  1. It is out of focus , that is to hard to tell if it is a flat top. It looks round
  2. The first MS70 I picked up. It was a easy choice it at $50
  3. I think most of us agree that NGCX is not our cup of T. This is one subject where I do not agree with my T shirt.
  4. Yes after a year I would think things have changed ,,,,,,,,,,,, Unless Arthur Finch has found that time is irrelevant. I find I have a lot less time than I used to have.......
  5. Didn't the British silver plate anything that was not moving to fast.
  6. Here ya go. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia177061.html
  7. You found my cent, Where was it ? I put my initials on everything. ( LoL )
  8. Thanks guys. I like the honesty JT2 it is not being harsh. And yes Lem the collar was a surprise. I will say the camera on my phone picks up stuff you don't see in hand. Once I posted the picture's I was like where did those marks come from ? Before the photo it was a 67 +
  9. Thanks for your opinion, Not many collectors like to guess grades on nickels and dimes. I agree that nickels are hard to grade. Almost every year has a oddity you have to be aware of in this series. In the early sixty's the hair was always a problem with strike. I think they would let that go as is. I agree the bag marks on the reverse are going to hold it at a 66. Most of the TPG do not give out 67-70 on regular strike coins unless it is flawless. That is why the price jump is so dramatic in those last four grades. Thanks again for looking. powermad.
  10. I see from your past post's Mckenzie this is not your first coin. I would reconsider this coin, it is not like a gold or silver coin and it is only worth what someone will give you. I like errors but I don't pay good money for them when you can find many high quality coins for less money.
  11. So I am sitting around going through some coins in my tin box. I remember this roll I got off a old dealer and decided to take a peek. The 60's did not have great strikes or many FS coins. But this tube has some good looking 60 D's all look MS 65,66 and of course a 1960 D MS 67 is a rare one. I have a maybe and wanted some others opinions on this one from the tube. I know it has a couple bag marks but boy does it look better than a lot of my MS 66 coins
  12. I agree with Coinbuf. I use the NGC Collector's Society inventory system and it is free and easy to use . It already knows and has listed all the coins in my sets .
  13. Today I had a coin approved for my registry set when I loaded into the site I noticed the value of the coin was $1925.00 higher than I expected after some investigating I found they had it listed as a DDR FS- 801 .I have informed NGC that it s just a nice coin with no DDR
  14. Very nice holders, I guess scratches on coins were never a consideration in those days.
  15. Finding a circulation strike nickel from the sixty's with full steps is a rare coin. There are not many out there and the ones that are can be very pricey.
  16. Did I hear that NGC changed hands and this past year they lost some quality members of the staff also ? That could throw a monkey wrench into the works .
  17. I thought the NGCX coins were a bit high priced for my pocket... But I am a cheap S,O,G anyway.
  18. I agree you have a better chance of a FB from ATS from the coins I have looked at in the past. I know on my FS nickels they let a lot slide down the stairs where NGC will not . And yes Henri depending on the coin many dealers will pick one grading company over the other for a better chance in grade.
  19. The 1992 looks kinda like a CAM with some blistering but with the others . You are correct there is something wrong with all of the coins you posted the only thing is the mint is allowed to make mistakes that are not considered to be errors. I also roll hunt and find stuff like this all the time but I don't think anyone will consider most of the defects out there at all. I still keep looking, if you like searching like I do welcome to the club. It is always fun and you never know what you will find. Are these coins also part of your Dad's collection ?
  20. Well I have been looking for this one in my price range for a while. The prices on Jefferson's just keep pushing up in the last two years but I got this nice 66 within my 33% limit.
  21. In the days before the Weather Channel people did raise flags, now only the harbors and cove's raise flags. Oh and the Coast guard stations always every day.
  22. I have been around for a long time and I have yet to send in a coin to be graded. If you shop around you can find nice coins raw or all ready graded for reasonable prices. In my opinion, the coin would have to be worth two or three times as much as the grading fee to make it work for me.
