ldhair got a reaction from bsshog40 in US mint too high for my blood!
I gave up several years ago when one of the Silver Eagles sold out in one day. May have been a few hours. I forgot. The mint did not care about all the collectors that bought every year starting in 1986 to build the set. It ticked me off enough to never buy anything again from the mint. I almost quit with the 1995-W but I went ahead and bought the gold set to have the Silver Eagle.
This round of price increases will kill of many collectors but I don't feel the mint really cares.

Well I finally shutdown all my silver subscriptions with the mint. They have just gotten to the point that the average collector can't afford to pay for these anymore. Looks like my SAE collection has ceased with 2020. I'm done with the mint.

I'm generally not a big fan of Mexico coins and usually don't buy them, but I recently came across a batch of about 100 truly superb condition coins, mainly from the 30s-40s. Grades just posted. Here are some of the highlights.

Well, this makes three now. I keep seeing these and they're just so cool! The crude charm of these hammered coins appeals to me.

This particular coin is from AH1272, (which is 1855 AD). It is raw, and about the size of a US dime. It was struck in Fes Hazrat (when the Sultan lived in the city, it was given the honorific "Hazrat"). These gold coins had a very low mintage, because gold was not a common metal in Morocco. These benduqi have an even lower survival rate, because they were often used as decoration or melted.

Both sides of the coin have the same simple design - the date and mint name surrounding a rose.

So, tell me what you think!

Post any crudely struck gold coins you might have, and tell us about them.

    The lettering is Indian.
However, this is not a coin - it looks like a temple token: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_temple_tokens
I have no idea what the date of yours is, but it seems yours bears a very common scene on these tokens.

I really think you're tedious. And Boring. And probably an alt for Quintus Arrius, given your similarly long-winded and pointless rambling posts.
Usually people who name themselves "Prof" are professors. I see I am clearly in error in overestimating your reputability and intelligence.
With all of your grandiosity, you appear to have forgotten how to read. If you'll check back, there have been very few posts of substance in this thread, but Moxie and I discussed the idea of post mint damage. I know, it got lost in all of your ramblings.
Yeah... I don't really have the time or desire to deal with you either. You'll probably continue to rant against me because you're a troll, but I'm going to put you on my ignore list and never have to suffer through your delirium again. I do hope everyone else here does the same.

And they would send it to Fred.
Nickel had another coin stuck to it with something like say wax.  The other coin was offset and not directly covering the coin leaving a crescent exposed, but a little of the "wax"extended past the overlying coin along the left edge.  Then the coins were exposed to a corrosive environment.  This etched the exposed nickel down to a lower level and since the corrosive acted evenly the original details were retained.  The "wax" protected the rest of the surface frome the corrosive.  Then the coins were separated and the "wax" removed and the coin continued to circulate.
