  1. We had a good time and I think we got a good enough deal at $35 a coin. I had a option of 3 cases and decided on this one it was more money but it made the coin more presentable and held the coin tighter than the other type cases.
  2. She did like the gold I think that will be next on the list. I am in luck she had a good time looking at the coins. a $1299.00 gold Indian head did catch her eye
  3. Well today the wife and I went coin shopping at a real nice coin shop in Nashville and we got some big coins. My wife said what are the shiny coins over there? So we decided to get two of them ,the first year and the last year
  4. I can see the whole date it runs off on a little angle all the numbers are in-between the good ones. To bad the coin is toast.
  5. Welcome Marilyn Golden I am also new here. Enjoy your time here it is very informative and everyone is pleasant to talk with.
  6. I told you all I would let you know what I found in the 2 rolls of wheat pennies I got from the bank and if there were any keepers... Quintus Arrius said.. They're all keepers in my book. And the fact you got them now, some 60 years after they were made is nothing less than extraordinary. So here is some that are worth at least $1. The 1956 BIE may be worth $5 the last 4 pictures are a 1946 penny on a copper dime size stock planchet it weighs 2.04 g not sure if it is worth much . It was punched without much of a rim on it so it has been worn down a lot through the years. But still very cool to find it
  7. Well well well, this is another example of why I love to roll hunt. This must have been a collection and someone just started rolling stuff up. Remember I said I had not seen and 2009 in a while well in one of the bank rolls I got yesterday with 2 rolls of all wheat's there was this roll of primo pennies. 2008 the last year of the Lincoln memorial a bunch of all 4 of the 2009 Lincoln Formative Years pennies and a bunch of 2010 first year of the shield cents, Also there were no other years but these 3 and most in MS condition
  8. This is what I love about roll hunting where I live, Look at color of the coins in this roll I got from the bank yesterday. Every one is a Wheatie this is the stuff that makes it fun. I will let you know if I find any keepers in my Cherry pickers Post
  9. Yes the Red Book it is not something I would purchase every year. Now days the internet makes it so easy to look up coins but seeing it has been a while I think it is time for a new book. Some of the prices may have changed by now.
  10. Well I ordered my new Red Book today. It will be here some time before the end of the week or the end of May
  11. I still look every day... Ya never know...LoL
  12. Found another 2009 today but I will have to wait 40 years for it to be all the same color.{ Not to likely at my age}
  13. I do have a question for those here familiar with the flat packs. This 1957 proof set has more of a modern shinny coat of silver unlike my 1963 proof set which is more of a flatter silver coat finish? Perhaps they were getting ready in 1963 to stop doing proof sets and just got lazy. Anyone have any thoughts on that???
  14. Ya Rummy13 I have always saved odd coins but this year I started buying proof and mint sets they are a cheap way for me to get into collecting. Maybe down the road I will find a deal on some of the bigger coins but for now I am having fun.
  15. Well my wife got me another present this morning that she put with my Birthday card now you guys can guess how old I am.
  16. Thanks for checking so there is no metal missing unless it is all copper we would think it is a copper/zinc coin 1982 had both types .I have heard that corrosion can also build up under the surface of the coin and change it's looks also. So we add more possibility's to the list LoL
  17. Ya thanks Mike. I know these sets are not big money returns, but I like them and we are paying less than there market price. Well Market price today!!! next week who knows LoL
  18. My wife got me a present today another silver set 1994. This is the sister to the other set I got at the same antique store. They have been in the same display case for years side by side . This one is not quite as nice as the 1996 set I bought it has a few more nicks and scratches but at least the family is back together again and on display in my place.. LoL
  19. You can also buy high end coins or special sets that have 90% silver coins in them.
  20. You can always google a coin question and sometimes get a good answer. I also have a tread in this same section as this thread called Cherry Pickers Post ,I look for errors on coins and members here are kind enough to give there honest comments on what they think it is . Some of the comments are a blast. It is great fun and very informative. You may see something that helps you out.
  21. I can say that the members of this forum are very informed and always try to give you there honest opinion. And yes damaged coins do get past the gatekeeper after a long week on a Friday afternoon after a liquid lunch or we would never have error coins to collect .I see many coins with odd looking surfaces. Like this wooden Penny. People do all kinds of stuff to coins your 82 coin looks like it was glass bead or sand blasted. Can I ask how much does it weight ??
  22. Look at this crack I just found on 13 Pennies I call it ... Up your nose Abe.
  23. If you look at my Cherry Pickers post you can see some types of coin variations. I am always looking for something ...
  24. Not worth $65 to find out it is worth 25c Yes it would be nice to know ? I have checked around it has been seen before but know one is quite sure about it.
