyeing a very nice toner -- 1879-S that kept trying to get out from the complete collection.
    I decided to share a pic of the reverse of which matches the obverse.
    ENJOY!!

    A look at the changes I made.
    Friends,
    As the winter months come to an end and spring is around the corner I look at my collection to see the changes that were made the past few months. The sun will beam out next month and most of us will head outside to other hobbies that have waited for spring to finally show up. My winter this year was a great addition of proof set pieces 1999 to date and some really nice business strike additions as well. I did manage to add a few 1800s coins that will stay around quite a while for sure.
    It looks like I have 3 friends in the CS that have decided to sell everything that they have collected in their coin sets. So much time spent learning and acquiring the best coins they could find. It almost seems like a waste of time in overall sense of looking at it. Then I guess we all have had hobbies at one time or another that just did not pan out.
    I have a few coins selling next month (Silver Eagles) and then a few more additions to add as replacements (1966 Cameo SMS set). For most part that would probably be the slow down point of the overall 2013 winter season collecting for me. Of course you will hear a few shouts from me this year as I find something interesting enough to show off or send in a GREAT submission or two.
    To those of you that have decided to leave this great hobby I bid you fare well. To those that simply enjoy this great hobby ---- I will catch ya later!!

    Like alway ---- Searching again!!
    Friends,
    I spent part of the week searching 1971 mint sets --- 18 of them and also looking for a variety in 18 Proof Ikes I got in a trade. Well as I thought,43 years after the sale of these Ikes I would not find a variety. One thing I surely got that they could not find on the 1971 proofs 43 years ago is "The Ike Blues".
    Enjoy,
    Rick

    Anybody out there got a group of mint sets or proof sets they want to trade off
    Friends,
    I am getting a little bored as my usual routine in extra time involves searching coins. I checked everywhere here and seems I have searched all the rolls and mint sets I had. If anyone has a bag, box, or group of U S Mint rolls or mint sets sitting around I would be happy to do a swell trade for them. I am always calmed when I sit in front of a large group of beat up coins looking for a nice one. It sure makes the time fly by and I enjoy it so much!!
    I got the coin search jonesing going on and need a fix!!!

    I finally decided to use a different option to sell these sets.
    Friends,
    I sent in quite a few submissions last year. Of course there are great coins and then plenty of lower grades when you submit them. I added to my sets as I got my returns and then added to the sets here on this page as well. With 2013 over and still so many coins left on this page I decided to try a auction house and see where I end up in value percentage in sales. I was waiting for some coin sales last year to be able to send in a few more submissions but that never happened.
    I sure hope this pans out well as I will eventually send in better coins left on this page and that will get me the cash I need to send in some really nice business strikes I have saved up for submissions. I hope to have all my mint sets at 50% complete -- 1936 to date -- by the end of the year.
    On the other end of my collecting I need only 46 more coins to complete my proof sets 1999 to date complete. I hope to complete that group by the end of this year as well!!!
    HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

    Searching old rolls?
    Friends as we run through rolls and mint sets looking for the sweet taste of varieties sometimes I am overly surprised.
    I was on a variety check in the Lincoln variety club and a fellow collector said something about a DDO Kennedy he found. I jumped on the thread and offered my opinion also mentioning that I was searching for DDO's. A week later a dealer sent me a couple nice trip die obverse and a quad die obverse. --- So Cool!!!
    Here is a shoddy pic of the 1964-D Quadruple Die Obverse.

    Could it be a setup die tool?
    Friends,
    I was doing some pics of my Lincolns of which the proofs were too dark and the business strike were too bright. They will all need a redo but in the task I found something cool on the reverse of the 1974-D. It seems to be a plate or tool with the number 22 in the center of it. Left on the die and compressed into the reverse before making this Lincoln.

    Not the usual graded but back to our beginnings.
    Friends,
    I started a new collection this year that has really grown far more than I expected. I started trading coins in January for mint sets and proof sets and obtained very many proof sets in mint packaging. Today I made a purchase from Bill who is selling out and going on road adventures in his motor home. In the small pile he had there was a 2013 proof set and a 2011 Silver proof set to add that I needed. I have acquired very many doubles for those needing sets to complete sets and also have every proof set from 1954 to 2013 except the following;
    Prestige = 1983 & 1996
    Legacy = 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
    President = 2009 & 2012
    Silver Proof set = 2013
    Lincoln Chronicles = 2009
    I have all the Silver Premier with a couple doubles, Prestige doubles and many triple Proof sets available for trades if anyone else is collecting a nice run on the Proof sets themselves.

    Spent 2 weeks in sunny Florida and came home red as a lobster.
    Friends,
    My Lincoln submission did well and returned back home today. I got 2 MS65rd's of which I expected the 1970 but the other was a surprise. On the MS66rd's I received 14, MS67rd's = 12 and 3 MS68rd's. I added a load to my set with only a few extras for spares. Submission 2617555-001 to 031
    Here is the 2011 MS67rd--
    Thanks and enjoy

    My Franklin Failed considerably!!!
    Friends,
    As I sent in the 52 Proof set due to what I thought was a PF66 Franklin and a SUPERBIRD Washington I missed on both points. After the milky haze was removed from the Franklin by NCS the rough details showed and the Cameo obverse was gone. However I still got a PF63 which I believe is the lower of populations but still a value of $175 and a temporary hole filler.
    Other grades:
    1c = PF66rd
    5c = PF67
    10c = PF66
    25c = PF65
    I will be starting a custom set and listing all the coins in it that are non-attributed variety coins from NGC so I can keep track of them. They are starting to add up and I would hate to accidentally sell one as a regular coin.
    This was my very first Proof set ever sent in and I am glad that the grading fees were less than 50% of the overall value. I may do some more Proofs next year.
    HAPPY COIN COLLECTING!!!

    Tearing apart the Lincoln submission
    Friends,
    As I await the verdict of my 1952 proof set that was sent to NCS I have took some time to recheck the Lincolns for grade values. I have managed to delete 15 or so as to lower values than grading costs but still have a hefty 32 coins to submit.
    On the "COOL" side one Lincoln -- MS66rd or so is the 2000 business strike with a double date!! I have found in the past that these varieties may not be listed and as such just get the regular grade. Hopefully this one will grab a variety slab.
    Enjoy----Rick

    A Good Sign!!
    Well Friends,
    I decided to check my 1952 Proof set submission today. As NCS has it first and then will turn it over to NGC for encapsulation. There are no records showing that I had any submissions so that tells me that things are rolling along especially since I have had over 100 coins graded this year. I should get some imformation on this quest next week.
    Here's hoping for a STAR!!!

    A new name for my sets suggested by a friend in the chats.
    Hey Friends,
    As I have been on a roll lately in the Roosevelt dimes My buddy William tried to talk me into getting a web page started. He even went as far as grabbing the name to insure it was available. Well I told him I have never dealt outside the club and like the security of keeping it that way but really liked the name so I changed the set names on my pages. "Dime Factory" now has 50% complete and added many pics yesterday since I was rained out at work and had the time. The camera was quite cooperative yesterday and the pics came out pretty nice. Only had a couple out of focus on the 50 coins that I photographed. I am still missing a few pics but the slideshow is ready for viewing.
    Enjoy your weekend and as always---
