  1. This is great everyone is so cool here and to have others with experience checking out these errors I find. I hope you are enjoying this stuff as much as I am. It is not so much the coins are worth anything but the fact that there is something wrong there. LoL ..Through a regular hand held microscope these coins look wonderful. The microscope I use when zooming in real close will find the best looking of coins to have marks that look like the surface of the moon. I like it that way I can see for sure if a coin has FS or FT as for these coins the (nose scratch) was found on 7 different coins not always in the exact same spot and from 2 different years so the mystery is 2 deferent years of multiple die breaks?? or a machine the dispenses the coins and scratches them in the same spot for years on end. ???? So the first coin here is from 1997 and the second is from 1994 the only thing that makes me think it is a die crack is it leaves behind extra metal. I am no expert for sure but it seams logical that a crack in the die would allow the metal to flow up into it then leaving the extra behind after the strike. Look how the metal is on top of the E on the 97 but you can really see it on the outside edge of the 94 . Let me know what you think please. JP
  2. Yes thanks , I am going to do both the state and park books
  3. LoL good point ... The Littleton green books or the Warman's blue books
  4. I am new here also Nannerz and I can say the members here are the best you will find anywhere. The help is 10 fold they give. Yes there is joking and puns but it is not meant to be disrespectful it is a light hearted learning experience. I think down the road a bit you will look back and enjoy your time here.
  5. Hi Everyone, I have been saving the State and Park quarters for a while now. I was thinking of putting them in books to give to the grandkids I have 14 of them so far LoL..but they can share so I will be making 5 sets. There are about 3 good brands out there to chose . They show you the outside cover but not the inside. I just wanted to get a idea what you all might suggest to be the best looking and easiest to work with please. The Littleton green books or the Warman's blue books I was looking at. Thanks for your help . Jim
  6. I am doing some Nickel rolls today and I have some odd finds?? I wanted to ask you all about. What are these scratches from a counting machine or die cracks?? The coins are 4 from 1994 and 3 from 1997 I used to save those 2 years looking for the matt finish Nickels. Any thoughts . Jeep
  7. Thanks for the info guys, Look here another bank roll with 9 Heads in it must be someone cleaning house. I can see some dates on these better. No big winners but it is still cool to find them in rolls in 2021
  8. Yes that is cool. I watched a video on it and it looks like it remove a thin layer of dirt and metal, So I would think NGC would consider it a coin that has been cleaned if you were to send in a nickel to be graded after using it.
  9. We could buy Penny candy up until around 1969 then it went up to 2 cents a Pc
  10. Thank you all for you comments . I can truly say I am grateful for the knowledge I am getting in the forums..
  11. The older sets are real hard to come by around where I live I have also been hunting. I have to say the members here are all very helpful and knowledgeable. You could not ask for a nicer group of people.
  12. that's cool . Does it effect the value of the coin most of the ones I save are real worn out anyway but it may be fun to see how old they are
  13. I think someone in my area is cleaning house .I got some old style wraps from the bank where I get my coins and they have been producing quite a few nice finds. 5 in one roll only one readable date on these but I still keep them.

  16. I found some new variations on the 2020 penny while roll hunting yesterday. 2 die cracks and a offset punch that makes the letters taller..... I call one a Crack Head.... A crack A ...,The other A tall A.
  17. Thank you Quintus Arrius. The USB microscope is so much easer then a handheld magnifier and the lighting and angel is very important for a good photo. I am having a great time being here on the site and I will continue to post my finds for all to comment on. Being new to this I may not be versed in all of the terms for coin variations but there are many members who are commenting and helping me along and I thank them all.
  18. Someday when I get some good coins to send in I may include it in the box.
  19. Here is a fun one I got in my change one day at the store. To bad it has no date showing it might be worth something.
  20. LoL she did not teach me. She makes jewelry and just felt bad for me so she gave me her Microscope. But I thank you for the nice complement on my shots.
  21. Thanks for your comment and knowledge Coinbuf. I am amazed at the stuff I have been finding . I went to the bank today and got some rolls looking for PL+FT Dimes . I start looking through a roll and putting scratched and damage stuff to one side. All of a sudden I relies the scratches and dents are in the same spots on a lot of the coins. I found 3 different variations 6 coins each of the same errors. Very Cool.....
