  1. I beg to differ, there are hobbies and hobbies, people have different intensity, its nice to have information to cover those intensity levels but don't expect everyone to be die hard in whatever they collect, I don't read books on funko pops but I collect them, same with metal detecting, silver coins in general, im allowed to be a collector and just advance my knowledge organically rather then drag my rear to every library or drop thousands of dollars on reading material before buying my first Indian head.
  2. My local dealer has a penny that is graded an ms66 rd but over time even though it's sealed in a grading slab the color has changed, so much it would not achieve an rd grade were it cracked out and resubmitted, what would the reason for that be, its supposed to be sealed so how come oxidation is happening?
  3. They have to be close friends to go through that hell of buying, I am almost an old hand at it now and only been at it for the v75, queens beast completer and two rounds of the 2021 m & p sets.
  4. I wonder what this investigation across the mints actions will have on future releases and the dealers early buy programs which pays them to advertise like there's going to be a fight to get the coins and by taking 10% off the table upfront and getting bulk discounts and a head start on grading gives them a second head start on ms70 sales...I hope they don't find the metals purchases come from conflict areas, that would pardon the pun 'tarnish' the last couple of years of coins.
  5. But we had the same with old silver if we got carbon spots...its the risk we take sadly.
  6. Maybe they didn't want them to become the start of a fake rush where changing the date might fool some beginners to think they have an ms68 1921 peace dollar, etc.
  7. I'd have preferred to have one of every one of the six without this dog eat dog mentality but the money I get for the excess will go to my other collections, im not some flipper fanatic, its a shame we have to do it like this right now but morgans and peace dollars are in the stratosphere right now so the commemorative are too.
  8. Not 150,000 of the one coin, 150,000 of all the coins...across 6 of them.
  9. Good my peace collection will get a nice boost..lol.
  10. You coukd go resto but it might take a while, I lightened my lack pearl earring but it didn't dissolve so don't expect miracles and I think mine cost about $150 for the wash and blow dry.
  11. Presently I've got one coin getting graded has been in since June with no resto needed so when there's an influx of possibly 150,000 coins plus its going to slow down a lot.
  12. Yeah, its a bunch, jm going to get an ms70 of each mint and peace just cos but will be selling my ms70s if I get them to cover them.
  13. On ebay some appeared with ngc ms70 grades for pre-sale, someone is hopeful but they were selling for $600 in ms70...i got 3 D and 3 S and intend on grading all of them but then swapping out for the CC and O to get the full set in ms70 and peace dollar in ms 70 to go wjthmy date set peace dollars in 65.
  14. No, im still looking, I've been held up by ebay managed payments fiasco so not able to list things I sell in order to buy...have a full setof the 3oz bluemarbles and cased set ofqueens beasts etc to list but can't cos the buyers can't buy till this mp is sorted out.
  15. Thanks...I can get one for $1300 but I'd prefer a one without facial dings.
  16. Is there any out there, I see ebay but you get the choice of maybe 4 and then its Denver or San Francisco mint which puts them off my Philly only date set so any of you fellow collectors got any sweet flappers for sale?.
  17. I've sent another coin in to grade, I think it was the resto that took forever...id think hard before sending in another or certainly not have a time constraint on it.
  18. Same here, I on,y need one peace dollar and I'm good, I don't collect morgans so no worries.
  19. Collecting peacevdollars my old won't let me not get one and get it graded but I'd have preferred today's technology using yesterday's metals, a new 90% full sized 2021 set to have a glimpse of what people saw when they first arrived.
  20. Thats exactly what ive done, shorten the size of the stack, converted some stacks into slabbed peace dollars, some numis have gone up with a limited downside unlike silver etc....easier to go to the sdb with an ngc box then a 1000oz of silver....lol.
  21. I flog all mine on fleabay because I can sell eagles at $40 each all day long...id have thought a coin shop would give you more then the dealers, my lcs would buy 3, 4, 5 monster boxes a day, id say unless time was of the essence then fleabay it all and buy some padded envelopes or flat price boxes from usps then print the shipping slip and tape it to the envelope, you can buy 100 envelopes from fleabay for $20 and shipping for most coins of up to 5 coins or avten ounce bar would be under $5....I've done this for hundreds of eagles and other types.
  22. Its lighter on the outside edges and a curved track...its definitely a conversation piece.
  23. I'm thinking mechanical like a finished coin fell and then the next coin fell but stood up and was forced against the previous one...it looks like it was done during production as no grubbyness was forced into misshapen in the grooves...it would be nice to get graded but its not an error but likely production damage, still cute to have.
  24. Looks like she's wearing a 70s sweat band...lol...must have taken some pressure to leave that kind of impression...my lcs got a sealed tube of gold maples in from 2005 and inside were two maples sealed together, a double planchet with the obverse and reverse but stuck fast, not glued up the definition of two and exact double weight but joined...in proof like condition.
  25. Well i didn't expect this...looks like the Germans got the last laugh on a nice mercury dime in 1945..lol.
