  1. I only have an NGC registry. I pretty much have only looked at NGC coins when it comes to adding to them. I have a few PCGS and was grand-fathered in when NGC decided to omit PCGS coins a while back, so it never affected me. I guess it's a brand loyalty for me. I can find very nice coins, and have, in NGC slabs and also get them a little cheaper without having to follow the kool-aid mentality. Those that think PCGS is superior to NGC are missing out on some very nice coins. And I'm not knocking PCGS as the few I have are very nice coins also. It would be nice if we were able to add our registries to our sig lines like before the software update. If I go to my account, I can see the registries in my sig line but they have never showed after my posts since the update.
  2. I think if we could all just contribute the knowledge we have, this forum would be much better. We all have the same hobby with different interests and opinions. If we could share those without passing judgment all the time, we may all learn something. Jmo
  3. Thanks Conder!. I don't like the Rev. I would like to see the Eagle come back!
  4. Yea I know. I just mentioned the mint cause they'll be making them. I would think that with the new year being close that some sort of bill has already been passed but not brought to public yet. I don't care what they start next year, not enough for me to spend all my time collecting a bunch of worthless quarters that will only remain a 25c value.
  5. Yea, I lost interest after the statehood quarters myself. I have about 4 albums of them and all of them are basically only worth a quarter. I would like to see it just go back to a nice design and stay there. But, the mint will find something else that no one cares about to spend a few more years on.
  6. I do have to agree that there may be far too many designations out there already, but I can't go as far to say that we don't need them. In todays market, designations on a coin today could mean a considerable value difference. It's not much different than the discussion of the "Star" and "Plus" designations. As I already stated, probably too many of them but I don't collect all coin series. I would imagine that someone who collect Roosevelts like the FB or FT designation but don't collect Jefferson's could probably care less about the FS designation and vice versa.
  7. Just a little history info. We have had some pretty bad trolls come thru this forum in the last 14 yrs that I have been here. Everyone basically knew who they were after a few distorted threads. I just ignored one myself and I don't care who knows it. You think it deters new comers? I don't think so. Getting these trolls out of the threads is much better for newbies so they aren't distracted by their ignorance. A new person comes here, asks a question, and then bombarded with worthless comments and insults to other members that are trying to help. It doesn't help new people coming here to have their thread derailed by trolls. NGC is waaaaay more lenient than ATS. This why the ignore button is used more than the report button. Sometimes you just get tired of seeing their posts or waiting for NGC to get tired of them and ban them.
  8. The forum should be for people to gain knowledge and give knowledge. People that are actually looking for help, go thru the trouble of signing up and creating password, in the hopes of getting an answer to a question that they would like answered. They don't come here just to have someone derail their thread with a bunch of nonsense. That's why people leave here. I would rather have a Sleepy Hollow forum where I can gain knowledge or give it if I'm able. ATS may be a lot busier but there are many threads over there that don't really offer any knowledge , nor ask for any. They are threads that most just pass by or are usually only replied by those looking for entertainment.
  9. At least these guys know what they are talking about. Looks like you have a fake coin my friend!
  10. Hopefully someone with more expertise will chime in. I'm not good enough to give you a correct answer.
  11. Can you show a pic of the Obverse. Are you sure it has a date of 1856? The lettering looks off to me but need to see the front. There are other members that are better than me on knowing if its a fake.
  12. It was close Mark. The Rev looks more UC and it looks like the Obverse stopped a little short.
  13. This is the one and only Star that I have.
  14. I think the "Star" is great for eye appeal but I think that if I had the choice I would go for the "Plus" as it represents a coin that is just a little better than the grade assigned. Or they could keep the Star and go for 1/2 grades. Lol
  15. Well I just fixed the problem with that Quintus guy. I don't need to see his again! He's not the first one I've had to ignore recently. NGC is really going into the tank when they allow people like this on the forum just to be able to run their mouths about nothing. When you see them post on a thread, I just have the tendency to move on because I know how the thread is going to turn from the actual topic!! There's not many threads going on but it seems they have to interfere in to every one of them and just deteriorate the topic.
  16. You're to the point of me ignoring you. You have nothing worthwhile to say. You could cut down 90% of the wording in your posts and still come up with a proper response. I am tired of your rederick!!
  17. I think all the extra posts are a couple individuals trying to intellectually battle each other. I'm beginning to see more BS than knowledge! When these threads derail like this, it's just time to leave it where it sets and move on!
  18. I hear ya Larry! I've seen many people in my life that are soo intelligent but have no common sense at all. I have no prejudice with intelligent individuals, but most just show their ignorance thru conversation.
  19. I'm not too sure what we're suppose to be looking at. The streaks? The ridges?
  20. That entire coin shot is a sure giveaway. LMAO Might they be roller marks?
  21. Yea I use to be a jabber jaw back in the day. Lol I haven't bought much in the line of coins in a while. Just been sticking to my proof sets, Jeffersons and Danscos lately. Mediocre stuff! Lol
  22. Know one in my family ever collected coins. I think I got started when I use to save wheaties in change back in the 80's. Eventually that small collection was stolen. Started back up again around 2000.
  23. Thats where you are somewhat wrong. When a thread starts to get out of hand ATS, it gets closed. There are too many people who don't have a clue about what they are asking, so they ask and then ridicule the person answering because they don't think he knows anything. There will always be those people, but it seems some of those threads should be shut down before there is too much verbal abuse. And politics is a whole different story. There is no influence with politics in todays world. Politics have turned to corruption and violence. Politics is in sports now and see what that has done! People engage in their hobbies to get away from that . It would be a disaster to interfere in the only escapes that some people have.
