  1. It's a Rainy 3 day Memorial Day Weekend here on Cape Cod. You do not want to go out there in a car and try to drive anywhere. Just looking for a little sun or maybe a rainbow .So I am crashing and going through a jar of 1970 and 1960 Pennies. and I found a rainbow LoL It's not worth anything but it's pretty. I think the jar the pennies are in is worth more than all the pennies put together look at the expiration date.
  2. Thats ok, I still call stuff what it looks like. We get a lot of coin pictures here that are damaged after they come out of the US Mint it is called PMD and most of the time it is a coin that has been changed in some way by man or machine. So yours is a blank dime planchet with only that small part of the dime showing on it, is that correct.
  3. Welcome Gofia the best thing is to wait until you have a better Idea on what is what before sending anything in for grading . The members here know way more than most people when it comes to coins . Be patient and Listen to what people say they are only trying to help you go down the right path.
  4. You are getting some real nice shots now Dollarfan. The straight on shot shows the texture and scratches of the metal show up more with a good setup like yours but a close shot with a little light and a small angle will make a coin look good. but it is harder in a slab also. Like VKirtB said, White is the best background
  5. I could be wrong but 1963 the mint made proof sets with no stripe, mint sets were blue and red stripes
  6. Did It come in a envelope with writing like this.
  7. Welcome James, Are we looking at a dent on a dime or for something else??
  8. I found this hiding in a old roll of pennies . It looks like the copper has infected the dime and toned it out. I wonder how long that was in the roll. Cant be more than 4 years from the date of the dime.
  9. The photos are much nicer color than before. And yes the camera magnifies everything I cry a lot when I bring a coin home after looking at it for a hour thinking I got every possible view. and then bam USB Microscope heart attack.
  10. The toning nice but there is a big gash in the side of his head behind the ear? That may take away some of the pristine of the coin. Maybe it is a scratch in the coin holder
  11. Thanks Guys, I just needed that little push to get me heading in the right direction. I do like the $50 walking lady also but if I can get 3 smaller older ladies close to spot for the price of one than it is a no brainer in my book. But I guess it depends on the coin also. So there is no real rule of thumb just have fun to hunt for the best all around look and price. Oh my it is just a big circle round and round we go.
  12. Ya thanks Woods ..I do like the older stuff it could turn out to be a fun project going GOLD PROSPECTING on the Internet and Coin shops . LoL I had a brain cramp melt price is market price.
  13. Now that our ASE BS set is almost done. The wife says we should get some 1 oz. Gold Pieces. She does like that walking liberty lady It would be cool to hold a nice gold coin. But gold is so soft I would think to be safer to get a graded slab piece ??, I have never purchased any gold and any advise on this matter or type of coin that would be a better investment than bullion would be a big help. I know everyone says get what you like but all gold is likeable ..LOL
  14. It looks like it is in a flat pack that is why I said market price. 1963 proof set is$36
  15. It is still a great looking Ben and you only paid 1/2 of what it is worth on the market ,So I would say you are still a .
  16. I can see part of the shield under the neck and wing feather tips both front and back of head. Nice coin
  17. Now Both the Wife and I have ASE DCAM's hers is not in a graded slab but just as nice if not nicer and hers is monogramed with a W for Wife. Mine has the S you can only guess what that is for.
  18. The shots look real nice and clear Dollarfan You may have to use a different light. try it with your cell phone light on the coin and see if that helps. I also find a florescent light for a background light helps the white come out more. Some LED are whiter than others. it will be a lot of testing but once you get it you will have some real cool photos. I love your collection by the way, real classy coins
  19. SHORTAGE ....The Girl at my bank said there is a coin shortage and I can only exchange your coin rolls you hunt JP. I can swap but I cant sell you any change.. WTH The only shortage is with the Pandemic people did not want to exchange currency for fear of getting the virus so plastic was the choice of most.
  20. It is hard to say? I have been finding with my Microscope camera on some coins that have scratches in the field and letters the reflection of the LED lights make it look like there is crazy doubling. I have to look at all different angles to see if it is real or not.
  21. I missed the Morgan and Peace deal but this is better. Ok Now I am happy, they wanted $120.00 I got the deal I wanted on this PR 70 DCAM for $80.00 it is worth a bit more than that.
  22. I am suppose to get one this Saturday I hope. I will post it if it happens.
  23. No I wont buy anything in those slabs, Way to chancy I could not get a new Morgan so I have my eye on one of these, Proof 70 DCAM for $80 I think it is a good deal.
