What is starting to deter me away from here most times, is as I appreciate NGC's less strict rules, I think that letting newbies insult respectable members here when they are only giving opinions is nonsense. They come here to ask opinions/questions from the members and when they don't like the answers, they start insulting members. This is when a warning needs to be given and their thread shut down. I have pretty much avoided the "Newbie" part of this forum as that is a lot of what goes on there. Then when it starts trailing into the us coin section, we have to put up with the BS there. I'm done with it myself. I know older members from here, and I'm talking from 10 yrs or more, that have deserted this forum for these same reasons. If this stuff doesn't come under control soon, all that will be left here are whiners crying because no one likes their toys!!

This thread is exactly why I avoid this section of the forum!!

I really never run across any younger people that collect anything. My kids are in their 30's and their friends, that I know, don't collect things. They are all more interested in todays tech devices. Of course I collect coins, but I also collect vintage watches. Younger people, that I know, don't like going to junk shops, thrift stores, flea markets, etc..... Then you hear about people getting inherited something and the first thing they inquire about is how much can they sell it for. There are, of course, those few out there that like collecting but I think in another 30 yrs the antique era is gonna look a lot different.

Did you notice I had to edit my post. I think you were referring to World Coins and I was referring to US Coins. Still a great book. Lol

I have the 2011 Modern US Coins Version , signed by Scott Schechter himself. If it is similar, It should have a lot of very interesting info in it. I thought this version was a very cool book. I'll have to dig it out again look over some of the coins that I wasn't interested in at the time. This version covered coins from US Coins from 1964-2010.

We use to have some pretty good activity years ago. It was still called sleepy hollow but we had some very good members and lots of topics discussed. We lost some good ones to the good Lord and others I guess have moved on. We still have some very knowledgeable members here but I never see enough topics that give most any reason to reply to. And then we get the occasional people that get on here, want a value of their coin or someone to validate something and then they disappear or they cause soo much conflict that it just chases others away. The new format is somewhat condensed from what it use to be, and it just makes the forum a little less friendly in my opinion. Just because a certain subject is not everyone's cup of tea, there are those that look for specific topics that is more towards their collecting interests. Basically there is only one category "US, World, and Ancient Coins" that is suppose to suffice to everyone's preference. If there is only one category to visit, then activity will always be at a minimum. I like it that NGC is not as strict as ATS also, but I do wish they would close some topics that eventually just aggravate people and they go elsewhere for a break. You mentioned "Likes". There is an issue with Likes not showing who did the Like and was brought up a few times to NGC after the new software came alive and the issue was never fixed. I know I had sent them a reply more than once to please look in to the issue but nothing was fixed. Signatures no longer show up under members who post. We use to have links to our registry pages and post them in our sig line. Nothing anymore! I have yet to see a sig line on any member anymore. Like I stated, there was more here til most of it got taken away. You're only as busy as your forum is. JMO

I think that you mistake who the actual troll is here. Here's a definition of what you have started! to act as a troll (see TROLL entry 3 sense 2) on (a forum, site, etc.)… is also notorious, for trolling message boards on the Internet
