-I love the artistic designs.
-original beauty--color/toning & luster.
-I love the history that is associated with it.
-I am attracted to the scarcity and rarity (both conditional and absolute) aspect, which offers good investment potential.
-The TPGS have made it soooo much more mainstream and made it a more legitimate and easily traded asset class.
-The INTRINSIC value of the precious metals.
-My early influencers have affected me (my Dad & Uncle).
-The social aspect--Chat boards, coin shows, professional authors, dealers, friends & other likeminded folks.
-The hunt and the adrenaline rush from a find or an auction win.
-My OCD and fixation with order, which is demonstrated by my satisfaction with completing a set.

Congrats on an illustrious career.
Does anyone know who his successor will be?

Just saw this ATS. Really sad. He’s been a fixture here and over there, since before I was ever on here. I can remember him from day one. Wow 53…. That is far too soon, especially since he leaves a young son. Prayers to his family. RIP Broadie.

That is a great looking piece. Nice pictures, too. Did you take them?
Thanks. No, they are PCGS TrueView images. Nobody has attempted to guess the grade, yet, so I will reveal. It is an MS 62. I got it for $100 below PCGS retail. IMHO, GS CDN bid is REALLY low on this piece, so I didn’t pay much attention to that, when making my purchasing decision. I paid 40% over bid.

I like it and think it's cool.
I only wish that I understood the ratings and the titles better.
Not sure if it relates to post count or something else...

@Ali E. Forgive me if this has been suggested before, but wouldn’t it be so cool, if we had a virtual, Dansco-style, coin album for our registry sets, here at NGC, like they do ATS? Mine would look so much better, over here, because it would be complete. Thanks!

Pass. I’m not crazy about the surfaces as they look lackluster. The little amount of toning that is there is not that attractive, either.

The problem with a crack is everyone has to touch it and rub it that is why the tone is missing around it. Kinda like putting a wet paint sign up there will always be fingerprints on the paint.
I don't think that is the reason.
I believe that it was harshly cleaned or improperly dipped.

AU 55 sounds right.
Surfaces DO look fooled with albeit semi-attractive.
-
I wasn't aware of this but it does make sense.
-
I'd have said AU 58.
-
I see no rub.
These were softly struck.
Nice toning.
Looks at least MS 64

He was a really right dude all the way around.
Thoughts and prayers to those that he left behind.
He will be missed.

I don't know BUT....
I'm GUESSING that #1 was done with the phone.
Both are good.
Interesting...the color variation of the two different styles. Number 1 looks more YELLOW.
Number 2 is definitely sharper.

David and I exchanged quite a few PMs, over the years, and he was always so kind and generous with his time. Besides his vast degree of knowledge and passion for numismatics, what I remember most about David was he was ALWAYS willing to help and contribute. Every single picture I've ever seen of him, he always had a big smile on his face. That's just the type of guy that he was. This is heart-breaking.

I was confused as to how I could have 86 best awards in the years since I had the sets. I had not had the sets that long.
I went searching and saw that they have each set listed twice each year. One is just "Best in Category", and one is listed as "NGC Best in category".
Why are they listed twice?
Example: The set below show top set 26 times, but no way, since they were made in 2006.
‘Best in category’ award for a set is calculated based on highest point scores from coin entries of both PCGS AND NGC coins.
‘NGC best in category’ is based on the highest score calculated only from NGC graded coin entries.
So each set can, conceivably, win two different best in categories for each year.
It happened to me, once, too.

There are times when it's a bummer to upgrade a coin, because the old one that you are replacing . . . .
in US, World, and Ancient Coins

I RARELY upgrade but, when I do; I usually keep BOTH coins--original AND upgrade.
I have also purchased duplicates AND lower graded coin, if I think that they are NICE.
This could be for various reasons: I like the toning, the strike or the holder (OGH, Fatty, Pedigree, etc).
