Popular Post gmarguli Posted September 30, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2020 I'm generally not a big fan of Mexico coins and usually don't buy them, but I recently came across a batch of about 100 truly superb condition coins, mainly from the 30s-40s. Grades just posted. Here are some of the highlights. 1928-M 10C MS67 Pop 3/0 1933-M 10c MS68 Pop 1/0 1937-M 50c MS67+ Pop 1/0 1944-M 50c MS67+ Pop 11/1 1932-M Open 9 Peso MS66+ Pop 2/3 1933-M Peso MS67 Pop 13/0 1935-M Peso MS67 Pop 2/0 1938-M Peso MS67 Pop 2/1 1943-M Peso MS67+ Pop 4/0 1944-M Peso MS68 Pop 4/0 1950-Mo Peso MS66 Pop 4/0 1957-Mo Peso MS67 (Prooflike) Pop 6/1 1962-Mo Peso MS67 Pop 3/0 1947-Mo 5 Pesos MS67+ Pop 1/1 1955-Mo 5 Pesos Hidalgo MS66 Pop 5/1 1957-Mo 5 Pesos Constitution MS67 Pop 3/1 1960-Mo 10 Pesos 150th Anniversary MS66 Pop 7/2 1977-Mo 100 Pesos Low 77 Variety MS67 Pop 7/1 Crawtomatic, ldhair, AcesKings and 2 others 5
Henri Charriere Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) Sorry to have to see your delusion disintegrate in so spectacular a fashion, but the initial purchase price + the cost of athentication/grading/certification + two-way postage and insurance + registration and whatever else was involved in your coin identification and spending spree makes you nlt a fan, but a no-holds-barred, super high-grade certified connossieur of your -- don't talk about it; be about it-- top tier, super high-grade Mexican coins. I personally like your now or never approach. Edited October 1, 2020 by Quintus Arrius Correct misspelling and wording
World Colonial Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Quite nice and it also supports my opinion that Mexico from this period and later are mostly very common.
Fenntucky Mike Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 I'd say those were a great buy, beautiful coins. Were you expecting the PL and/or expecting a few more to come back PL? A few look like they could have been close calls. .
gmarguli Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) I find the (non-Morgan) PL designation one of the most inconsistent for both PCGS & NGC. I've only received a few PL from PCGS and those were on coins that had very deep mirrors. However, I've seen several in the marketplace that I felt were just very flashy, but they awarded the PL designation. It's a cr*p-shoot. Edited September 30, 2020 by gmarguli Abuelo's Collection 1

Was the one you showed the only PL you got in this submission, or did you get others?
Abuelo's Collection Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 This is an impressive group. First half XX century (post revolution) Mexican coinage is common in high grade, but you have few keepers here. Really cool.

Ryan S. Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 As some of us diehard "US only" collectors get a little tired of the same old designs we start to flock to these foreigns. They are beautiful coins and all the top pop examples probably make it a more than worthwhile submission. Congrats!
