Popular Post Lem E
I didn’t want to keep clogging up the US acquisition thread, so I started this one. Thanks to @AcesKings for your help. That website was awesome! I was trying to figure out the die marriage for this coin, and think I may have it. I would like any feedback if I am right or wrong, but DO NOT want the answer if I am wrong. I will continue to research. I believe this is O-126, R2 Obverse 19, Reverse U. I’m hoping someone can confirm or deny that this is correct. Thanks for any help. Edited May 27, 2021 by Lem E Wrong date in title. Member: Seasoned Veteran DWLange Posted May 27, 2021 Member: Seasoned Veteran Share Posted May 27, 2021 You may compare it against a certified example of O-126: https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plus/united-states/half-dollars/capped-bust-lettered-edge-half-dollars-1807-1836/817874/ Lem E

Just Bob
I like Dave's site, because it groups the die marriages by T-I relationship, which helps narrow down the search, and it also has a brief description of each die. NGC's Variety Plus helps, too, because they have multiple pictures with which to compare your coin. Lem E

His website is pretty user friendly and makes it possible for even a novice Bust Half guy like me to be able to sift through all of those attributions. I think I got lucky having the die chip marker in the bottom curl to look for. That was the first thing I looked for after the T-l relationship. The crack in 182, vertical lines intersecting with the horizontal crossbars in the shield and big C. There was one marker I never could find. Something about a dot in the shield? I never figured that one out. Variety Plus was my confirmation. Once again, I appreciate everyones help. Thanks.

You are on your way to a better hobby, if chasing Overton numbers doesn’t drive you crazy first. If you become a specialist, there is a national club for these pieces, the Bust Half Nut Club. I’m sure many others are a real beast to attribute. I did do a little perusing through the Bust Half Nut Club website. I could easily get into Bust Halves. Very interesting. Thanks. AcesKings
Quote Thanks to @AcesKings for your help. That website was awesome! You 're very welcome, always happy to help! Quote I believe this is O-126 Lem E
AcesKings
Quote There was one marker I never could find. Something about a dot in the shield? The early Bust Halves sometimes have centering dots that are visible and can help identify a marriage. This is an O-110 with centering dots on both sides, one in the middle of the neck, the other in the upper left side of the shield. Lem E
