  1. 1957 had some excellent coins however a proof will almost always have a mirror finish where a regular coin will not mini won’t bare with you. I can’t bear the image! Lol. Pics would be nice too
  2. Thank You! What a great post by everyone! Yes I love the pennies and I have been thoroughly bitten by the numisbug. I have been chasing Mercury dimes for a few days but getting outbid on all attempts. A 74 coin set less 1916-D and 1921-D is running right about $300 whattt? But there are sets out there up to $22,000. I’ll never get there but will keep trying. Keep at it Sharann look at the fun your having!
  3. Another link https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/243456-1961-d-dime-rpm one more http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/everything-else/568872-1961-d-dime-rpm-001-a.html
  4. Sure looks like double D to me. here is an example I found. http://www.varietyvista.com/07 Roosevelt Dimes/RPM Detail Files/1961DRPM001.htm
  5. Yea you me and 10,000,000 other people. I do love them though. I have a number of them varying in value fro $50 up. The newest ones don’t have a value listed but it’s easy to find that based on grading. Time there’s not a whole lot of visual difference between ms69 and ms70. They just minted the last “w” mint 2021 ASE with a strict limit of 344,000. It sold out in 8 minutes as a proof. I feel very lucky getting this one and will get it graded. Graded ones are already over $200 from dealers.
  6. That sure sounds like an error. Cant wait for the pictures. I just bought a set on eBay. The next day I received 2 mint state in change from culvers
  7. Lol. I’ve been looking at pennies today.
  8. Very interesting. It appears to be a face to the right of lincoln.
  9. Bought some old buffalos that without it may not have been able to read the date. Example a 1928
  10. This is just environmental damage, referred to as PMD post mint damage. You see all kinds of thing here on the forum.
  11. Sharann just to help you understand I just bought some very nice BU pennies and found out there are 7 (one person said 9) varieties of 1982 pennies I am attaching my book with the 1982s so you can see for yourself.
  12. If your just starting out you should buy a 2021 coin book. It identifies anything special about any us coin. I just got bitten by the numismatic bug in January . Had a lot of pennies but circulated used pennies are usually not worth much. The book identifies known errors. I wanted instant gratification so bought a set of brilliants 1959-2020 for about $30 they Just about filled my three penny books with new uncirculated coins.
  13. Until I purchased a BU set of 1959-2020 set of pennies I didn't know there were 7 different varieties of 1982.
  14. That’s the way they were. Peace Dollars. I just had a 1922 graded MS63 and it’s worth about 50 bucks
  15. Hers an idea. https://www.translinesupply.com/guardhouse-wood-display-box-828538-aaaath.aspx

  17. https://history.stackexchange.com/questions/58540/how-did-people-cut-pieces-of-eight cutting them was pretty common.
  18. I might accept that but the holes , I cannot see external wear causing that. I believe it should be checked out thoroughly. IMO it could be a planchette reject that somehow got into circulation. There dies appear to be some very faint lettering near the bottom.
  19. The Peace Dollar began in 1922. Must have been worn around someone’s neck for many years to wear it like that. It’s all post mint damage and the hole makes it pretty much melt value. I just had a 1922 graded as an ms63 and it’s only worth $50
  20. Ok Guys I get it. Some fine adjustments and voila ! Am I doing better?
  21. I believe this is called a linear plating bubble. https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=227243
