brg5658
I really like the 2012 Native American Dollar design. The fine details of the reverse are simply stunning! This is my registry set addition -- in my opinion the best of the Native American dollar reverse designs since the program started in 2009. brg5658
Thought some of you might want to see the side-by-side comparison of the details of a business strike coin with the laser-etched proof version. Quite a bit of the great detail is lost on the proof

brg5658
This is not a US coin, but it likely inspired the Walking Liberty Half design. It was designed by Louis-Oscar Roty (known typically as simply Oscar Roty) and is referred to as the "Sower". I have been reading the fantastic book by Roger Burdette (RWB here on the boards) titled "Renaissance of American Coinage: 1916-1921" and on page 36 this coin is mentioned. Incidentally, upon further reading on Mr. Roty, I found that I share the same birthdate (June 11) with him -- which made it all the more cool! I have wanted an example of this design for a few years, but I was patient because I knew they came with great color. This one finally fit the bill. I'm also adding a couple close-up images to show off some of the beautiful banded peripheral toning, and the name of the designer.
