I'm not sure if green slime would be considered altered surfaces. The coin looks to have been polished which would make more sense to me. JMO

Many try, very few succeed. I recently sold a NGC MS 64 1922 Peace Silver Dollar for 99 usd + Tax and the new coin flipper that bought it just sold it at auction for 75.77.
I bought that coin for 14 dollars. The grading fee was double.
You have to be a certain way to make it. Traders will mostly fall flat on their nose.
I've got a nice 1881 S Morgan that's MS66 with a full Rainbow that I would sell you if you would like a GREAT coin.

but my "don't bother responding to this poster because of his attitude" list is growing longer by the day.
I know that I was a newbie once, and I certainly made my share of bonehead posts - and still do, I suppose - but it seems like we keep getting people on here who:
    (a) think that nearly every coin they run across has to be some some sort of special strike, experimental finish, error, or variety, or
    (b) think that they are right, and everyone else is wrong, and that they are more knowledgeable than people with many more years of experience than them, or
    (c) think that, since no one agrees with them, then everyone besides them either has a huge ego that prevents them from admitting that they are wrong or don't know, or is out to destroy their dreams, or
    (d) can not accept constructive criticism or correction without getting defensive, or
    (e) have gone off their meds, or are over self-medicating, or
    (f) lack basic social skills

If the coin fails to grade 60 or better, it will be because in hand, it displays rub/wear that isn’t apparent in the images. It won’t be because of the marks you mentioned. They are perfectly acceptable and usually seen on uncirculated examples.

    Welcome to the forum.
The pictures aren’t real sharp, but from what I can see, the coin should grade at least AU58 and possibly as high as MS63. So it might be worth getting graded.
Below is link to authorized NGC dealers (who could hopefully assess the coin and if warranted, submit it to NGC on your behalf). Enter your zip code in the “location” box and you can see which dealers are in your area.

Edited to add: Even as an ungraded AU coin, it should currently be worth $500+ wholesale.

Ask a reliable (!) coin dealer (or two or three) if it is genuine. Third party "grading" will likely not result in sufficient increase in sale value to justify the cost.

MAULEMALL reacted to RWB in Is there a Variety for this coin? and if not could anyone help identify why I think its different?
I'll have to disagree with Mr. Lange on this one, and feel it is starburst from metal fatigue in the die. A second identical coin would confirm or refute this opinion.
Lubricants were and are used on planchets to prevent sticking together, and  in the hoppers and feeding mechanism. The effect is called "wring" in production of precision gauge blocks, etc. However, this is an extremely thin irregular coating and cannot produce ripples or radiating marks. Dies are not lubricated - they get all that is necessary from the planchets.
