  1. When i started asking him questions is when he motioned the cop over. So unfortunately i didnt but im chaulking it to you live and learn
  2. Thank you all and yea im starting my collection off besides inherited coins with the (50) pcgs state silver quarters and work my way up from there or until as goldfinger said my grading skills are alot better and im confident in buying un certified coins ( and only pcgs silver quarters because of the flag banners ) but then ngc, anacs, pcgs and places i know that are legit.
  3. Honestly if it wasnt for this site and reading alot of older posts and research of my own i woulda never known
  4. I looked he wasnt any where on there it was one of those if u pay for a booth its yours to sell at little town shows and even the guy from the pawn shop i trade and buy from said hes never seen the guy before but that he packed up and was gone 5 minutes after i was escorted out. I got him outta there atleast . Even the pawn shop guy said the same as you it wasnt i was making a scene it was you caught him red handed and he didnt want his rep to be tarnished but in my book his souls tarnished and should be banded and nutured like a hog.
  5. I agree. He saved me some money . I was just hunting silver quarters and got that barber dime and i got a seated liberty dime and called him out so not a bad hunt for the day. I think it rubs me the wrong way more that something like this will discourage or make a new coin collector quit collecting .
  6. I was at a small coin show/ gathering today and was looking around and bought a grab bag for 4.50 so i wasnt expecting much for the price opened it up and seen the slabbed 1902 barber dime with a bar code on the label and looked legit. Me being me i sat down was eating and looked the grading service up and unless my quick search was all fake this was a real coin fake graded slabbed coin. Even though it wouldnt be much anyways i wasnt having it when i walked back over to the booth asked if he had any more of these great pgs graded coins for cheap he had a box of what i would say was around 1000 of these in different coins. After I seen and finally told him he was a scam artist and i wanted my money back and he could well you can imagine the words and he argued with me pleeding it was top 3 grading service blah blah blah when i said ok i pulled the 500.00 i brought with me and said show me and ill buy 500.00 worth and thats when he motioned for the cop to come over and i got thrown out for causing a disturbance even though i wasnt yelling or causing a scene what can be done about this because that was alot of fake slabs and grades with the exact sticker and all a professional grading company of cards was using . I even asked the cop what could be done he just shrugged and said write it off. It just made me mad since im just getting into collecting and already ran into one of those guys. If your new to coins and collecting please just be on the look out for fake grading as well as fake coins. The cases looked messed up where i pryed the 4 sides to open and tell if the coins real or it was flawless
  7. Thank you all . Yea there in a big jar that will get taken to the bank i was just making sure i had a grasp on whats normal machine wear and whats an actual one . Im not in it to make money im in it to find cool coins and to spend time with my kids that has nothing to do with games tv etc, and be able to leave them with something they can learn with me and continue with there children and so on. My son makes fun of me because i actually like going through the pennys and filling the coin book where he wants morgan dollars and peace dollars and that one in a million coin and thank you for the links im guna definitely read them to learn more.
  8. Ok good i figured that with the first two the second two i thought that to but then kinda thought off center some . Thank you i jist wana be able to spot the nots as wells as the true mistakes
  9. Im just making sure im getting this right the first two are two 2015 p dimes i have. Would they be considered die wear or just a lite strike ? (My guess was die wear/deteriation) The second two are 1983 p dimes what would they be considered ? At first i thought just normal pocket change wear but two the exact same way and then i took the picture and seen the weird mint mark on the one so i started with die wear and now i dont know. I cropped the pics and marked the areas im talking about so there in the way i was guided to do from another post
  10. Im new and was on a bad forum and appreciated what you guys said and left the reddit forum but i never would have went to you tube and atleast new better then just googling to come and join this chatboard and also got my new (red bible) red book , but i also like doing my own research to just needed to be guided to the material . I again thank you guys for not bashing me and leading me to the right information (actually it was alot of the posters on this post) and not just tearing me down because i didnt really know any better . I did some research on errors and actually found a few that i had and didnt even know i had because of it . If theres any other good forums or message boards you fine people know of i would love to know because im always up for a good read to better my understanding of collecting
  11. It was on reddit and they said weak strike and and rough finish i was describing it when i posted it here
  12. Thank you and no doubt this was on a coin forum i never messed with error coins and unless there ngc or pcgs certified i dont get them unless there silver then they get silver tested and thrown in a crown royal bag for the just incase fund or i have to buy a lot just to get that one coin that way i know there real and graded and theres no doubts
  13. Thank you for that info and was asking to educate and was calling it an error from what some one said on another forum and it was from a roll of wheats pennies i had gotten with my seated liberty dimes and walking liberty halfs i got from a coin shop and knew the basics mint grade all that and know normal coin wear just didnt know they could wear from the lowest point first and wanted a second opinion of why the other people were calling it an error but thank you for the info and for the reading material
  14. Im new to coins and just asking for another opinion people were saying light strike and rough finish and i didnt understand how the side edges the rim are just as high as the face but it wore lower inside the coin to the higher point not from high to low is all on just the face side not the back
  15. Is this a real error or just wear you can see the 19 on the date and the finish is smooth
